The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and feels very luscious and warm. We had a variety of appetizers and each ordered individual entrees along with rounds of drinks. The wait staff was attentive and the food was delicious, but slow to come out. Being a large group, this is somewhat expected but it still felt a bit too long. The spot was close to our office, so I would definitely come back again.

I'm not au fait with Persian food, but the majority of the sharing platter we had was flavoursome and good quality - even on a Sunday late afternoon graveyard shift. Interestingly, or strangely, there is a significant vodka menu, which I cannot speak for. Kennington cross is not the busiest area for restaurant visitors so it's hard to know how Doost could still be here if not putting out good food. The interior is dark, but modern, simple and clean. There's a reasonable wine selection (including a good pinot grigio and malbec), but we decided to steer clear of the aforementioned vodka. Not much else to speak about, but worth a visit if you're looking for something 'local' and different, then worth a punt. You get a discount voucher for other businesses in the area (including amici on the other side of Kennington Cross, which appears to be run by the same group). Let me know how the vodka goes down!

After reading such great reviews about this place I was left feeling a bit disappointed. This is a…read morebasement level restaurant that has a cosy cafe/brasserie feel to it. We arrived at around 7 pm and there were still big tables of kids having afternoon tea and so it was a bit loud and a different energy to what we were expecting. We asked to move table to somewhere a little more quiet. Drinks took a while to arrive and service was generally quite disappointing. We asked for ice for our water a couple of times and no one ever came to bring any. It's a bit like we were forgotten about. Cocktails were decent but not remarkable. The food was good - squid ink risotto with cuttle fish. Needed additional seasoning but was happy to do that myself and had to ask for Parmesan cheese. While the food was good, it was not good enough to merit a return visit. Prices are fair but service charge is automatically added and I don't think they earned it this time around. In all, an average evening.

I was here 5 years ago, nearly to the date, with my girlfriend and we had a lovely meal then. A brisk quick walk from the train station is worth it to get away from the bustle on the edge of a green near suburbia. Also I got to enjoy girls night at the table next door with some lovely English-Irish conversation, so who doesn't love that. They were winding down when I started with Czech beer (on tap and yes the cheapest in the world like our Czech friend says). Well at least the cheapest here, and in a Prague glass.... My fish entree was succulent and the creamy mushroom sauce delightful. Almost as delightful as the ladies who were getting a second wind now, ordering first one, then two desserts "to share". Oh and here come the dessert drinks. Not wanting to feel left out I ordered another Prague glass because it was too cozy to depart. However all good food things must end, but I left with the trio next door still going strong. Some of us have to get up in the morning. The waitress was great and said "you'll come back tomorrow". Sadly I'm headed home, but I'll return when able.

The staff were super friendly and helpful with the menu and took time to explain the specials to us. The decor feels classic American, and the food exceptional for the price point. We ordered a broccoli and goats cheese dish for starter - it was sensational, also a wood pigeon dish which was cooked and seasoned very well. For mains we had a mackerel rillette and a steak with fries. The steak had perfectly rendered fat which was properly flamed, this gave it a nice crispy texture. Most places don't get this right. I'd most definitely return to this venue and am disappointed in myself for taking so long to visit - shame on me!

The menu is pretty large and very varied, but everything is wonderful. I try loads of different things there because I have absolute faith that whatever I choose will be delicious. So, coming back to breakfast... the bacon is gorgeous, the mushrooms really tasty and the tomatoes are heaven. The bread is home made and the tea and coffee are lovely. It's also surprisingly reasonable, you definitely don't pay top prices, but you get top price service and food. Top tip - there is a small parking lot behind the restaurant with a barrier.
