Now that their liquor license is in place, 'PopUp kingdom' has a great new flagship location in the…read moreheart of the Peoria baseball stadium/warehouse district. And we highly recommend a visit, especially if you are familiar with the brand! Like the BloNo location there are at least two entrances - the one further west is for a good sized hosting/ordering/waiting area while the one closest to the ballpark has more direct access to the bar area, but is way more space-restricted and will likely be a traffic jam on game days. If you're looking for a table, both entrances open to the rest of the cool 'industrial chic' dining areas in the form of a large street-level open concept dining area and a good sized split-level (up 3-4 steps) back room - which despite having wide entrances that make it feel part of the larger space, likely can easily be cordoned-off for private functions. One visit in and the lady and I (plus our friend and former Ptown bartender) can say that the food was every bit the same top-quality, large portion, methodically cooked and creatively accented sandwiches and wraps, served in old school pie pans with red-white check paper liners, that we are used to. The weekend special shaved ribeye Cali burrito was particularly epic, cementing what seems to be the first of the 3 or 4 things that keep the crowds coming back. The second thing is the creativity and discernment applied to bar side - in the form of the beer menu, which is initially focused on bottles/cans since they just received the liquor license the day before our arrival. Despite this there was a good mix of 'domestics' and at least 20 quality craft options from 6 or 8 fantastic breweries representing a good variety of styles but leaning like those at the original location - that is, a few more IPAs and 'sweet sours'. They also maintain a thoughtful and inventive cocktail list and will NO DOUBT start building up the whiskey/bourbon collection in the coming weeks. Although having high quality and fairly compensated employees helps immensely, the last thing that really drives their business is something we often say three times - location... In this case, it's literally less than a block from home plate. Easy to find. Easy to love. We'll certainly be back!

Tonight however it was a short wait and they took our order by walking up to our car. It was a nice evening out for this time of year. I am disappointed to say that between the cost of my husband's nice looking chicken sandwich and the cost of my 8 piece chicken nuggets, the price being pretty much the same, Chick-fil-A could at least take 8 pieces from The chicken that they used to make a chicken sandwich and make the nuggets, but my nuggets were so tiny. I would call it scraps of chicken. Poor kids or whoever's ordering an 8-piece chicken nugget is getting ripped off. Those nuggets should be the same quality and size of the chicken breast you serve instead of creating nuggets of leftover chicken pieces that didn't make the grade. Come on Chick-fil-A. Cut those nuggets to a nice size like those chicken breasts and give us at least enough nuggets in an eight piece to be comparable to the size of that sandwich if you're going to charge as much. Now let's talk about my side salad. I know I shouldn't complain too much because it is someplace for chicken and not salads but my side salad was terrible and warm. The only thing impressive about it was the dried peppers.

I've never seen such a big chicken tender, it didn't even lend itself to eating in the car because there was no way to pick it up without support. I got the level 2 spice (sweet & spicy, I think it was). Not a lot of heat, but I was being cautious since I wasn't sure the heat levels. I'm sure the next levels are spicier. The chicken was super crispy and delicious. The fries were crispy and hot. Nicely seasoned. All served hot and quick. Good take out containers, sturdy and ventilated to keep things crisp for a short drive. Could have used a napkin or two, but I didn't ask for one either. Something to remember for next time. And there will be a next time, probably sooner than later. They were super busy but things moved quickly. They're newly opened so I think they are likely overwhelmed by business, but they're making it work quite well. If the tenders stay that size for the price, the place will be a huge hit because it's a great value.

Well, not for them, they gave me a chicken sandwich with everything and added cheese even though the receipt had it typed correctly and the guy at the "window" repeated it back. When my husband went in to explain what happened they gave him a new sandwich with a bun that looked like someone took a bite out of and was as hard a rock. I took the tender off of the bun and tried to just eat the chicken. The chicken was hot, and crispy but bland, I would be surprised if this place still is here by next year. So sad because I wanted to love it.
