Kid Loose, 1 question. Why are you so good?
Now, I know it's customary to review places or events on Yelp, but I've been so impressed by a particular local DJ in the last month that I had to make an exception. Let me preface this review by saying that in no way am I linked to him socially or professionally - I've basically just become his #1 fan by hearing him play. Is it pathetic when one aspires to be a local DJ's groupie?
I'm a big fan of trance and house music, and as an opening act (and hopefully someday as a headliner) Kid Loose, well, he owns. His track selection is unique and brings the house down. One thing that bothers me when I see a DJ is when they build up the energy and then drop it back down too quickly, leaving you with that "Aw Man! It was just getting good!" feeling *ahem David Guetta*. But, Kid Loose has never had this problem - he is excellent at controlling the pace of the night. The first time I saw him with Benny Benassi, (and I'm not exaggerating when I say this), I think he was on the same level. I stopped dancing at almost every transition to scream "AHHH why are you sooo good!" He is also fun to watch, as he dances like crazy behind the turntables tryin to get the crowd riled up.
Not to mention, he's just a really nice guy. I started exchanging messages with him after the Benassi show and finally met him in person, and he is one of the most approachable, unpretentious DJs I think I've ever talked to. Example - I requested a particular song that I fell in love with days before the night he was going to play, and he actually played it for me! Blew me kisses and everything! I felt like the most special girl of the night...even if it was only a song.
I know that he has a show on 92.7 (although I'm not quite sure what his schedule is), so if you don't want to commit to seeing him in a club, definitely check him out on the radio. But really, if you have the chance to see him live (and you like that style of music), don't pass it up! read more
