Notary who helped me was professional, thorough and helpful. Highly recommend. Teller that waited on me was also pleasant and knowledgeable.

TD Bank - TD Bank

TD Bank

First round with TD: nice guy in Springfield, MA…read more Second Round: Burlington, VT- young guy- probably the youngest guy working at TD that works with accounts. Basically, we had an overdraft charge, though with overdraft protection on a new student account. We had not engaged the account in any business activity, were new to town and to make a long story short- the bank, in good faith given the circumstances, should have refunded the fees ($55 total) as extenuating circumstances arise. Well, this guy (a kid really- 23 years old perhaps) working there sits behind the desk, picking at his cuticles and condescendingly speaking to my girlfriend and me about how we "would not learn a lesson" from the experience of the overdraft and then late fee erroneously applied. I told this fellow that TD Bank is not in the business of educating people about personal finance, but in the business of making money through their customers including charging dubious fees that arise from convoluted business practices. In the end, he acquiesced, pulling the whole "I'm feeling nice today" BS, and the fees we removed. His communication was piss poor, attitude- cocky- just a cheap suit paper pusher that had to bow down to basic reasoning, decency, and using good judgement- all which he seemed to lack. Next time we walked in, he was flirting it up with a couple young coeds at the same desk while we worked with another, more respectful bank representative. This fellow is the reason TD Bank Burlington gets two stars- the kid alone commands a failing grade.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This is a terrible bank…read more I'm trying to settle a late relative's estate from clear across the country. TD Bank in Bennington, VT refused to even tell me if my late brother was a bank customer. In order to provide even the most innocuous of info, they tell me I need to either hire a lawyer to wrangle with them (at $250 an hour) or show up with the paperwork in person at the bank branch (at least $1000 in airfare, plus hotel and rental car). I don't want to do either of those things since I don't even know if my brother still had an active account there (he was a very poor record-keeper). I live in San Diego - there are no TD Banks on the West Coast. The bank made no attempt to be helpful whatsoever. Sweet, soft-spoken but useless and clueless staff. Just don't bank with these folks. Just don't. They don't know the meaning of customer service, and if your relative dies and you're the out of state administrator, they seem to be fixated on making your experience as onerous as possible.

Having been a member for over 33 years I have seen plenty of good and bad. But what they are now is beyond bad. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere if you are looking for a new credit union. The lines at their branches are often so long that people give up and walk out before being helped. Their on-line bill paying app has been upgraded to a unreliable mess. Often bills don't get paid. When you call up and ask why the staff tells you that you didn't pay the bill. I've resorted to taking screen shots of it being confirmed. When I try to send them the image they tell me that they can't receive the image to avoid the truth. When you call up half the time you get an answering service who can't really do much. When you ask to have someone call you back who can rarely do you actually get a call. With less than 2 years to go on my mortgage I'll stick it out until then. But once that's paid I'm gone and never looking back. I have yet to find any other people who are members who don't feel the same as me.

She was told what ID to bring and that it would take about 5 minutes. The second time, we arrived at 415 (the earliest she can get there) to find that they close at 4 on Thursdays for no apparent reason The third time, we arrived on Friday at 415. They stay open until 5 on Fridays. We were the only customers- there were 3 employees there. We were told that they couldn't possibly open the account then , and that she needs an appointment ( something i have NEVER had to do in nearly 60years of banking). She scheduled an appointment for Saturday. The FOURTH visit, we arrived on time. There was another family opening an account but again it was nearly empty. We got right in and they opened up a checking account. We attempted to set up mobile banking and downloaded the app. We could not input the information as the app wasn't responding. Then they went to create the debit card( the entire reason for our FOUR visits). Note they advertise instant debit cards. And....... They cannot currently get their machine to work so they have to mail it. AND we wasted a half hour there this morning NOT just 5 minutes. Do yourself a favor and find a better bank- theres plenty of choices out there

We've been members of Vermont Federal Credit Union for 26 years. In fact, my husband was a member…read morebefore it was actually Vermont Federal CU and was the Government Employees Credit Union. (I think I have the name right.) We've had decades of experience. The $25 Fee Mentioned in Other Reviews The $25 fee is not actually taken from you. It's a credit union not a bank, so that's your membership fee. If you cancel your account, you get it back. That's not a problem to us. Exceptional Tellers The tellers at any of the locations are outstanding. They always have a smile on their face and get to know customers by name. I like that aspect. It's nice to go in and feel important rather than brushed aside like some of the banks I've used in the past do in the rush to get people in and out of their line. Slow to Get New Credit/Debit Cards Out and Be Careful Where You Make Purchases I second that if your card is compromised through a hack, such as we faced with TJ Maxx and Hannaford, it takes a few weeks before the new card arrives. It leaves you with nothing to do but either go to the bank to get cash or write checks for a few weeks. The other issue happened too many times to my son. VTCFU hates certain online stores, NewEgg being one of them. He placed many orders with NewEgg to have his card declined. He'd think he entered the number wrong, but still not have it go through. He'd go to use his card elsewhere and find the card had been frozen. No matter how many times he told them NewEgg is a respectable online store for computer parts, whatever company manages the credit and debit card transactions kept putting the freeze on, even when he called first to alert them that he'd be buying parts from NewEgg. He gave up and changed to another credit union and no longer has that issue. Getting Issues Resolved Most of the time, getting any issues resolved or questions answered is simple. I don't bother calling anymore. They are not as quick to answer phones and I don't like having to decide what number to push. It's much simpler to log-in on your computer and submit a help ticket through the online system. I usually have the answer I need within an hour. The Aforementioned "Most of the Time" Here's where I do get frustrated and the reason I cannot give them four or five stars, and my three-stars is tentative at best. Someone recently made the decision to move some loan payment dates up from the end of the month to mid month. I was told it was for easier tracking with all the loans they offer. Anyone with a due date of the 30th was being moved to the 15th, like it or not. While they did give the required two-weeks notice, during property tax season when you're paid twice a month and can't change when you're paid, two weeks is not enough time to get money together to cover a bill that wasn't supposed to be due until the end of the month. The advice I got was to pay the loan late, and that wouldn't matter because we had a 15-day grace period. We could essentially keep paying on the 30th and not be penalized. After reading over our loan paperwork, paying late would in fact have mattered. The 15-day grace period I was told we have is actually 10 days per the paperwork. Being fed incorrect information doesn't make for a happy customer.

You get the feeling that they just see you as a $$ign. This NBT though is not the ubiquitous VT local because they have Carol. She really had the true sense of Local - treating customers like her neighbors! Very refreshing and for the first time this season I felt more than just $ to VT retailers and farmers. About a month ago, I decided to visit Montreal last minute and needed to exchange USD to Canadian currency. I don't have a local bank and my banks didn't have exchange capabilities in VT. When I called around, I found out that many local banks only provide the service for their members or charge extra (a lot) for the service. More hassle and nickel and diming. Not so at NBT and Carol was so helpful - fair exchange rate and no nickel and diming. When I got there the next day, she came by and said "hello". This is VT I remember and Carol was very welcoming! The exchange was pleasant and I was so happy that I told how great NBT is to everyone that week! At the end of the day, it's about people who make the difference.
