I'm a big shawarma guy. There's something about wrapping meat and vegetables in a pita and smothering it with cheese and garlic sauce that gets me every time. Metro Manila is littered with a lot of shawarma joints and stands. Finding out which one of them is good is usually a process of trial and error.
Khaleb's Shawarma is one of the best shawarma I've had given its price point. It's a little bit more expensive at 60-70 pesos per pita, depending on whether it has actual slice of cheese, but I'd say it's worth it.
The meat is juicy and often well cooked. The serving size is more of a snack than something that I'd eat to satisfy my cravings. It's what I usually get on the way home from Makati to help keep the hunger pains at bay. Of course, riding the bus while eating shawarma does make me feel a little bit guilty for anyone who doesn't like the odor. read more
