I have had great experiences with Dr. Manternach and staff. Unfortunately, this past time my interaction with the reception staff made me debate if I wanted to order my contacts through them again. They were rude, inattentive and there was not communication between the two receptionists as we waited in silence for a few minutes because of the lapse. I was with my mom who went up to order contacts of her own (as I was back for my appointment.). The reception staff greeted her with "What do you want," and "we just need to do it at the end." Very disappointed in the service, would be switching if Dr. Manternach wasn't so great! read more

I had no idea what direction to look towards and she took the time and had the patience to walk me through a bunch of different models and the factors that go into finding a pair that fits well. Key City Vision is without a doubt the best vision center experience I've had. I've gone there three times and every time has been perfect. Jeff is a fantastic optometrist. Super friendly and knowledgeable. He explains what he's doing during the eye exam without being overly complicated. He always explains any changes that have occurred since your last visit, instead of just saying "you need stronger contacts" or "you might have glaucoma, but I'm not sure" (I've literally had an optometrist tell me that once without even explaining what glaucoma is). He seems to really care about the patient's experience. The opticians and other staff are also very friendly and helpful. Like Jeff, they explain every process of the exam that they perform and don't act frustrated with you if they have to repeat a step because you couldn't stop blinking or whatever. The location is convenient and the office has a nice clean, modern feel. Appointments can usually be made with just a few days' notice and I have never had to wait more than five minutes. Dr. Jeff does everything he can to make his patients happy & satisfied. I broke a contact lense and he made sure I got a new pair very quickly for a special event where vision was especially important. Since moving to Dubuque 10 years ago I have been through one eye clinic after another on the west end. I have never been really satisfied with any of them, either their buildings are dingy, their staff is rude, they have problems ordering the right contacts, or usually it's some combination of the above. I am so happy a friend referred me to Dr. Maternach at Key City Vision; I went for a check up this morning. I've been in glasses since I was 3, so I've had my fair share of eye exams, but never this friendly, efficient and thorough. Dr. Maternach explained everything in great detail and their equipment is like none I've ever seen. WAHOO! No puffs of air in the eye!! I HATE that! The facility is immaculate, beautifully decorated and spotless! I'm glad I've finally found an eye care "home" in Dubuque instead of making do with someplace I'm not satisfied with just to get my contacts script renewed. read more

I don't usually make reviews, but I had to for Key City. My first time there and it was awesome! Every one I encountered was so nice and helpful from the second i walked in. The optometrist answered all of my questions and was very helpful. They helped me learn how to put in and take out contacts. Even when it took me 15 times they were still so patient and helpful. Ashley helped me pick out frames for new glasses and she was wonderful too. She was honest about which frames looked better on my face. And even picked out the pair I ended up choosing! I've been putting off getting a new prescription for 4 years and I'm glad I did! Great place. read more

I wound not recommend this place to anyone. The frames are overpriced and not even in style anymore! The staff was rude to me and my daughter, wouldn't even help adjust her glasses. I will be taking my business to Klauer Optical or Lenscrafters instead, they have at least been around longer and probably still will be. read more
