Looks like this poor place could use a good review. I don't eat fast food and I know what I'm going to get when I do. Well, this KFC surpassed my expectations and the food was as edible as KFC gets. My Nashville Hot chicken fingers were hot, spicy and crispy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were executed perfectly, reminiscent of thanksgiving in the county lockup. The coleslaw, sweet and tangy all at once, a perfect balance of whatever vegetables they put in there. Finally, the biscuit, so fake, yet so delicious, much like the fabled Twinkie of yore. This KFC shares the building with a Long John Silver's. I've driven past this place dozens of times and been nervous to stop. Remember that old saying about chicken and fish not being cooked in the same grease? They weren't lying. I went with the 3 piece combo. 2 chicken strips and a piece of fish. Fries and hush puppies. The 3 piece was indistinguishable and all tasted the same, and that was not a good taste. The hush puppies were overcooked and were akin to jawbreakers. The fries reached the other end of the spectrum and were undercooked. I actually pulled off the next freeway exit to throw this away to get the smell out of the car. Painful experience. And I knew better. I KNEW BETTER!! I give myself 1 star for being stupid enough to stop here. read more

After a twenty minute wait for one combo meal, I was finally called to the counter to get my food. I noticed right away that the bag felt light. Upon looking in the bag I noticed the "meal" was lacking everything but the two pieces of fish (now cold). I asked about my sides and was told it would be "about ten minutes". A chain restaurant in Rock Springs started out our vacation this year, so I suppose it was fitting, in a way, that another closed it. This particular place is both a Long John Silver's and a KFC Buffet. Now, I don't feel KFC's chicken much and never eat there, but there is not a Long John Silver's in Salt Lake and I've also not encountered one anywhere else, so I'm hoping it's something decent, ala a Skipper's maybe. Wishful thinking on my part. This is batter. Lots and lots of batter. The same batter for the chicken, shrimp and fish and if that's not enough, they even served the meat selection on a bed of fried batter (I wish I was kidding). The batter is not necessarily bad tasting, but way too much of it on everything and the kitchen executes this exceedingly poorly. If I can compress the breading slightly and grease bleeds out, this speaks of a huge problem to me. I had to basically toss all the breading. As another reviewer noted, the meat tasted all the same, including, somehow, the shrimp. My wife had the buffet and I have no comment to that other than to say I think she made a huge, grievous error and wound up rotating a lot of their stock for them as it had been in holding trays so long she had no choice but to toss it. My son's kids meal was probably the best of the lot. He certainly enjoyed it more. On a less negative note, they do have Diet Mt. Dew on fountain, in a good mix, the KFC hot sauce is still worth eating and the Reese's Peanut Butter pie thing was also quite good. They also forgot the cookie, sauces and butter which I had to stand by the counter for 5 minutes to get (it was impossible to flag someone down.) I didn't even want to give this place one star but I guess I have to in order to write a review. On our way to Denver we stopped in for dinner , big mistake. The food was not fresh at all, chicken was super greasy . The mac and cheese had been sitting out for god knows how long. The only thing palatable was the biscuits and the soda. The whole restaurant was filthy! The tables , counters and drink area were totally covered in spills. I pray we don't get food poisoning. Don't go there! read more
