Takeaways in Paisley are like a plague. Literally, every second shop is some kind of Indian,…read moreChinese or a Fish and Chip shop. So we needed a shake up on the Paisley food scene, if you can call it a 'scene' of course. Along comes The BBQ Shack with their American, Man vs. Food inspired dishes such as Pulled Pork and Ribs. I'm personally a great lover of anything with "BBQ" in the title, I love BBQ'd foods. Ribs, chicken, chicken wings, burgers-all the kinds of things you get in TGI Friday's and the likes. So, here I am, one hungover Sunday, chapping at the bit for something greasy to eat, I decided to give The BBQ Shack a try. I'd heard some pretty grim things about people waiting up to two hours for a delivery-and it said on the JustEat confirmation that my expected delivery time wouldn't be until 22:55. But it was Sunday night. My delivery same at just after 10, half an hour after I ordered. Wonderful. I was ravenous. I had chicken wings and fries. It came to £7.50. Not bad. And I bit into it and it was absolutely HEAVENLY. It was like my mouth was having an orgasm. The chicken wings are absolutely wonderful. I have quite literally never tasted anything like it. I loved them. I started to feel myself get fuller after the fourth wing. The wings are quite big and the sauce is just genius. The fries were a bit cold and greasy, so I didn't eat many of them-but they were nice! This place gets 5/5 for the wings alone!

These burgers are a bit pricey for their size but are loaded up with amazing, unique ingredients that definitely make this place stand out. Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had, honestly. Would have been nice if we could have specified how we wanted the burgers cooked but that's apparently a restriction put on all Scottish restaurants. The restaurant itself is very small, limited seating so might be best to take out!

(My previous review is for a wing pop up he did). Thanks to Austen, Trudie, Pammi & Ally, I had the inside scoop of which burger to order - they all said the Top Dog was the best. I was a little confused as I assumed that was a hot dog but nope, it's a burger. What's in it? Beef patty, double bacon, bone marrow, Roquefort butter, caramelized onion and black truffle mayo on the side. And it came with chips. There was a bit of a wait but we were drinking with friends so weren't too bothered. The burgers were nicely presented on a tray with the chips in a pot. Excellent chips and I really liked the black truffle mayo. The burger was obviously the highlight though - it was totally delicious. I actually don't eat too many beef burgers these days as I find a lot of them are overcooked and bland but this was heaven - perfectly cooked meat (rare) and the Roquefort was just the perfect match as it really gave the burger a punch. The combination of flavours was just perfect for me and I really enjoyed it. I've had some good burgers in my time and I really do mean it when I say this is right up there at the top. My only negative comment is really the pricing - £13.50 for a burger and chips is pretty hefty but I can also understand why as this is a special pop up burger which tastes amazing and obviously uses quality product. For me, I wouldn't have this burger every day but as a special occasion treat, hell yes.

While the service was very welcoming and friendly, unfortunately the food was very disappointing. We had the buffalo wings and the pulled pork sandwich. The wings were tiny! Only included the "flats" which had a minuscule amount of meat on them, but the sauce was very good. The pulled pork sandwich was a very odd pairing of flavors. It had bland, dry pork (with no bbq flavor whatsoever), lettuce, tomato, an onion ring and some coleslaw. I'm giving 3 stars for the friendly and attentive service. One star for the food.

Well, if you really want to know I had French toast, bananas and maple syrup. Yum! Anyway, way off topic here. Aye, so The Crafty Pig. Hmmm??? Well it has a new menu and an interesting sounding one at that. We were initially only popping in for drinks but the smell of food grabbed us by the ghoolies, well if I had any that's were it would be grabbed. I had a cheeky wee Frulli Strawberry Beer to whet my whistle and opted to have the Macdog for my main. We also inquired to the bacon popcorn which they didn't have in. I thought it was going to be something awesome but it's just bacon flavouring on popcorn. The girl explained that the top list of sides were actually all bar snacks. I was a little disappointed. My Macdog arrived and I have to say that 'd' word again. Yup, I was disappointed. It was bun heavy, very dry with a funny tasting dog and the driest macaroni pasta (no sauce) topped with three triangles of plastic cheese. Now, I loooooove cheese but I cannot stand plastic cheese. Don't get me wrong, presentation looked good and I'm thankful for the chip portion but I really didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. I was super tempted to get the doughnut burger, which I may have to share by looking at Gordon M's photos. I'm not giving up on the place. I like it, to be honest not much has changed since the now past gone LUAC days. They did a cracking redecoration job so there isn't really anything that needs updated yet. So thankful for the ladies toilets being refurbished. I hated them in the Hubbards/The Wise Monkey days. It's definitely worth swinging by for, they have plenty of activities going on including their games room featuring a pool table. Keep an eye to their facebook page as their website seems to be currently down. So, whose up for the doughnut burger?
