La Pastisseria - Cherry mousse. Beautiful but too sweet.

Everything is intricately, sophisticatedly decorated. They're all beautiful but not too beautiful…read morethat you feel bad eating it. Though one complaint, one major complaint I have with this place, is how overly sweet it all is. But with a cup of coffee it evens out. Xocolata Taronja (AKA- Orange chocolate mousse cake) - very flavorful without the chocolate overpowering it all. It's a good balance between the two strong flavors. The mousse layers as well, compliments the (chocolate) sàble base. La Cirera- (AKA- The Apple shaped cherry mousse cake) is incredibly adorable. The outside, though shaped and looks of a red apple, the inside is anything but. Cherry mousse with a thin but incredibly rich Nutella layer all resting atop a sandy shortbread base. It's mostly just beautiful.. the taste, though.. soothing, it's overwhelmingly sweet. Somethings are meant to be photographed and not enjoyed. Cherry flavors seem lost if one didn't know what flavor it was as they bite into it. Tartin - flavorful, sweet with a buttery crumbly base. At first bite everything's wonderful but at second, third chew, it starts to get too sweet. But still good. It's not as pretty as the rest but flavor wise, it works the best. Their pastry sections are more of their strong suit when it comes to taste. Croissants are flaky and buttery, not to mention a great deal for one. €1.10 for a plain croissant. It's also beautifully made. Overall, don't do what I did when I came here and try to eat all three super super sweet mousse tartlets in one sitting, instead maybe take them home or hotel and enjoy with some sugar-free coffee. This patisserie has their presentation down. But it's for the sweet tooth not for the faint-tongued. Service are generally well. All the employees there seem to speak English so if you're not from Spain or can't speak the language, no worries.

We picked up a couple of desserts from La Pastisseria on our last day in Barcelona…read more We were tight for time and our intention was always to pick up our cakes to go and that's what we did. I wished we had more time though. To our surprise, there was a cute little dining area in the back of the shop with couples and friends sitting at tables of two, eating desserts and sipping champagne. What a way to live your life! We went in to buy two individual dark chocolate cakes and that's what we got. When I look back at the photos we took and the selection of desserts, I truly regret not ordering more, and not getting something other than just dark chocolate. They had the most creative, colourful and beautiful desserts I've ever laid eyes on. Pure eye candy. We purchased two individual chocolate cakes. One was dark chocolate with a dark chocolate filling and the other was dark chocolate and walnut with a chocolate mouse filling. Both were f**king unbelievable! You know a place is good when they refuse to sell you their products if you aren't going to eat them in the next 10 minutes, or be able to put them into a fridge within that same time frame. I couldn't believe how serious they were about preserving the integrity and quality of their food - I was impressed by this and even more so by the desserts themselves. We will definitely be back for desserts and champagne the next time we're in Barcelona. Highly recommended. Five stars.

Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 103/100 !…read more Is it a deli? Is it a bakery? Is it a patisserie? The answer really is Foix de Sarria is all three. When you walk in you turn to the left and there are displays filled with artisan chocolates and well-crafted pastries. You look down the small shop and you see fresh baked bread on the walls and meats/cheeses also on display for gourmet sandwiches. Finally, if you turn ever so slightly you'll then see a line out the door for their ice creams, sorbets, and gelatos. On this hot day walking around Barcelona, these iced treats are magnificent. They have fruit sorbet flavors like mango that are refreshingly tasty. They also have gelatos that had a real deep creamy taste. We also purchased their fig tart and mango mousse and just looking at the photos below you'll be able to see the exquisite nature of each. Both were delicious and come in this gold packaging that just adds to the wow-factor of the desserts. You could find a dozen bakeries walking around this area. You might also find a handful of ice cream shops. But at Foix de Sarria you can have the best of both worlds in one stop. Worth a try!

We tried one of their chocolate desserts, a chocolate chip cookie and a matcha drink. All of them were great.. so great that I ended up buying a pistachio brookie to go. To this day we regret not buying more stuff to bring back home. The service was great and quick. The place was clean and cute to dine in with a few tables! Overall I'd definitely stop by if I'm in Barcelona again!

Had to try a gluten free bakery while in Barcelona of course (one of many). Chok is for chocolate…read morebut they didn't sell any actual chocolates... but there was a rotation of special flavored cinnamon rolls, rookies, brownies, mini cakes, cookies, and cheesecakes. There were a few loaves of bread but mostly there were those sweets and it seems they have those all the time. We got a regular cinnamon roll because the flavored ones didn't have as much of the frosting on it which is the best part, and a pistachio cream rookie... no im not sure what a rookie is but it looked like a Levain cookie (the famous one from NY) as it was a mountain of a dessert. We had both treats heated up... although they weren't actually hot lol. The cinnamon roll was on par with others I've had, maybe even slightly drier but the frosting was amazing and I still enjoyed it a lot. The rookie was quite decadent and the inside was an almost cake texture? Still quite tasty but I think both would've knocked it out of the park if they were actually hot and ooey gooey. Five stars because it wasn't bad but I can't say I'm super impressed. I will be going to other gf bakeries over this one
