I do not often post reviews, but want to encourage more business their way... This is our favorite local Indian spot, hands down. I've tried a handful around the Lawrenceville/Snellville/Grayson area, and none come close. I've appreciate some good Indian cuisine for the better part of 20 years, and although I don't venture too far from my normal favorites, everything I've had here is good. I'm the prototypical samosa/chicken tikka/naan eater, and these favorites are excellent. Maybe throw in some Chicken 65, aloo palak, or veg korma and you got a solid family meal. Don't forget to order some rice, and make sure you let them know how spicy (even though my family wants no spice - they do that too!) The one downside is it can take a while. If you call at 6pm on a Saturday, expect to wait at least an hour. The thing is, the food is truly homemade and fresh, so it takes time. It's definitely worth it, but there are times when we just didn't prepare well in advance, or they are really busy because they cater too. Normal times you can have your food in about 45min. We mostly do takeout, as do most I think, so if you are in the area and looking to sit down to eat, I've never seen it completely packed, so you don't have to worry about waiting to get a table. Don't be thrown off by the minimal signage or limited if not no people sitting inside - it's a perfect place to enjoy some incredible Indian from a family owned mom&pop restaurant. My husband, my friend & I visited this spot for dinner and it was a weird experience. Pros are shorter, so here we go: Food arrived fast and looked very appetizing. I got the kothu parotta, my husband the Butter Chicken with Naan and my friend, the Kappa and Ulli Theeyal. I've had better kothu parottas but overall the food tasted good. Cons: Strike #1: While placing the order, the guy with the cap on was annoyed and spoke insensitively. He perfectly fit the description of the rude guy mentioned on Google reviews. My husband told me to let it slide as it was nearing closing time and yes, maybe the guy was anxious. Strike #2: He asked us the spice levels and when my friend said spice level 3/10, he smirked, laughed and asked if she is a Gujju (Folks from Gujarat, India who get stereotyped for their spice tolerance levels). She took it sportively and said yes. Strike #3: This was when I started feeling very uncomfortable. My friend was checking out the snacks they had on display, especially the Achappam (A sweet, flower-shaped snack that's popular in Kerala). While we were discussing it, the same guy came to us and said 'Gujjus usually like this snack'. She was about to purchase it but rather came back quietly to her seat. Later, she told me that his comment was the reason why she didn't make the purchase. Making stereotypical comments - Way to go Kerala Kitchen! Despite all these, my friend and my husband did quite enjoy the food. They just wanted a good meal and leave without any fuss. My husband even tipped the guy! Do NOT visit this business. The man at the register/owner is rude, racist, and feels he can talk to people any type of way. I called and placed my order at 8:16pm. He told me on the phone that it would take 40 minutes since it was multiple orders before me. I called back again at 8:18pm and tried to cancel as I stated I needed to eat before 10pm. He stated on the phone that it was 8 o clock so that I would eat before 10 and if I wanted to keep the order. I said sure. At 9:01 he called and asked where I was. It is storming today, however I answered and stated I was 7 minutes away. I approached the business as he was at the register and his mom (the cook) is sitting behind the counter. I came in, kind, and said hello and that I was there to pick up. He (the owner) went on very rudely stating they close at 9pm and the food was rushed to cook because I needed to eat earlier than 10. I stated that he never told me they closed at 9 when on the phone. Regardless, I came to get the food and they were STILL there checking out, cleaning up, and mom sitting behind the register. He then got even more rude telling me he rushed her to cook the food (although I never asked for that service). She went on to explain she made the food just for me as quick as she could. I stated due to his response it wasn't even worth patronizing the business. He then went on to tell me that I was high (multiple times) on something because I can't do math as I added 2 minutes to the pick up time. I apologized to the mother as she cooked the food but stated due to her son's response I was not going to take their food. He then YELLED at his mother about having conversation about the situation with me. As I walked out the door I said "why are you talking to her like that?" That's what made the mother then change her demeanor. When I asked for her name and explained that I would be writing a review and that I would explain that she was kind and understanding but her son was not she did not respond to me any longer. This argument between he and I continued as he continued to call me high. I then took my phone out to record the conversation. Do not spend your money at such a business. It was nearly impossible for me to decide how many stars to leave, because the food I've tried from this establishment is truly terrific (we typically order butter chicken, palak paneer, goat curry, rice, naan, samosas, and/or chicken tikka masala.) The dining room is definitely heavy on the Jesus. Quotes everywhere, which is fine. A little unexpected in an Indian restaurant, but no one preached at me the way some have described in other reviews. I mention it only because it makes the places where they fall short even more glaring. When we dined in person, the service was fine. Only one person working with a fairly full dining room (it's small, so only takes a few parties to fill it up) so it was a little slow but yummy enough to be worth the wait. My wife requested Kerala for her birthday today, so I logged in this morning with the intention of making an order for tonight. Unfortunately, there's no way to make an online order, and when I tried calling, I kept getting a message that the voice mail was full. I wasn't sure that it made sense to leave a voice mail with a takeout order anyway, so... no biggie. I needed the food by 7, so after calling three times throughout the day and getting that message, I decided to go and make the order in person. This time a lady picked up, and it became obvious they were out of basically everything on my list. I went ahead and ordered some different things, and was then told it would be ready in an hour. I'm ordering for four people - this is NOT a large catering order. The lady then admonished me to "give me two hours next time you have a big order!" Again, my order was three entrees and a few sides. I started to explain I'd been trying to call since this morning, but she hung up. I arrived and mentioned that I was here for the takeout order. Guy behind the counter rolled his eyes and said "yeah I heard about you." Seriously. Right under his Jesus Is Coming sign. If my wife didn't have her heart set on this food tonight, I would have told them to forget it, but.... The food is good. It isn't worth the truly horrible service and lack of appreciation for their customers, though. I'm not Indian, and most of their customers are. I absolutely LOVED the samosas...chef's kiss. The outside of the samosa was so light and flaky. I could have eaten so many of them. The owner greeted us warmly and made a few suggestions. He suggested the chicken curry. It was nice and spicy and it was seasoned well. The dish was more curry than chicken. The chicken could have been more tender, it was a bit dry. White rice was an additional dollar per person. The rice was undercooked and bland. The naan was good, but small. When dining in, orders are placed at the counter. The food was served in Styrofoam bowls and plates. The original menu prices had all been crossed out and new prices were written in with price increases. It would look better if they reprinted the menus. I spent $25 for an order of $5 veggie samosa (2 in each order), rice $2, 2 orders of garlic Naan $3, and $14 for the chicken curry. The restaurant was decorated with lots of Bible scriptures. There was also various religious pamphlets around the restaurant to take if you'd like to know more about God. The Indian restaurant scene in the greater Atlanta area is robust, but this is different from anything else. Kerala is a particularly tropical state on the southwest coast of India, and the food here reflects the local culture. This is a tiny place and it is not fast food; I would agree with others who said that this place focuses on large takeout orders (presumably for parties among the local Malayali population). That being said, my wait was fifteen minutes or so, nothing crazy. I sampled an ulli theeyal, a coconut and mustard based dish with a robust, roasted flavor that I fully believe it takes four hours to make as they claimed. Finding that they were out of some appetizers, I went for a dosa, the savory crepe which is available in other South Indian places (but not your average Indian restaurant in America), which was an excellent preparation with the cabbage and carrots added to the usual filling. Cute little place. Has snacks you can purchase for Togo, the fried plantains are really good. Counter service but the lady who was the cashier is nice. Really delicious food and had a Yucca dish with beef that was really unique that I liked. Butter chicken was very tender. The samosa are spicy and a nice size. Oil taste fresh for the fried items. We visited for the first time today and absolutely loved the tikka masala, goat curry, paneer, and coconut rice. The entire dinner was wonderful. The prices were very reasonable and the hostess was very sweet. The goat was particularly good because it wasn't all bone like some places. We will definitely be back! read more

Just had lunch there and the food is excellent ( I say 'was' because the portions are big enough for tonights dinner as well) the restaurant is filled with the wonderful aromas of rich spices and baking breads. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting with a decorative family owned feel. The staff are pleasant and warm and willing to "custom" cook to their customers tastes. Great place for Kerala Food - always prepared fresh on order only. If you are looking for mallu food take out and catering, this is one of the places to consider and I highly recommend them. We have ordered and catered a couple of times - beef Ularthu, beef fry, kappa, fish curry, appam, fish fry, etc. Their beef Ularthu, kappa and fish curry are our regular repeat menu items. They do have a couple of tables at the location, however they may not have table service on all days they are open. If you are wanting table service, best option is to call and confirm. They also make many Kerala snacks like Achappam, banana (plantain) chips, etc. The snacks seemed to be all made at this location frequently and not sourced from other suppliers. We stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday. The food was delicious. Great authentic Kerala style food! It's a family owned business. Even though we were the only ones dining in at that time, I can tell they were busy. They focus more on catering. So just a fair warning - don't get disappointed if a certain dish is on the menu and it's not available for ordering. Also, don't be disappointed if it takes time to get the food. Great food takes time to prepare! We ordered parotta, fish curry, chicken curry, chicken stew, appam, kappa. Everything was great. Also, they have home made plantain chips. This Grayson eatery had good ratings so I thought I would quench my hankering for Indian Food by paying this eatery a visit. Mind you this place is nothing fancy at all. It's truly a mom and pop (family) operation that serves good authentic Indian foods. The average price for meals (all separate entrees; no combo plates) range from $10.00 to $15.00. The bulk of their business is catering (churches, weddings and other special events). So, it may seem empty when you arrive but they are in the kitchen preparing foods for their catering business. Lisa (owner) served me today. She was very pleasant and wanted to make sure my food was to my liking. It was. She also gave me a sample of their famous plantain chips .... Honestly, the best I've everrrr eaten! I ordered vegetable curry. It comes alone. The rice and the naan were side orders. All were delicious! Kerala is a hidden gem in Snellville serving up some delicious Indian cuisine. It's located in a shopping plaza next to a chevron gas station. The restaurant is not very big but the food is soo good and flavorful! I tried the biryani and garlic naan and it was soo good! I can't wait to go back for the samosas and butter chicken! I absolutely love supporting mom and pop shops! Especially this one right here! One of the reasons (for a restaurant) that I love this place, is that you truly get a homemade meal. I got the feeling that it was truly made with love, like you were in your own home and your mom just made you a meal kind of feeling! This was my first time here and I was not disappointed at all. I've only had Indian food once and was sadly disappointed to the point where I never wanted to try it ever again. This was over 15 years ago I might add. My husband and I gave this place a try due to all the great reviews and I figured it was time to try again. I'm so glad I did. The butter chicken was absolutely impeccable. I didn't even care about the meat because the sauce was so amazing! My husband said the beef in the beef curry was so tender and juicy. The garlic naan and porotta was delicious and paired perfectly with was we ordered. I will definitely be coming here again. I saw that a lot of people had to wait a long time however, we waited only a few minutes. Nothing outrageously long. I've waited longer in many other restaurants. The lady whom I'm assuming is the owner, was an absolute pleasure. She was also very sweet and had a good aura to her. I like the fact that my husband and I could eat in peace without someone disturbing us. I could easily get a hold of her if I needed as she and her husband I'm assuming with in the back cooking. Which was easily accessible, as you can see the kitchen through the door that was right behind the counter. There was a fridge with drinks so that was nice and easily accessible. I also loved the fact that she didn't want us to pay upfront after we placed our order but to wait at the end. She was so nice and trusting, which is rare these days. Also, when we left her a tip she said to put it in the charity jar. We insisted it go to herself/her restaurant but that she was welcome to do with it as she pleased. Lastly, I loved her little quote at the front. Which I took a photo and posted here.
