With that in mind, when I…read morehad to replace the stuffing from four chair cushions from down to foam, I ignored the larger establishments and the craigslist/Facebook marketplace/online offers and went to our local upholstery store. The quote was a little higher than the store who we found in Sterling, but, ya know - #HerndonStrong. A little over $200 and we'd have it back in a week, they said. So we gave it a shot. Color me underwhelmed. One week passes, nary a peep from the owners. E-mails sent and phone calls unreturned. Two weeks, nothing. Three weeks passed amidst multiple phone calls from us and it is finally complete. I go in to pick it up, the owner, Eddie--who doesn't feel a need to wear a mask when interacting with customers during the pandemic--shrugs and says "we put it aside and forgot about it." I mean, points for honesty, but seriously? I ask his brother Jeff (masked and helped with the door, thank you!), who rings me up if we were going to be paying the full freight despite it being three weeks late, and Eddie chimes in "I told you what happened." I get it that it was a small order, all things concerned, and concede that the relatively simple order appears to have been well done, but the lack of communication about tardiness and the apathy for being that late are deal-breakers. Small jobs matter too, and when we have our big job coming, I won't be back.
