I hosted an event with Scarab Creative Arts last year, which is where I met Hannah, of Rose ceramics. She's teaches pottery classes here and she's also an amazing artist herself. I signed up for the six-week intermediate classes from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The cost is $275 and includes everything; clay, supplies, and all firings. All you need to bring is an apron and an open mind. The class style here is free from; just get your clay and go. Hannah walks around and checks in on your progress and helps with anything you need. If you've never sat in front of pottery wheel, I highly recommend taking the beginner class for more of teacher/student model set up. There are other classes offered here beyond pottery like painting, stained glass artistry, and even a few classes for kids. They do host events from time to time in their gallery and have a gift shop where you can try to sell your pieces. I'm excited to see what the future has in store for me when it comes to my pottery. I might just end up becoming a member here!

With a studio space right on Fulton, it can be easy to miss when walking by. However, once inside, it's a very roomy space! The decor is super cute, there's tons of plants, and the artwork for sale is all handmade (I didn't get pictures of all of it). I even got a sticker for stopping by. Christine also has yoga classes on certain days with payment options that best suit your budget (and I think there's a monthly option as well). There are a few chairs and a couch for lounging, and the staff member that I talked to was super sweet! Definitely a great hangout area or even just for a quick stop by to check everything out!

The concept he explained to me is the following. Think of it as a gym membership but for art. You pay a monthly fee, come up with what you want to learn and bring your materials. There are great teachers to guide you and certify you at just about anything. They have a glass blowing, clay, woodwork and even a 3D printer. It was impressive that everyone we met there somehow chips in to help with the training of your art production of choice and once you are certified, you are able to use the machines with minimal supervision. I've never even taken an art class, but Linda assured me that as long as I had a love of art and patience, I could learn to paint. I'm currently on my seventh painting and enjoying the process tremendously. I highly recommend taking a class with Linda McCoy. Linda also paints the most stunningly beautiful pet portraits I've ever seen. She's a gifted teacher and talented artist.

My kids are always in a good mood when I pick them up; like they've had a blast. They both felt that the teacher was fun, approachable, and knowledgeable. I would recommend the after school class for kids grades 1-3. Costs are about $95 for 5 one hour after school sessions (per child). I would definitely enroll my kids in this again.

Bricks 4 Kidz=Time to Run Errands 4 Parentz…read more My son just finished the Bat League summer camp and absolutely loved it. It was $160 for four days, 8:00-11:30 each day. It wasn't cheap, but well worth the investment. The staff that ran it was really friendly and engaged with the kids. They had superhero capes and masks for the kids to wear while they were there. The activities each day were superhero themed, and the kids did crafts besides just Lego things, too. They also email you a link the first day to a google drive where they post a few pictures each day so you can see what your kid has been up to. I thought this camp was a great investment. Long enough for him to have fun and for me to get things done, but not so long that the whole day was gone or it got boring. They still have some camps this summer. Definitely worth doing!

There are a couple of great things I would like to highlight. 1. They learn things in themes which is so cool. He came home this week and was telling me about camping and the stuff we would need. We have never been camping but he comes home with new information. 2. He didn't have to be potty trained. They helped us and we tried at home. Personally I think he took longer because his little brother was born when he was 2 1/2 so it was a huge transition in life for him. 3. I don't have to pack him a lunch. Some schools I looked into I had to pack a lunch. Honestly I am so busy that adding one more thing before I go to bed or to do in the morning is rough. I already pack all my pumping supplies daily in order to feed his little brother. Now here is the thing that makes the school truly exceptional... they know everyone's name. When I walk in the door, the front desk and the teachers all know my son and every other kids' names. That is just awesome. There is a reason why they are the people's choice. (We go to the Villa campus)
