The chicken itself was excellent. It was incredibly juicy, perfectly fried, and had a great crispy coating. My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.

But the sides here suck. No fries - never has been. Cheese it Mac n cheese is just not aging well after 9 years. Coleslaw here is the absolute worst - like missing sugar to cut cabbage taste - it's been bad for a while. Potato salad is just mush - I would rather have grocery store potato salad. They have beans and collards - they are fine - but not what I want. Spend $21 for upper tray with a Cheerwine and tip and you want to feel excited. I just ate the chicken - took 2 bites of the sides - ate the roll and pitched the tray. Coleslaw and potato salad is a personal choice - so could just be me. I hate them. My table was split on coleslaw - mostly plain cabbage. Everyone agreed on potato salad - maybe old? Maybe recipe - maybe who made it yesterday. Been a diehard since beginning - over it. Not worth $21 for just me if I don't love it.

My go-to flavors are Golden Original, Spicy Original, and Soy Garlic--they're all packed with flavor. One of my favorite things is the crunchiness. I really wish it were a little more affordable because I'd definitely order more and probably come more often! Overall, great flavor, amazing crunch, and consistently good chicken.

Continuing our investigation and trials for this very convenient to us Korean fried chicken place…read more I have eaten fried street food, shrimp, veggies, chicken in Korea and it had been very good. Recently ordered an 8-piece boneless chicken box. When I picked it up, the counter person asked if I wanted a sauce with my order. I told him that I do not like sweet or honeyed chicken, but do like spicy. He said "all of our sauces are sweet". I asked if there were any other options and he said, "ranch". Sold! And it was good likely house - made ranch dressing. Once home I took a bite of this wonderful fried chicken, dipped in ranch dressing. It was really yummy. However, when I looked at the area where I bit, it was red/raw. Undercooked. There were seven pieces left so I decided to check them for doneness. Three pieces were wings, from very tiny chickens, each with a strip of skin. It was all fried and too thin to be undercooked. I cut the remaining four pieces in half, length-wise and all of them were red/raw in the middle. If the chicken were slathered with sauce, you would not notice, but just in case, ask for "well-done" when you order to make certain. I put the four pieces into our air fryer and they came out fine. If you like sweet sauces, honey sweet sauces, this is your place. The chicken is excellent, but order well done.

The restaurant is open and bright with tall windows along the front and sides. A very nice change from the cloned box chain restaurant buildings these days. They have a drive thru and dine in with lots of booths surrounding the perimeter of the inside and some tables in the center. They also have a small outdoor seating area. It's not covered though so it will be a seasonal option. The inside has a large counter that looks like it could be a bar area but it was empty and looked unfinished. We ordered at the counter where a friendly cashier helped us decide on what sauces to choose. Since it was our first time here we wanted to try a variety of items. I ordered three sliders and my husband got a tender combo. Our food came out really quickly and it was super hot. The fries were seasoned well too. No one likes unseasoned fries. One of the first things we noticed was how small the tenders were. I would have expected a larger tender for the price honestly. The flavor was delicious and we loved the different sauces they had. The spicy peach sauce was one of my favorites as well as the honey mustard. The pretzel bites we got as a side were ok. I'd probably skip them next time though. Overall we had a great experience at Ray Rays. I'd go there again for sure. Next time I'll have to try one of their sandwiches or bowls I think.

As someone who usually hates crinkle cut fries, they are done right here. Seasoned to perfection and crisp on the edges! Also, so many fries included that I couldn't even finish them all in one sitting. The chicken itself is so juicy, crispy, and full of flavor. They also have fresh lemonade and orangeade, and yes, it's actually fresh. The lemon flavor packed a punch but in the best way. I am SO excited to have this new addition to Mocksville and I already can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!

Closer to our house though, there are other chicken choices so we rarely get KFC. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I swung thru there for takeout one day. I bought the $20 Fill Up box and saw a sign for limited time chicken livers so ordered some to try. The drive thru is a tight curve, compared to some, but is clean and well maintained. The young lady working the drive thru was quite pleasant. The Original Recipe from here is the best. We've had the crispy and it falls flat compared to the original. The nuggets are very juicy. The fries are good and they have different sauces now to dunk everything in. I was very disappointed in the chicken livers. They were overcooked and not seasoned. (I was hoping for at least an OR spice take on them.) Perhaps whomever cooked them was a novice? Anyway, you cannot beat the $20 Fill Up deal for value (in our experience, it feeds between 4-6 people). Super fast & affordable meal, even through a drive-thru. Definitely cannot beat their Original Recipe chicken at this particular KFC. It's worth it and gives me nostalgia for the KFC treat I had as a child.
