WARNING. Lundsfords will gouge you if they have the chance…read more My wife rented a flute for my step daughter. It went missing. We moved across the country a couple of times. Stuff was in Storage. When I moved back to Knoxville, I found the flute. IMMEDIATELY returned it. In doing so, they found me. And are now COLLECTING thousands. Heartless. My wife offered a reduced payment plan to their collection agency (FAST). FAST said that they would present it to Lundsfords and let us know of any repsonse/counter offer.... there was none. I will copy some correspondence below that shows my attempt to be reasonable with them for the returned flute (in perfect condition). Dear Lundsfords Music, I write today to BEGIN to express my dissatisfaction with the stance that you are taking regarding a instrument rental contract that my wife signed for my step daughter NAME Deleted. As I explained to your staff on the phone last month, it is not I who signed that contract in fact I have never seen it. And yet you pursue action against me. My entire role in this has been to find your long lost instrument in a box, just out of long term storage, (as we've move across the country twice in the last few years). And, then, seeing your name on the box, immediately returned it to you. My family does not have the resources to cough up thousands for this. Sure, you can say that my wife signed it...tough luck...but what kind of partner does that make you in our community? I would suggest that if others knew that you take such a hard ball approach in circumstances such as this, they would be reluctant to begin having their school age children play musical instruments. Kids lose stuff. Kids break stuff. As a succesful business , I am sure that you include that in your margin, that you are insured etc... What has really happened here? The instrument went missing in our moves, communication failed due to forwarded mail after the 6 month that the yellow stickers work; an overextended (and handicapped by the way) mom who runs a home, a job, takes kids to hockey, football, band, school, church, and oh...by the way criss-crosses the country twice moving an entire household to the west coast and back in just a few years, She lost track....But you got it back! I am really surprised that a business that must be family oriented to be successful, would take such a stance. I would truly appreciate a prompt reply, as your representatives are threatening me with impending court action.

The other guy looks like he sleeps in the woods. Very non professional looking. My friend was looking to buy a NEW guitar, but this Anthony Lay person kept trying to get her to buy some high priced USED guitar. We ended up going to Knox Guitar on Emory Road. At least we weren't verbally assaulted. I was telling someone else about our experience there, and got an entire back story on the Anthony guy. He's not one I want to do business with.

We brought a flute here that we had purchased second hand for our daughter, who is just starting…read moremiddle school band. They told us it needed over $100 in repairs to be playable, and it was not worth repairing, unless it had sentimental value. They suggested that we either buy a new one, or use their rental program. We then brought it to a friend of ours, who is the band director at a local high school, and a flute player. He said that it didn't need ANY repairs, was ready to go, and would be a great flute for a beginner to start out on. This place was CLEARLY just after our money, and took advantage of our lack of musical knowledge to try to do so. I would steer clear.

Unpleasantly surprised with how I was treated at rush's today. This place has gone from a "help…read morewith whatever you need" to "let me sell you stuff." I took in a violin today for restringing and tuning as I just got the thing and was told (after the associate turned his nose up at my violin) that its off brand quality was too poor for them to touch it. He could sell me the strings, he just wouldn't help his customer. My money is green. I will be taking my business to Music and Arts from now on. Is this a symptom of some sort of elitism or do you just pick and choose who you help now? Rush's is going the way of the dinosaur with these bad tactics.
