Then I was seen by Dr. Sukoff. He could not have been any nicer and more informative. He spoke of options and listened to what I wanted to accomplish with my smile. He then told me (and actually brought up pictures) about a cosmetic procedure that would accomplish what I wanted. I had never known or thought of this procedure as an option. It was so refreshing to talk to a Doctor who only wanted to help me, even if it meant sending me elsewhere. I so appreciate the knowledge he gave me to fix my smile. Thank you, Dr. Sukoff!

Before starting treatment, I specifically asked Michelle to verify my insurance because, as a teacher living on a budget, I could not afford unexpected costs. I delayed treatment for a week so they could confirm coverage, and I was assured my insurance would cover $1,500. Based on that information, I signed the contract and began treatment. Months later, after already being deep into treatment, I was suddenly told that insurance had not covered anything and that I was responsible for the balance. When I questioned this, I was told they had only done a "verbal" verification and had no documentation of it. Despite repeatedly assuring me coverage had been verified, they now point only to the contract saying I am responsible if insurance does not pay. Communication has also been extremely frustrating. Calls were not returned, I was repeatedly placed on hold until the office closed, and promised callbacks never happened. Meanwhile, payments continued being deducted without proof of payment being provided. Unfortunately, while the orthodontic treatment itself seems fine, the business practices felt unprofessional and predatory. I trusted that my insurance had been properly verified before committing to treatment, but instead I was left dealing with unexpected financial consequences after I was already "on the hook" in the middle of treatment.

From the moment we walked into the door, to the moment we left, we were treated exceptionally well. The staff at the front desk, on the phone and in the back office are extremely professional, responsive, quick, fun and friendly. And also, very very very caring about my child and I. They are a dream team and we are looking forward to seeing them more over the coming months. Dr Capogna is a class act. He is extremely articulate, intelligent, wise, caring and has a super great mannerism with my child and myself. He is one of the top orthodontists on the island and has a great reparation, but he hasn't let it get to his head. I have been working in the medical and healthcare field for over 20 years, and I am highly accustomed to reviewing many technologies, service providers, locations and package options. And I did this before choosing an orthodontist. And this included contacting 6 of our closest friends and family in the area. Interestingly enough, 3 told us the same person, Dr Capogna. 3 gave us other references, and then through other networking, we heard about 3 others. After many months of visits, interviews, phone calls and cross referencing, we choose Dr Capogna and his office/staff as having the hands down best option for us. They were prompt with taking me on time, the hygienist was WONDERFUL, quick, kind, and made me feel comfortable, and Dr. Silverman kept coming in my room with jokes, fun conversations and a gentle approach. To add, about 4 days after my appointment I was feeling a little pain behind a tooth (because of something I did- not from them), I called at 11am to explain what was going on, and without hesitation they asked me to come in right away. I was seen immediately, the doctor assessed the issue, gave me a treatment, and I was in/out in less than 10 minutes. I am thrilled with my experiences so far and highly recommend this practice!

We decided to go with another orthodontist only to find out that our insurance was billed 330 dollars, 80 for the consultation and another 250 for photos and scans. When contacting them by phone after finding out our insurance was charged, we were informed the "free" consultation was the dentist looking in my child's mouth and saying "yes he needs braces" but once they took photos and scans we were going to be billed. No one in the office at anytime told us there would be any charges. We were told on the phone it was free for us because we didn't pay anything out of pocket, I had to explain to the person on the phone that it did in fact cost us money as all the estimates were well over my insurance life time allowance and their slimy tactics of charging for what was sold as a free consultation lowered my allowance by 250 dollars. We were also told we weren't informed of any possible cost of the "free consultation" because my insurance doesn't allow them to charge customers but if I had another insurance company I would have been informed of charges. Dr Halberstadt would explain everything in detail to both my daughter and myself and always made by daughter feel comfortable. His prices were very reasonable and he worked out an affordable payment plan with me. His office staff is wonderful, most notably Donna who is one of the most welcoming and lovely people I have ever met. My daughters braces are now off and she's very happy with the final result.
