I recently saw Dr. Samouilov at Sunshein Podiatry Associates for a nasty sprained ankle due to a sports injury. I was pretty much unable to walk and using borrowed crutches. I called for an appointment and was happy they saw me the same day. The front desk crew and medical assistants were friendly and professional. Dr. Samouilov had my foot xrayed to rule out a break because the swelling and pain were so bad. I was put in a walking boot and given very helpful instructions to care for my ankle. Dr. Samouilov was down to earth, knowledgeable, and professional. I am happy to report that after the prescribed physical therapy and care from Dr. Samouilov and staff, my ankle is healing! I would definitely recommend Sunshein Podiatry Associates to anyone with a foot or ankle issue. Don't wait on it. For real. Just get it checked on! read more

So, he's got his own store in the clinic. I understand that private practices need to make money other ways besides insurance companies - I worked in a private practice before. But NONE of the options he recommended were options that my insurance would cover. His first recommendation was for a $500 laser procedure that would be just as effective as a pill, but he said he does not prescribe the pills anymore because they have "possible" side effects like kidney damage. ANY medication will give you kidney damage if you take more than you're supposed to, and I didn't take him as the type of doctor who would prescribe more than the necessary amount. My point, NO I'M NOT COMING OUT OF POCKET $500 FOR A PROCEDURE MY INSURANCE DOESN'T COVER WHEN YOU COULD EASILY PRESCRIBE ME SOMETHING JUST AS EFFECTIVE THAT MY INSURANCE WILL COVER. In fact he TOLD me that the prescription I needed would most likely not be covered by my insurance and would cost about $200, whereas HIS other products would only be $36/each. Well, I pay for insurance for a reason. There was no reason for me to come out of pocket for anything. So I didn't. I told the receptionist to wait before scheduling a follow up appointment until his assistant came back from Dr. Sunshein with a prescription for what will help my problem. I got that prescription. I didn't cost me a DIME. And I can already see it start to work. So by all means, sell your stuff if it works. I'm glad it works. I'm glad for you that it sells. But don't you EVER think of me as so stupid that I'd buy something simply because I'm scared my insurance might not pay for an alternative that doesn't make you any more money out of me. I know what my insurance covers and what it doesn't. And I'm sorry they probably don't pay you as much as you'd like, but find a way to MARKET your products. Slow? Okay, he might be worth it. Rude staff? Okay, he might be worth it. Wants me to spend $800 out of pocket for orthotics that he says aren't going to actually help my feet? Nah, he's not worth it. I did wait an hour -AN HOUR! - and after watching the waiting room empty, twice, and I asked why my name was never called, they repeatedly smiled and said, "There are two doctors and the patients you're seeing leave may simply be here to see the other doctor..." which means the other doctor must be much, much more efficient at getting people taken care of than Sunshein is. Why didn't he explore other options with me besides this orthotics thing? Do I look like I've got deep pockets? My insurance would actually cover the orthotics, if I had met my $1000 deductible. (But as I age into Medicare, Medicare won't cover.) Oh, and after getting the orthotics, I would need five follow up appointments, co-pay of $40 each, so that's another $200. I have orthotics I like, but he didn't like them. But his won't permanently help my feet, and his will wear out after 18 months, he said. What??? read more

Always running 30 to 60 minutes behind. I have been seeing Dr. Sunshein for about 3 years. He is ALWAYS late. Even when i had my foot surgery and i was his very first of the day. We almost lost the Operating Room because he was 45 minutes late. I saw him yesterday for a 3:15PM appointment. He finally came into the room at 4:05PM. If i had shown up to my appointment an hour late, i would have been told to hit the bricks, and i probably would have been charged for the appointment too. When he asked how my feet were doing, I mentioned they still had some pain. He got borderline confrontational. Within 5 or 10 minutes, he was done talking at me and wanted to schedule another appointment in 6 months. I fired him. I had to leave work an hour early to make this appointment on time, just to have to sit and wait an hour to be seen. He had zero remorse. when i told him why i was frustrated, he said "I'm sorry you feel that way." What an arrogant jerk. read more

My experience with Dr. Sunshein is that he is a very caring doctor. He took his time to really listen to me when I first saw him for heel pain. I had been in pain for years. The custom orthotics that he made for me changed my life! Now, years later, I am seeing him again for neuropathy. He has me on a new treatment called Neurogenix. It is helping me so much! I am back to walking even more than I was previously - up to 8 miles a day. I wish the treatment was covered by insurance but that is on insurance companies not doctors. (Seems like insurance will never pay for anything new and cutting edge.) At least with Dr. Sunshein, I had the option of the treatment or not, because I would rather have lived with my tired legs than have ever given in and started meds. For over 5 years now Dr. Sunshein has kept me up on my feet, and now too my legs! Thanks Dr. Sunshein! read more

I wasted so many hours in the waiting room than I care to admit. Plan on waiting at least an hour before being seen with the exception of an 8:00 am appt, but then I still waited 10 minutes since he arrived after me. I went there for foot pain that he never was able to diagnose, but he did push orthotics on me. I had to wait forever with numerous calls about getting my reimbursement from them for the orthotics. would not recommend him, first visit seemed to go great, however each visit after was awful! "you have a fracture" he tells me, then when I question this again on another visit, he says "what fracture? hmmm Never did find out what was wrong with my foot, he talked me into his amazing MLS therapy, at the cost of over 700.00, not covered by insurance, which I foolishly agreed to. But when you are in constant pain, you will try anything. Do Not waste your time or money on this!! Was scheduled for an appointment after my last MLS therapy, waited for over 45 minutes, patients time clearly do not matter to him! I could hear him talking to someone else as I waited, mind you no one was in the waiting room before I was led to a room, never to be checked on or told anything. Went to the checkout desk, told them I was leaving, I am done. He nor his office even had the decency to reach out to apologize! It is clearly all about how much money they can gouge from you!!!
