This is a brief review as I've only been here once and a minimal amount to eat and drink. Normally I like to go somewhere at least twice before I review it, as sometimes the first time can be a very good or very bad fluke. Especially in E20, where to be honest, most places are flaky at best.
I love the interior, industrial yet comfortable. According to the PR the manager is from the OXO Tower restaurant so I was expecting a high level of service and food....and I got it.
Nice wine list, compact but with a range of flavours amongst the red, white and rose.
I'd say the menu pricing is on the high side, with sharing/mid-size plates around the £6 - 8 mark.
On my first visit here I had the Bacalo (Codfish) and crostini with aioli (photo to be posted shortly). Quality was quite delicious, but still felt £6.50 was a bit on the pricey side. Sampled 2 glasses of red (out of 3 available by the glass), both of which were lovely and rich, perfect on a cold winter day and with the dish I had. Service was quick although it was a bit of a slow Saturday afternoon with not a lot of guests.
That said, at other local eateries you'd have the same amount of guests in the joint and suffer with painfully protracted and slightly retarded service. Therefore comparatively, great.
Overall I was pleased to experience the relaxed vibe and clean, professional attitude.
Good for a sophisticated venue in the area for an afternoon or late evening drink and small dish, as a stop before elsehwere. I'm only giving it 3 stars for now until I enjoy a few steady experiences here...which I hope to enjoy soon. read more
