We visited for a private concert but it's clear the owners and managers are committed to being a great addition to the community scene. How many places still have a soda fountain counter, with padded swiveling stools bolted to the floor, not to mention partially restored stamped tin ceilings? The drink assortment, pastries, pizzas, and decor are all surprisingly wonderful for a town and a space this size, and the dedicated and friendly service are top flight. The coffee was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming and homy, and the staff were nice. What more can you ask for? I ordered a hot white chocolate mocha coffee with whipped cream and it was made just the way I like it. The vegetarian quiche was so tasty and feeling. They offer free wifi and plenty of spaces to do work or chat with friends. Plenty of food options for everyone. Definitely would return. read more

Walk to the back counter to order. We stood at the door waiting to be seated!! And they also have a small amount of counter service. Art on the walls, rugs, chairs, everything is very eclectic. I went in on a Sunday Evening, July 30, and a musical duo were singing and playing. Half the tables had customers, but it looked like mostly coffee and tea. A waiter finally told me to sit anywhere, so I sat at the bar. The musicians started a break before I could get a photo. The poor waiter seemed to be the only person working, cashiering, waiting tables, and serving. The menu looked very good, and the restaurant had a good atmosphere. I used to frequent the restaurant in the 1960's and 1970's. I really can't judge the menu since I didn't have enough time to wait for the order taker or cook. I was really looking forward to trying Stella's now that it has reopened. As a frequent visitor of the old Stella's, I was hoping for a similar experience. When we first walked in, we stood by the front wondering if we could seat ourselves or be greeted by someone. After looking around for a few minutes, we decided to seat ourselves. We noticed the "Order Here" sign above the cash register in the back and figured not being greeted was the norm. We ordered two smoked salmon bagels and a bowl of green chili stew at the register. We asked if it would be possibly for the stew to be split in two bowls, but was quickly told that the kitchen would not be able to accommodate. After a few minutes, we were told that the soup would actually be able to be split in two bowls. When our food came out, the bowl of green chili stew came in one bowl. I was slightly disappointed and reminded them that we asked for the bowl to be split. When they came back out, we were even more disappointed to see that the large $8 bowl of soup was split in two very small, condiment-sized bowls. I'm not sure what they did with the remainder of the soup from the large bowl that was brought out. Our bagels came out open-faced, which was great for presentation. I was looking forward to the perfect bite of a soft top and toasted bottom. When we closed our bagels, we found out that they used both tops on one plate and both bottoms on the other. Needless to say, I was left with both bottoms making my bagel sandwich extremely difficult to chew through. After looking around and seeing other customers walk in and be greeted, and realizing that they weren't required to walk up to the register to order the food like we were, as well as the lack of attention to detail with the bagels, we decided one visit was enough to not return. We are traveling on our way home from Phoenix and decided to stay in Las Vegas, New Mexico as part of the old Route 66 experience and found this gem in the old town area of the city. It was such a pleasant surprise in many ways. The atmosphere is eclectic and the owners Frank and his wife were very friendly and gave us a little history of the town and how they came to live here. Their waiter Carlos was very helpful and friendly as well. We shared a pepperoni pizza, the mixed salad, some beers and saved room for dessert. We are from Chicago and fussy about pizza, this was really crispy, had lots of pepperoni and was a good choice. The mixed salad was also very fresh and contained an assortment of ingredients. Dessert was a home made piece of Blueberry Tart with your choice of ice cream. A good ending to our dinner. We were there on a Saturday and they had live entertainment. It isn't always the same but we heard a couple that sang folk pop and played the guitar. We thought the price for dinner was very reasonable. I walked past the restaurant's window a week or so ago and saw that the Reuben sandwich was their highlighted item of the month. So a few days ago, I decided to pop in for that Reuben and I'm very glad that I did. Great flipping sandwich. I enjoyed the restaurant's vibe and decor as well. I got a slice of an English Raspberry Tart to go that I found way too subtle for my taste and was just "meh." That said, I'll definitely be back. read more

The cappuccino was pretty good, but the chicken sandwich I ordered was not that great, it was smothered with way too much of a Mayo orangey sauce. The toasted bread itself was not that bad though. My husband had the breakfast sandwich and felt sick afterwards. So that's why I gave it 2 stars. read more

This review is way overdue. Over the last winter holiday, I was visiting friends in Las Vegas who took me to an evening lasagna special at Stella's. Not only was everything delicious, but I also have never been to a cafe or an event that was more welcoming to everyone. The community spirit and warmth were so present and palpable that I would love to move to LV. I continued to stop at Stella's several times over my visit always getting a BLT and coffee. A BLT is my all-time favorite sandwich and Stella's did not disappoint; it was one of the very best I've had in years. The tomato actually tasted like a tomato and was not white, pink, and flavorless like I am so used to getting in restaurants and the bacon was generous. You can tell that Stella's really cares about and uses high-quality produce and ingredients. I met the owners, Jan and Frank, who are as great as their food and so welcoming and sweet that I almost felt like a guest in their home. My only regret is there isn't this Stella's in my town. I can't wait to go back. read more
