Funky chicken serves up good birds but our 7:30pm visit here meant we caught one that was a bit dry. The chips are heavenly golden and big cut, as was previously mentioned. The salads are the winner here with beetroot and fetta, pumpkin and spinach, tabouli, greek and plenty more to choose from - again though get in early to get the pick of the crop and not left overs. Service was super quick and friendly and the price was good for a chicken shop. Overall, not the holy grail but definitely a contender should some of my other regulars be out on one of my fat wreck Friday type days.

One that I have already reviewed is the best, being Chicken Chef on Main North Road, however Funky Chicken on Duth Street isn't too far behind. They've got a whole bunch of stores - being an SA chain - but I've only been to this one in Torrensville. The service is quick, and if all you really want is chicken and chips for dinner, you've struck gold. Reasonable prices, too. My only gripe is their salads can be a little on the pathetic side at times - a bit wilted or lacking in the main ingredients (for example tabouli with not enough tomato and cucumber). The only salad without pasta or mayonnaise in it (the greek) had almost sold out when I arrived so the server gave me the rest left over. Unfortunately it didn't have the big chunks of fetta and olives I had seen in the salad the night before so it wasn't amazing. But for those random occurrences when "I feel like chicken tonight" and can't be bothered putting on more than the uggs and tracky dacks, this will probably become my go to. These are the dudes…read more Don't be fooled by the name: this isn't one of those drive through franchises you see everywhere, it's an old school chicken & chips deli. They must've been annoyed when the megabucks place took their name. They are always busy, and despite having seats both inside and plastic ones outside, there is pretty much no one here for a sit down meal - it's takeaway after all and has no real vibe to make you stay. Some of the staff are really friendly and nice, but there is that one lady who I think hates me. Not sure why. As an old school chicken shop, they do one thing and they do it well: hot packs. Oh yes. I highly advise you to grab yourself a quarter chicken hot pack, with chips, peas, carrots and a bucket load of gravy next time you're hungry. Or hungover. You won't be disappointed. The burgers and other offerings are all OK as far as that goes, but not sensational. To be honest you should come for the hot chickens and chips, maybe a salad or two - and leave happy.
