Needless to say, it didn't hold up and even had the wrong pump. It was for an above ground pool, not our 16' x 32' pool. Anyway, everything broke down two years ago just when we were getting ready to close it for the season. due to unforeseen circumstance, the pool was never properly closed and it became a giant cement pond that the bullfrogs came to call their own. My husband had tried and I knew something was off because that wasn't like him at all (he's been diagnosed with dementia). Anyway, I saved my money and had Aiken Pools come out and give me an estimate to get this pool back in working order. They were prompt and courteous and professional in every way possible. I'm a professional artist and they were great working around my schedule. The pumped the pool out, installed the new liner, installed the new equipment. Everything was perfect.. we turned it on and it flipped the breaker in the house.. then the pool pump burnt up. They were out the next day to replace it and that pump bit the dust. The electrician came out and changed the breaker, no good.. we had DJ the equipment tech and the electrician out numerous times trying to figure this out. Throughout the entire process Aiken Pool Company went above and beyond in helping us get this pool going. We are not rich, we live on a fixed income and Aiken Pool Company worked tirelessly to help us find an economical way to take care of this. I give Aiken Pool Company a ten for professionalism and definitely a ten For their employees..

Complaint Summary: Unresolved spa leak, cracked concrete and…read moretiles, broken heater, and nonfunctional wireless system -- all left unaddressed despite repeated requests for service since 2022. Detailed Complaint: On July 15, 2021, we contacted Pete Alewine Pool and Spa for a consultation regarding the construction of our pool and spa. After meeting with Mr. Pete Alewine himself, we were informed by Stephanie W. that the project would not begin until the later part of 2022. Despite the long wait, we were confident that this was the right company for us and believed the quality and professionalism would be worth it. Our pool was eventually installed, and we were initially pleased with the work. However, only a few months after completion, major issues began to surface -- and despite numerous attempts to get them resolved, we have yet to receive proper service or follow-up. August 24, 2022: We contacted Diane B. to report a major leak in the spa, including photos. Diane promptly responded that Paul had reviewed the photos and that someone would come inspect the issue. No one ever came. September 8, 2022: The leak worsened, and the surrounding concrete and tiles began cracking. We reached out to Diane again with updated photos. Still, no one came. September 16, 2022: We contacted Diane once more for assistance. Again, no response or service visit followed. August 31, 2023: We reported further cracking around the pool and spa, likely caused by the ongoing leak. No resolution was provided. June 6, 2024: The heater, which was still under warranty, broke. It took over a year before someone finally replaced it. Throughout this time, I repeatedly called the company asking to speak directly with Mr. Alewine, but was told that was not possible. Each time, I was assured that someone would come out to resolve the problems -- yet no one did. July 14, 2025: I contacted Allison M. for a status update and provided new photos showing worsening damage. Allison said someone would review the photos and get back to me. September 3, 2025: I reached out again to Allison and Tim for an update. I received no response. It is now October 2025, and we are still waiting for someone to repair the leaking spa, cracked and uneven concrete, and damaged tiles. Additionally, we paid for the installation of a wireless connection system for the pool and spa, which has never functioned properly. To make matters worse, we continue to pay nearly $500 per month to Pete Alewine Pool and Spa for cleaning and maintenance of a pool and spa that we have been unable to use since August 2022. We have remained patient and loyal customers, choosing not to escalate the matter in hopes the company would honor its commitment to service. Unfortunately, after over three years of unresolved issues and unreturned communication, we feel we have no choice but to file this formal complaint. Desired Resolution: We respectfully request that Pete Alewine Pool and Spa: Immediately repair the spa leak, concrete, and tile damage. Ensure the wireless system functions as originally promised. Provide written confirmation of warranty coverage and a service schedule for completion. Consider partial reimbursement for the extended period of lost use and ongoing maintenance costs. Mr. Alewine, we chose your company because of your professionalism and reputation. We only ask that you uphold those same standards now by resolving these long-standing issues as soon as possible.

The pool was only 3 years old and we had to replace the heater, salt cell and skimmer. The person I worked with who's name was Charles was extremely rude. At first I thought it was because I was a women so I told my husband to deal with him. He also treated my husband rudely. The kid who they had taking care of the pool actually told me he would make our pool his last stop because he knew we weren't here. He said he would change into his swim suit in his truck and go swimming. Needless to say we moved on to another service who knows how it treat their customers.

Berry already has a reputation for being an ASS but I can confirm right now that it is well deserved. I've also purchased a Green Egg and a table for the egg from him along with other miscellaneous items. I don't live in Aiken but still went to him for all my Bioguard supplies. Beware! We ordered a hot tub cover that took awhile to get delivered. Could be from Hurricane Helene. That was ok with us. But then we needed a new Hot Tub Lift because ours was rusted out. We bought and paid for a new Hot Tub Cover Lift. The day they were supposed install, they left a phone message saying, it would be delayed. No problem. HOWEVER, Chris called on the 20th of Feb saying he would be there on the 21st at 0800-0900. He showed up at 0830 and said he would be done in 20 minutes. We went out just to see the new lift kit after he left without saying a word, and found that he only replaced one part of it and used the OLD parts of it. Plus he left his trash outside and did not take the old lift. WE PAID FOR A TOTAL NEW LIFT KIT!!!!! We called Pete Atlewine, confirmed it by them that we paid for a new kit.Chris called us back and said the sometimes they use parts from other kits to replace (????). What, was he saying they don't buy new parts and use refurbished ones??? Chris said he would call us back in a few to get it straightened out. Chris did say "well if you want me to replace it I will." We told him we paid for a NEW one WE wanted a NEW one. What was he hiding???? NEVER HEARD back from him. Never hear heard back from Pete Atlewine either even after a phone call. We FINALLY called at 2:00pm to see where we were at and had to leave a message. Service only took messages as they were busy. We are so disappointed in Pete Atlewine's service when it came to this lift kit. Chris came to our house mad to install it the evening, slamming things on top of hot tub cover, with a chip on his chip his shoulder and truly we know this is not the company for us. So disappointed. We have been with Pete Atlewine for years and the service has just flopped. Sad. Then when he was done with everything, replacing lift kit, he said he was sorry, but still left with an attitude, again chip on his shoulder. PLEASE PETE YOU CAN DO BETTER.

His behavior and customer service attitude is by far the worst we have ever delt with. One of the biggest issues with Pete Alewine Pools was in January 2024 when we received a $2,000 water bill. We had previously spoken with the pool technician and gave him permission to add water to pool since it naturally evaporates and cleaning could also drain water. He assured us he would turn the water off when done. When we got the water bill I did research with the water department and they pinpointed the date and time the water was turned on (and turned off). I called Charles and spoke to him about issue as the only people at house would have been the pool technician. Charles of course stated it was not his technician and completely refused to take any responsibility. Since we had no proof, we dropped the issue and worked out an agreement with the water department. It still cost us over $1500. The next issue was when we were told we had to replace our sand filter with the new cartridge type. This would have cost over $3,000. We declined. Next issue was yesterday. Due to us not being home and lack of ability to add water to pool the pool water is below the scupper. I called Charles at Pete Aelwine and he told me the valves had been adjusted to internally circulate the water without going through scupper intake. Due to this and low water, our buyer immediately thought there was a huge leak in the pool. After a leak test it was determined that the pool had no major leaks and there was a very very small leak in a grout line on the decorative tile at top of pool. It was determined this could have been caused by allowing calcium buildup and then scraping with wire pool brush and grout coming out. This issue was not huge and we shrugged it off. However, when the agent and buyer attempted to turn on the pool/spa heater it did not work. I was FaceTimed and asked if water was running through the heater. The agent and buyer could not tell. I called Charles and asked to send someone out to look at it. I was told there would be a service charge. On Wednesday, the technician (Dustin I think) came out to look at it. I do not know what he did, but he told both the agent and buyer that the heater was bad and needed to be replaced. He not only quoted $5,000 he also to the buyer that the heater was obsolete and discontinued. As one could imagine, this created a huge problem with the buyer and could have possibly caused us to lose the sale of our home. (We still do not know if this can be rectified due to the Pete Alewine technician saying the heater was obsolete and discontinued.) Today I spoke with the leak technician and asked about the pool heater. He informed me that he was curious about it himself as the heater was the "MOST POPULAR AND COMMON HEATER AROUND". It was covered by our deck and out of direct sunlight and wind. He took it upon himself to readjust the valves and miraculously the heater came on and started to heat the water. He explained to me that there are flow meters and if the system does not have enough water flowing into it then it will not work. Hence my asking the agent and buyer if they saw water flowing through it. I am now told our heater works completely fine and does not have to be replaced. We are currently not living at house and rely on your help and service to maintain our pool. We believed we could trust Pete Alewine. Unfortunately, it seems our trust may have been unfounded. What is extremely troubling out of all of this is the following: I called Pete Alewine to discuss this last issue with the pool heater. I also had videos of the pool showing white particles on the bottom, which clearly showed the pool had not been cleaned in a while. I used to get text messages or emails telling me when the technician was at the home cleaning the pool and when he left. I no longer receive them. I got in touch with the GA office and spoke with someone there who told me to send an email with the videos and explain what happened. I did exactly what she told me to do. I got a call from Charles a few hours later and he was very upset on the phone. He told me they did not break my heater (no one claimed they did) and that he had spoken with the owner Mr. Alewine and they now have decided to remove me as a customer and no longer service my pool. WOW!!!! Once again Charles's customer service and attitude is below anything we have ever seen from what we thought was a reputable company. Not only will they try to rip you off on your service and repairs, if you catch them at it, they then fire you and no longer want to service your pool. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Tyler made great suggestions on where to place the heater as well as moving some other equipment as well. We switched to Elite for pool maintenance after the heater install because we found Elite very easy to work with and conscientious. Lastly, we just had a pool update that included a new liner, replacing white metal edging with cobblestone and repair of cracks, addition of drain for deck, Cool Deck application and painting. Tyler and Joe worked together to give us an end product we love. Their attention to detail and willingness to please is beyond most any work by contractors on our home projects. There's even a great gift box idea where you can create a personalized box of canned produce, sauces, etc. I really enjoyed walking around this large place while enjoying free fresh water, fresh fruit samples and a (purchased) cold ice cream sandwich that was DELICIOUS! It's unfortunate I live 2500 miles (and a plane ride) away. But I'm going back there with lots of ideas from my afternoon at Cold Creek.

Cold creek is the best nursery in the area. They have it all here: a great selection of any garden…read moreplant you can think of, a little shop of locally made canned and fresh foods, a garden shop, and beautiful displays to get ideas flowing for your own garden. I have never seen such a comprehensive collection of camellias, and you can find basically any variety (or something very close to it) that you're looking for. They also have a fantastic carnivorous plant section that is a lot of fun to just browse. The workers here are lovely and clearly love their job. There's always one close by to answer questions and help decided on what to get. Cold creek can be on the pricier side compared to big box stores, but you definitely pay for what you get here, and the extra cost is worth it!
