I love my chicken and I really love fried chicken too, so I'm always happy to go into a specific…read morechicken takeaway shop for something to eat. This little place is even better because it's also called 'Chicken' so you know exactly what you're getting before you even walk in.....brilliant!! Most of the time I only buy my fried chicken from certain takeaway shops but when I visited this shop I was pleasantly surprised. It's not bad at all and they offer great value meals for those on a tight budget who can't afford to buy expensive lunches. They don't overdo the chicken coating as some places tend to overdo it and therefore the chicken ends up tasting horrible. Also, it's not as greasy as what I expected; which was a pleasant surprise as well. I paid about £2 for a chicken and chips meal and that totally filled me up for most of the day.

This is quite frankly the worst take away I have ever had. I ordered through Hungry House last…read morenight (surprisingly not through the web address www.chicken.com which doesn't even exist let alone do they not own it, idiocy) as I needed something quick to eat as I had been travelling all day. I requested some chicken, fries, ribs, a can of Fanta and a bottle of Coke. The chicken was horrible, it really was sodden with grease, the fries were soggy, the ribs were not made from pork at all (I dread to think what it was, I only ate one), it wasn't Fanta I received it was some cheap imitation called Mirinda and it wasn't Coke either it was Pepsi. It is safe to say NOTHING that I ordered was any good or correct. If you can't supply the exact item that someone has ordered you need to tell them, don't advertise Fanta if you mean Mirinda, i would not have ordered it. If you go to HMV to buy Despicable Me on DVD you don't expect to be given Shrek and told it's almost the same as they are both animated, do you? In bars and restaurants all places need to ask you if you are ok with Pepsi if you ask for Coke, for the full reason that it is not the same product. I don't really expect much when it comes to take away anyway but at the same time i don't think it takes much either to get simple things like an order right. I don't really expect much in the way of food quality either but there is food and then there is bin contents and quite frankly this was bin contents. Finally if you're going to call yourselves Chicken.com, why not obtain the web address that is Chicken.com? This only sums up how stupid the people who run this restaurant must be in the first place. AVOID!

St John's Wood

When walking over to Chicken Shop, I came past Megan's and was shocked to find out they were closing this branch. I have only once been to Megan's in St. John's Wood, but thought it was a very welcome addition to the area. Unfortunately, it is no more. But now there is a new Chicken Shop branch just around the corner. Chicken Shop is a modern restaurant chain that currently expands and opens new branches in different parts of London. The shop in St. John's Wood is light with a big window front and a beautiful, simple design. I was wondering about how busy they were on a Saturday afternoon, even more as they just opened. Since the chicken restaurant a bit further down across the road had closed down some time ago, perhaps they simply got here at the right time. The place is bigger than it looks at first. I was given the option and decided to sit in the front room facing the window, not the area at the back nearer to the kitchen. The design is modern and the dark wood creates a nice and warm setting. The music is kind of loud, but as this still is a fast food place, I think it is acceptable and I did not really get too annoyed by it. Ordering is simple, because chicken shop does not have an extensive menu. You can basically only choose between different sizes of chicken from the spit. To leave space for the dessert - recommended by my lovely waitress - I ordered a quarter chicken. When asked for my preference, I opted for breast meat. I did not have to wait long until my pile of juicy, tasty chicken arrived together with golden, crispy crinkle-cut fries. While the chicken on the bone was delightful with a good crust, the fries were even better. They could only have been improved with more interesting seasoning, but as far as frying goes, those chips are perfect. When I asked for the deep-filled apple pie for dessert, I was surprised when this guy turned up at my table with a whole, hot apple pie. He cut out a good-sized piece for me and I greatly enjoyed it with a jug of cream. It was piping hot and full of apple flavours. Chicken Shop in St. John's Wood is now most likely the best place for a piece of chicken in NW8. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant is clean with a modern yet warm atmosphere. Yes, the chicken is delicious, but the chips alone are worth a visit.

Management seems to be completely unaware of its own operational problem. The only redeeming factor is that the food is okay but is expensive because of the neighbourhood. Highly recommend against coming here unless you are not hungry which really defeats the point of going to a restaurant.
