This station is just right up my alley, don't know what i did with out it. I'm a country music fan, but when you say that, you get roped in with all of those douches who like Kenny Cheesey, Rascal Flatheads, Keith Metro and other aweful acts that don't write their own tunes. I like stuff that you don't here on "country" radio....UNLESS, you got it dialed in to 95.3 THE RANGE! They play every thing from the locals like Owen Temple, The Old 97's, Sorta, Macon Greyson, Max Stalling, Bleu Edmonson...And they also play artists from back in the day, and the new young independent studs. You'll it all, from Johnny Cash to Johnny Paycheck, Roger Miller to Roger Creager, Good ole Gary P. Nunn, the 2 kings of my music world JJW and REK, Randy Rogers, CCR(both kinds), 1100 Springs(the best damn band in Texas), Willie, Waylon and Me. Brett Dylon, best DJ out there...They even just made a movie about him. He's the goa teed honky tonk hippie himself, with his band of monkeys, and he rules. The others are suspect, but all in all, i rarely move down the dial. read more

Hands down, my FAV-O-RITE radio station. I listen to it on the 'Net when I'm not in DFW (which is most always). They play the best musicians and songs- stuff you just don't hear anywhere else. Local TX bands, and others who just sound like they could be from TX. It's a welcome break from the cookie-cutter formula "new country" junk that keeps oozing out of Nashville. This is real music that you can get in to. XM's Cross-Country channel (may it rest in peace) was similar before it got replaced by the relatively-lame Sirius Outlaw Country channel. Now, there just aren't many choices to hear this brand of music, and it's a shame. Keep up the good work! Ya'll at The Range are doing it right! read more

This is the rarest of rare birds - a music station that's live and local - and even more unusual for a commercial station, one that carries a format you are not likely to hear closely replicated anywhere else. Mix of classic Americana with newer artists primarily Texas-based - and none of the Nashville clones, getcher pretty boy, flat belly, hat country somewhere else. My musical taste ran toward alternative rock before the mid-90's or so when it was dragged into the mainstream and ritually beaten senseless. Slowly I found myself listening to the Range more and more until it became my default selection for music, even versus XM satellite. Moved away from Dallas last year and listen via the web now... the audio quality of the web stream is sadly quite poor, but the music cannot be beaten. My favorite country station. Everything Texas themed gets played here. They avoid the Nashville clone playlist. It's locally owned and a relief from those stations that beam their signals down from a satellite. read more
