My mother and I had a fabulous time on the snorkel tour. I was able to upgrade to the huka dive and I found so many great teeth and a Meg! Captain Jerry was wonderful and my huka instructor, Grace did an amazing job talking me through everything. I felt like a little fish searching the bottom for teeth. The tour was just ok. We were told very little on what to do with snorkeling and searching for teeth. None of the crew joined anyone off of the boat to provide guidance. There were 6 crew members and they did not make much effort to engage with passengers or provide a nice environment when we already had poor visibility in the water. Standing around on their phones and eating the snacks instead of doing any extra service did not seem professional. We did not get much time to be searching for teach before getting back the boat. We were not told why we had to go back to the boat early and then the ride back took an hour at a slow pace. I felt like we just paid a lot of money for a ride to get to the beach area. It just felt like no effort was put into our experience at all. read more

Absolutely Incredible Dive Certification Experience! I can't recommend Olga and Lia highly enough! My 14 year old just completed his PADI Open Water Certification with Olga and Lia. He was a bit nervous about diving for the first time, but immediately felt comfortable thanks to their calm, knowledgeable, and super friendly approach. From the thorough briefing to the gentle guidance in the water, every part of the experience felt safe, exciting, and unforgettable. I am already PADI open water certified and was also allowed to join my son in the water the entire time. Olga and Lia were incredibly patient and made sure my son was completely comfortable before diving. He couldn't complete the last 3 of his Open Water Dives because he couldn't clear his ears. BUT...they both agreed to come in on their day off and complete the open water dives with my son so that he is now certified! AMAZING AND SO WORTH IT!! Such a great experience! Jerry the captain was so friendly and enjoyable! We did the huka dive and not knowing what to expect they certainly exceeded my expectations. They provide all equipment. They had so many instructors to ensure comfort and safety on the water. Wes and Morgan were personal instructors for me and my two teens and they were soooo good. They were incredibly patient and I just so appreciate them both! They helped me give my teen sons an experience they will never forget and I'm so grateful! I went on the boat adventure tour this week. It was so much fun and I'm so glad I chose to do it. We did a little touring around the inter-coastal waterway, stopped at a beach to search for shark teeth, did some snorkeling, as well as spotted lots of different wildlife including bald eagles and dolphins. It was a relaxing & fun time and I highly recommend this adventure if you're looking for some laid-back fun. read more

If you think 200 dollars a person is a great price for less then 30 minutes of hookah diving is a good deal then this is for you OUt. definitely rip-off for anyone expecting anything like advertised. Total sham for starters they try to fit multiple dives in just a few hours which is 2 scuba and 2 hookah which each dive is a different group so time is very limited. By the time the guide gets you out away from the boat and of which there are multiple person's on each tank 2 or more and tanks are just filled scuba tanks with maybe 30ft of hose and a regulator sooo.. definitely not gonna last long anyway with that being said after reaching the spot guide looks at me and said you have about 15 minutes left. 222 OK sO definitely do yourself favor and research this place and af ask questions before you pay. Would not recommend this place to anyone unless you've never done this and just looking to waste hard earned money with the return of maybe a few small teeth of which you could find on any beach around here. Beware! You will dish out $425.00 to supposedly receive training for a position with this company. Communication does not exist and the instructor that I got stuck with was not helpful and had little patience. Plus! I was expected to travel over an hour during rush hour after work for the open water training. Another instructor at the class offered to train me (I was thrilled), and again I called several times but this person did nothing to confirm training. So I requested with the company for a new instructor and have not received help. I believe Huka is a good company but perhaps are short on instructors and not able to communicate with all the trainees as they should. Here is the advertisement: Have you ever thought about working in the dive industry as a Dive Master? Are you tired of working in a dead end job in some office cubical, construction, factory, or out of the service but miss the excitement? If you're ready for a change in your life, and are ready to start living the life you want. Keys Huka Dive is growing again. One of the biggest problems we have down here is qualified work force. The industry has more jobs for dive masters than people to fill the open positions. Working as a dive master isn't easy, but its one of the best jobs I've ever had. Each day is different. One day you may be leading divers on 100ft deep wreak dives, and the next you may be assisting in training open water divers in the pool. Your job is outside working on the dive and snorkel boats, so you will have to be comfortable being outside for extended periods of time. If your not a licensed dive master we have a dive master training program to bring you up to that level. The whole program consists of 4 course you must complete open water diver, advanced diver, rescue diver, and dive master. It takes about 2 months at a part time rate to get through the courses. Now for the good part we pay our dive masters $65 dollars per 4hr trip, $10 per diver lead, and half tips. read more

Highly recommend Keys Huka Dive to anyone in the area! My fiancé, cousin, her boyfriend and I went on a 4 hour snorkel trip with Tyler, John and Will. We went on a great boat ride to a secluded beach and found some shark teeth! Then we went snorkeling at two reefs and saw plenty of fish, shells, sand dollars and even went paddle boarding. We were the only 4 passengers on the boat and it was our favorite day of our vacation by far. The staff was amazing and we will definitely come back when in the area again! read more

First of all, you can't get ahold of these guys. Captain Jerry might be busy, but there is a thing called professionalism. Hire a secretary if you don't have time to return calls. I got a call from him on Friday around lunch and he said he could do a refresher course and dive on Saturday . He had room. I needed to check on it, but told him I would likely do it. I called him back at least three additional times and left messages to get confirmation and directions. No answer that night. Called and texted around 8 the following morning since he had talked about starting at 9a. No answer. Don't know if captain Jerry had a little too much captain Jerry last night. But since I was in limbo I took a trip to the address on the website. Which is a residential condo. Rang the doorbell, no answer. Jerry called me at 915. I complained and he hung up on me. Wtf. He is pretty inexpensive compared to the established groups in marathon, but you get what you pay for. Or you don't get anything at all... Now I'm burning a vacation day in the keys. Oh well, live and learn. But I felt I had to say something. read more

I had an amazing time yesterday in Marathon with Captain Jerry and his crew: Mike and Andrea. I bought a Groupon to try the huka diving, which is a crossover between scuba diving and snorkeling. Quick explanation: they give you a regulator which is attached to the oxygen on a small raft at the surface of the water and as you swim on the bottom of the ocean the raft will follow you. Pretty awesome. We arrived at 10, signed some papers and hopped on the boat. There were only 2 other divers and the experience felt so personable. He took the boat out to a dive spot called "the Doughnut" where there is a circle of coral reef. The scuba divers hit the water first. Then Mike and Capt Jerry set up the huka raft. They quickly explained the signs that they would be using underwater to my boyfriend and I. My boyfriend had only snorkeled one other time, but they were very thorough and patient with him. We put the weight belts on, popped the regulator in our mouths and shot down. It was about 25 ft in the deepest part. Andrea and Mike accompanied us and Mike kept regularly checking the oxygen to make sure we didn't run out. We were down there almost 40 min. Such a unique activity, especially because there is no experience necessary. Then we went snorkeling in another location where there were remnants of a ship. Visibility wasn't the best from the top, but it was just so nice to get on the water. The experience was awesome and the crew were definitely good company. Captain Jerry was very communicative throughout the week and called me back every time. Would definitely drive down to Marathon to do this again. Have already recommended it to a few friends! read more

Jerry was so great and responsive. My son and I recently got our PADI certification in Arizona and our first dive was with Keys Huka. We were nervous to do a boat dive and Jerry recommended Lake Denton. It was a great place set up for diving. You could see friendly fish and sunken ships. Our dive master Kyle was amazing! He was so patient and understanding it was our first real dive. I felt very safe with him and felt like I got more than my money's worth. Dom was great with my son teaching him underwater games and dive tricks. It was a perfect experience to get us ready to try our first boat dive. Highly recommend Jerry and his team! I purchased a Groupon for myself and a friend for the snorkeling/huka with Keys Huka Dive. I called to reserve the dive trip, and was required to provide a credit card number to secure the date/time (on top of the purchased Groupon). It was explained to me that this was in case we "no-showed". Jerry indicated that my card would be charged if we "no-showed". I was told to be at the dock promptly at 9:15 am. I explained that I was driving in from the Tampa area just for this dive trip, and relayed how excited I was. On the day of the dive, I was standing on the dock ready with my friend from 9 am-9:30 am, and there was no one there. I called Jerry at 9:31 am (the boat was scheduled to depart at 9:30 am). Jerry informed me that his father had recently passed away and that all trips had been cancelled. He inquired as to whether anyone had contacted me (he has numerous employees, according to his website) and I told him "no". I expressed my sympathy and asked if anyone else did that type of dive. The one suggested business obviously could not accommodate my friend and I last minute. Jerry suggested we go and see the turtles at the local Turtle Hospital, which we were not very interested in. Although I was bummed about not being able to dive as planned, and moreover bummed that I was not notified in a timely fashion so that I may have made alternate arrangements, my friend convinced me to be understanding. Driving 14 hours round trip, booking a hotel room, purchasing an underwater camera and taking time off from work for this dive was all in vain. About a week later (yesterday), I was on Facebook and happened to notice a post from Jerry and Keys Huka Dive with a picture from the day we were to have gone out for our dive. The picture was of another dive. I called Jerry this morning for clarification and further guidance on what I should do. He told me that "the boat for my dive must have been broken down". He further explained that the Groupon is used as "filler" once the trip is almost fully booked. He also complained how "the merchant only receives half of the value of the Groupon." I explained that I was totally confused, as I was told the cancellation had been due to a death in the family. Jerry told me that if all I was doing was calling to "bitch" at him (I was totally calm and collected, mind you), that he wasn't having anything to do with it, and quickly hung up on me. I did call again and left a message (he did not answer when I immediately called back), explaining that this was no way to run a business, and that if Groupon is problematic for him, that he should not offer it. Period. I could understand if the trip could not be accommodated based on the way they handle Groupons, but I should have received the courtesy of a call (email, text, anything!) in advance letting me know that the trip was cancelled so that I could have made alternate arrangements. I did not even get into the fact that he either fibbed to me or embellished the reasoning for not fulfilling the reserved dive. Again, had I not been on the dock ready to go by 9:15 am, my credit card would have been charged. Yet he was able to "no-show", and this was fully acceptable by his standards. There is no professionalism with this business, and I strongly warn everyone to STAY AWAY from Keys Huka Dive!!!! read more

My husband and I were fortunate to have been referred to Keys Huka Dive when we mentioned to a friend we were interested in becoming PADI certified. Jerry was our instructor/dive master and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. He worked with our schedule, made learning fun and eased any concerns I had about the process of becoming cetified for open water diving. I love that he doesn't take groups out like a herd of cattle and always has a divemaster in the water with his clients. After going on a snorkel trip with another company that takes 40 people at a time, going with a very small group is awesome; it makes for a personalized experience. You know you won't get lost in the crowd. Whether you are a novice looking to huka dive for the first time, someone wanting to get their PADI certification, or an advanced open water diver you won't go wrong with Keys Huka Dive. 5 stars all the way! read more
