I've been a member of keypoint Credit Union for 30 years now. I recently went into the Cupertino branch to open a student/youth account since they were running a very good promotion. It was 5pm on a Friday but they greeted me well and Mr Hans sat me down and very clearly explained the process and estimated 20mins to get it all done. since I was already a member my daughter didn't need to come in. Mr Hans then finished opening the account and immediately credited the promotion amount and even printed the debit card for my daughter. By 5:25pm I was done and out the door. My daughter was super thrilled to see the first debit card of her life with her name on it and said she will always keep it and she was even more thrilled that she could link it to her Apple Pay. I have been a member of Keypoint Credit Union (formerly, AEA credit union) for approximately 40+ years. I have rarely needed special help or made requests over the years. Recently, I was a victim of fraud. It was a very advanced Fraud scheme using AI generated forms that looked as authentic as my online account summary. I contacted my local branch in Cupertino. Aleksey Chrusin, Branch Manager - Cupertino. He listened carefully to my fraud encounter and applied his identity theft and fraud expertise using his experiences from similar customer issues. He responded with professionalism and trust for all Financial risks that I was facing. He assured me it was under control. I closed out the old account and created a new account. As part of the process, I encountered fees from payment vendors for missing/ changing a few autopay accounts. All of my vendors eventually reversed all additional $25 penalties/fees for timing of payment disruptions. Aleksey also drafted a very descriptive email (in the event my vendors requested) about the temporary disruption in payments due to the administrative issues related to encountering the fraud. He consistently provided honest and immediate responses to follow-up inquiries. I cannot even say enough good things about Alekey and staff at Keypoint Credit Union in Cupertino. What really stood out was their personal care for me at such a scary time. They made me feel safe despite the fears I had from the fraud encounter. Years ago they never had a $5 inactivity fee. I've been a customer for probably over 35 years and one day they implemented a $5 inactivity without notifying me. I discovered that in my savings and checking account they were deducting $5 a month for inactivity and never bothered to call me of the account being dormant. They used to call me if the account became dormant but now they try to steal all your money instead of escheating it to the state they keep deducting $5 from the account to steal the money instead. I requested a refund of all the $5 a month they deducted but refused to refund me even though they never notified me of the account being dormant. They forced me to receive e-statements and stopped sending me paper statements. If you ever leave money at this credit union and forgot about it, they will try to steal all the money with the $5 inactivity fee. One of my accounts literally only literally only has $26.94 left because they tried to deplete it down to nothing with the $5 monthly fees and I only discovered the $5 fee when I logged in and discovered what was going on. read more

I had a simple task that needed to be done: do the every-5-year rotation into a new credit card as the previous one was on the verge of expiration: 1. Keypoint sent out an e-mail indicating that I should have received the credit card, I need to activate it, and if I hadn't received it yet, that was quite a cause for concern, contact them ASAP. 2. I call Keypoint. It turns out they hadn't mailed out the new credit card even though it was less than 30 days to go before the old one expired. They weren't going to send it out THAT week, either, but print it out and send it via snail-mail the NEXT week. 3. I ask if a local branch can print out a new card the next morning, as I was going to be traveling the rest of the month. I not only was told "yes", but the person on the phone put me on hold and (claimed) they called the Cupertino branch and confirmed the card would be ready first thing in the morning - just talk to the manager, and it would take 7 to 10 minutes top. 4. I show up first thing in the morning at the Cupertino branch, and talk to the manager. Nobody knows anything about me or my replacement card. 5. Manager insists I'll still get my card in 7 to 10 minutes. After 25 minutes, I get a new card. (They left out the "calling and checking with the central office" part of the procedure.) I guess I should be happy they're only off by 250%, but still, I now late for my next appointment. 6. I ask what I need to do to activate new card. Manager tells me that it's already activated. I ask "what about the old card"... manager tells me that it got deactivated once I called the phone line the day before. NOBODY INFORMED ME ABOUT THIS. I have MANY CRITICAL things that are handled by "saved card" payments on that KPCU card. Like HEALTH INSURANCE. Manager replies with a happy "no worries!", his catch-phrase he'd repeat ad-nauseum. I ask him why he didn't tell me my old card was cancelled himself until I asked. "No worries!" 7. I leave and start going over all auto-payments to see what may have been rejected due to an unexpectedly cancelled credit card. 8. (A week later) When I go to update websites to the new card... I discover that my new credit card only has a two-digit "CVV" security code, and websites reject it. 9. I try to call KPCU, but after waiting on line for 15 minutes, I go drive back to the Cupertino branch. 10. It's the end of the day. I see the same "no worries!" manager, and explain the issue. He sighs, then tells me that their credit card printer is acting up. "But it can be printed first thing in the morning!" I ask him if Keypoint sends out repair technicians overnight to fix malfunctioning machines. Manager- "No...". Me- "So then how can it be working in the morning if nobody fixes it overnight?" Manager- "We'll troubleshoot it in the morning!" 11. I ask if they can add a note to their procedures to check that the CVV number is correctly formed before handing over a new credit card to a KPCU member. Manager: "OK, I'll make sure we check it again..." Me: "Excuse me? You had one extra word that makes no sense in your last sentence... care to guess it?" Manager: "No, I don't know..." Me: "AGAIN. You never checked the CVV number IN THE FIRST PLACE. So you can't check it AGAIN." ------------------ So there you go. I'm going to get this resolved, but NEVER AGAIN go to the Cupertino branch. I'm not happy with KPCU in general, but I can only hope that the manager of some other close-by branch has more on the ball than the Cupertino branch. Frankly, it terrifies me that the Keypoint organization is riddled with such incompetence. - read more

When KPCU updated their online system recently and I was not able to login online to my business account due to the 2-factor authentication issue, I called their customer service and spent almost an hour on the phone without any resolution.
