My friend has been raving about this buttermilk fried chicken from kettle everyday of my life since she tasted it. Curious and hungry, I waited for that day to finally have a taste of it. When I saw their menu it was kinda pricey but still I want to taste it to know what the hype is all about. My order came and marveled! That's a big serving for one! I tasted it and it's really good I couldn't help the Asian in me and asked for a cup of rice although there's a corn bread to match the chicken already. I'm glad that my money did not go to waste. Try ordering their clam chowder and potato strips too!

I love Kettle! It's a go-to restaurant of mine when I'm in the Shangri-La mall in fact. I think I've tried about half its menu. It's one of those classic places that you can't go wrong with. The service and prices are decent, the quality of the food is consistent; plus it serves comfort food! Maybe it's just me but I have a real soft spot for comfort food restaurants because I feel there's a great lack of them here. I always - without fail - get the Truffle Gorgonzola pasta, the Mac and Four Cheese, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with corn muffins. They're personal must-haves. If you're going to be dining with a larger party, here are some other dishes I recommend: Baked Brie, Kettle House Salad, Grilled Cheese, Reuben, and Corned Beef Hash. Now that I think about it, I've never had dessert there. I suppose I was always too full to. Tip: It would be better to come in a little early or book a table because it isn't unusual to be wait-listed.

I had a date when I visited Kettle. Yay me for not eating alone like I usually would. I actually like the floor-to-ceiling glass panels and the bistro feel inside. They package the area as a comfort food place, after all. The restaurant, though, is famous for their Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Friends and food bloggers recommended it so I gave that dish a try. It comes with country gravy and Cajun honey, and some honey-glazed cornbread on the side. I love the cornbread. Their chicken was remarkable, but I wasn't expecting the cornbread to be that good. And they have cakes! Yay? I got their Checkered Cake for Php 209 and loved how it looked like. Not a huge fan of the frosting but the cake has this dryness that is quite nice for me. They also offer an Australian lamb adobo dish that I will definitely try on my next visit.

I really enjoyed Kettle's Buttermilk Fried Chicken and their Truffle Gorgonzola Pasta when I ate in their Shangri-la branch this month. The fried chicken is good for 3-4 pax and is served with gravy and cornbread. What I love about the chicken is that it is so tender and there are absolutely no bones! You don't have to worry about taking a solid bite and then accidentally and painfully biting a bone mixed in with the meat. I also love dark meat so I like how tasty their chicken is. I also enjoyed their Truffle Gorgonzola Pasta. Being a pasta and cheese lover though, one serving I think is enough for just one person. It is very creamt and heavy though, so others may opt to share it or order another dish to complement it. The chef was very hands on and I give him plus points for approaching our table to check if we enjoyed our meal.

I absolutely love comfort food! Who doesn't, right? For me, Kettle's menu is just pure Southern comfort. I always go here solely for the Clam Chowder. They're very generous with the seafood in it. They even place it in a bread bowl! It could be a meal in itself. It's rare to find really good chowder here and I'm glad Kettle finally made one. Recently, their Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Caesar Salad stole my heart! It's just feel good food at its best. The chicken is cooked just right and is moist when you dig into it. They did a good job soaking it in buttermilk for hours. There's just no fried chicken like it. I personally think it's also a good place for groups of people to eat lunch or dinner. Every time I eat here with my family, we always have a good time and we leave with happy tummies!

It's a tiny bit embarrassing how many times I've eaten at Kettle. I start to feel nervous when the waiters recognize me for being there, yet again, to get my Buttermilk Fried Chicken fix but then I say to myself that they should be thankful for my loyal patronage lol! The food is just sooo good and comforting (as comfort food should be) and I can't get enough of it! I've made friends and family who were disbelieving of my hype fall in love with all that Kettle has to offer. Aside from their best selling fried chicken and its amazing gravy and honey dipping combo, you won't regret trying their Mac & Four Cheese and Truffle Gorgonzola pastas- super rich and super cheesy. I can also attest to the absolute yummy-ness of their U.S. Angus Short Ribs. For healthier (but still as comfort food-y) options, try their Miso Glazed Salmon with cold soba noodles and the Kettle House Salad (looove the toffee walnuts on top!)

Honestly, I had no idea this place existed, but luckily was paying attention when our driver drove past and I saw a massive line out the door at 1am. Luck would have it our hotel was just around the corner. We walked by one evening and decided it was way to crowded. With over an hour wait and every table filled we also knew pictures inside would be nearly impossible. With a couple hours to spare the morning we were leaving, we walked over after breakfast to check it out and maybe order something small to share. Of course, the desserts caught our eye and the rest was history. 1 massive dessert later, 2 of us could not finish, but throughly enjoyed every bite we ate. A daytime visit was the best choice. We pretty much had the downstairs to ourselves for pictures and several 2nd floor areas were purposely non-seating areas so patrons could take pictures. I could have spent hours here and would definitely return. The collection is unreal. The 50's vibe/atmosphere was on point, and the dessert (the only food I can judge) was delicious. If we had a place like this in Los Angeles, it would be a total hit.

It has a unique gas station theme, with classic cars, memorabilia, and a vintage vibe. They offer American comfort food like burgers, pizza, pasta, and hearty breakfast plates but surprisingly their Filipino favorite dishes are so good. Ordered the hipon (shrimp) sinigang & the sizzling squid. Both were so good. Loved the sauce on the squid. Loved all the veggies in the sinigang especially the okra & kangkong (watercress/morning glory). This place is great for casual dining and late-night cravings. They have a bar for those who want to enjoy a drink while soaking in the retro aesthetic. I stopped in here twice during my stay in the area. I also tried their chicken & waffle. It was really good too. I wish I tried their desserts but I was too full both times. They have merchandise to purchase as well if you need souvenirs. Staff were friendly.

One night, we passed by it and saw that we beat everyone out of their offices and got to the area early. We parked immediately and soaked the glory in for a bit before entering. I personally liked the feel of the place because it was casual but homey at the same time, without being cheesy. With statement posters adorning the walls and chalkboards advertising their specials, I knew I was going to like it here. We decided to share an order of their super duo which had ribs for two and a choice of two side dishes. I was happy to see that they offered spinach as a siding so I got that, while my dad ordered their spiced rice. Goodness gracious, it was good! The meat was tender, almost falling off the bone and their sauce is really good, a good balance of tangy, sweet and smokey flavor. While my Dad got their brewed iced tea, as drink and dessert, I got their chocolate shake which I enjoyed not just because of the taste, but also because of the candy sprinkles and marshmallow toppings. I wouldn't mind a good rub and ribs at Rub Ribs anytime soon.

Do those 2 things correctly and you're 95% on the way to a good burger. I mean, what did the burger ever do to you? Okay, enough of my ranting. I'm just happy to have stumbled across The Beef a few weeks ago. I've been to Hole in the Wall 2 or 3 times already yet I've never tried The Beef. It's an inconspicuous looking black and gray colored shop with a sign stating "The Beef" overhead. Maybe the reason I overlooked it the first few times I visited. Their menu is intriguing because it consists of only 3 items: burger, cheeseburger and fries. I went ahead and ordered a cheeseburger with fries and waited patiently. Little did I know what was waiting for me when I took my first bite into this burger. The burger is delicious and everything I look for in one: juicy, huge beef flavor and I particularly liked the salty, seared crust on the outside. The bun holding the burger appears to be brioche and is soft and spongy, which absorbs all the juices as you consume it. These 2 components alone make this possibly the best burger I've ever tried in Manila. The burger is also dressed with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and other condiments which only enhance the experience. This thing literally had me daydreaming about it after my first visit and I kept bothering my girlfriend that we had to return and trust me, I will. Pros -One of the best, if not the best, burgers right now in the Metro. -Simple menu. Cons -Pricey. Burger and fries will set you back at least P350. -Fries are meh. Last but not least: Dill pickles on a burger? Yes. Raw cucumber and/or sweet pickles on a burger? NO, just NO. Just wanted to get that off my chest.

Thus, I ended up at the nearest Wendy's. Usually, I would have food delivered from a Jollibee or Mcdo. But, when I want a meaty burger or just good hot food, I want to eat it minutes, seconds after it's cooked. That's why I LOVE Wendy's! The food is made to order. That's a big plus for me: getting hot, fast, filling food late at night when you've had a long day. Also, Wendy's really stepped up their game in terms of food choices + prices (Wendy's burgers used to be Php300+; now, a Baconator is like Php200! BIG meal, super savings!). This location is my fave because there are no lines and I can have the whole restaurant to myself (other branches are near call centers, so they are a bit noisy). My order took about 15 minutes which is fairly good considering the amount of food I ordered (LOL!). So, I almost always get the same order: a Chili bowl (I crumble crackers into it so that all the "soup" is soaked up), a Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburger + extra bacon because BACON, a large order of the baked potato with bacon and cheese, a Frosty and a Biggie Iced Tea. Today, I also ordered Cheesy Fries! YUM! Overall, I'm really satisfied with the food and service especially since they have added more items and the servings are HUGE! And they brought back their salad bar! Sure, the variety of veg wasn't admirable, but P200 to stuff your plate full of greens and potato and macaroni salad is a pretty great deal. I didn't end up getting a salad though, since I wasn't too hungry--I just got a small frosty (like about 9 oz) and a small pocket of fries for P50, which is a great deal, if you ask me. And they were as great as I remember. Someone left an extra half of a mushroom cheeseburger, which I ended up eating, and it was pretty good in all fairness. Damn, Wendy's.
