3.5 stars. Great place for snake lovers! The Kentucky Reptile Zoo has sooo many different kinds of snakes from all over! All so beautiful! I didn't notice that many other reptiles though. Just a turtle and an alligator. The KRZ isn't one of those zoos where you can walk around at your own pace, but is more of a guided tour. I would have enjoyed it more if we were on our own, but it's understandable since most of the snakes are venomous. I still enjoyed looking at the snakes and hearing about them from the guide. Admission is $10 per person. The tour takes about 30 minutes, more if you have a lot of questions. We didn't stay for any of the shows or venom extraction. They sell the anti-venom, but not to the general public.

This is one of those places that you wonder if you should really go in. Seems a little sketchy but we figured why not on our girls trip. It ended up being a really good adventure. The people working seemed knowledgeable , they were very friendly and they didn't just make stuff up if they didn't know the answer. They however knew. A lot. It's a very big facility but it's seems we only saw a small part. I thought the price was a little high but if you think of it as supporting a cause then it is easier to accept the price. Their collection was bigger than our own city zoo. It's a good way to do something different.

While not massive in size was still worth a visit. Wide variety of poisonous and non-poisonous snakes from around the world.

Very nice place! The guide was extremely knowledgeable and she was very nice and friendly. The place was a little small but the amount of snakes and friendly faces make up for it. Will be going back many times when I'm in the area.

This is absolutely the best place to see and learn about all kinds of reptiles. There's 70 to 80 specimens on exhibit probably 2000 on premises. Some of the world's most deadliest snakes. At 1 every day except on Tuesday's you can watch the director extracting venom from different species. It's a guided tour so you can ask all the questions you want. You can hold a baby alligator for 7.00. Cost is not expensive for the knowledge and experience you get here. The staff is amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable.

It was next to nothing but a nice place to stroll around a lake and feed the ducks. This summer when my daughter and grandson came to town they requested that we forego our annual trip to the Louisville Zoo and give the Salato Wildlife Education Center a try. We went there and my expectations were extremely low. I was pleasantly surprised at the changes that occurred since I was here last. The small museum utilizes every nook and cranny with exhibits It is very informative yet fun for all. Then after making the circle through the museum we exited the rear door to the outside and began our leisurely stroll down paths and around loops to see all the live wildlife. Even though there were multiple families visiting at the same time the grounds absorbed the people so you didn't feel like you were in a crowd. There are many opportunities for kids to have a hands on feel for the subject matters. So the $5. for adults and the $3. for kids was well worth our afternoon visit to the center. Woohoo, I'll be back on my own just to walk the grounds again.

We thought that meant that you'd be exploring and ziplining all through the cavern, but no. It's a ropes course, and the course is pretty small, and you're not really going into the cavern, which is a bummer. They do have a separate zipline tour, which is maybe more adventurous, but I wouldn't know because we didn't do that one. The ropes course is for ages 5 and older. Louisville Mega Cavern also offers a walking cavern tour and a tram tour, plus a drive-through Christmas lights display around the holidays. Be sure to book your activities in advance! This place is very popular and gets very busy. One thing to note is that outside food and drink are supposedly not allowed. (Oops, my bad. I didn't find that out until I had finished my tasty little tuna-and-crackers snack.) They also have lockers to put your things in if you don't have someone hanging back at the tables to hold your stuff.

When your at a place like this the history makes it so amazing. The rides might not be the best in the world but there's just something about it that makes you feel like a kid again. I would recommend anyone to take a weekend trip here. You won't be disappointed! My family spent 10 hours here and I can't imagine anybody leaving a bad review about this place.

I remember when I was planning my first trip to Huntington, and I was perusing Pinterest for fun…read morethings to do in this small city. I kept seeing photos of this super vintage amusement park that had an intriguing vibe to it. So a few of my friends and I hopped on over here to see what West Virginia's only amusement park was all about. To give a brief introduction of this place, Camden Park was built in 1903... Yeah, it's about 120 years old!! It was created as a trolley park, an attraction meant for those coming off of trolley lines, and is one of 13 that are still around in the United States. So if you haven't already noticed, this park is RICH in history! While walking around and checking everything out, you can definitely tell that this place is old... Some in good ways, and some not so good. The decor, signs and pretty much just about everything made me feel like I had been transported back into the 1950's. I actually found this pretty cool, as it made this historic park keep its vintage feel. But in some places, it felt like I was in an apocalypse. Some areas of the park were empty, covered with trees and felt eerie. Speaking of which, this park was featured as a location in a video game, Fallout 76, which essentially has to do with an apocalypse after a war.... crazy!! It's important to know that visiting here is nothing even close to going to a Six Flags or Disneyland. The rides are very similar to ones you'll find at state or county fairs. We came at the beginning of the summer on a Saturday. $20 for an adult, which seemed like a good deal for how many different rides there are here. Just like the park, the rides themselves are also old and outdated. I still remember watching the planks holding up the roller coaster jiggle as the trains would go by. There were little to no safety checks by employees, so riding some of these rides were a bit nerve-racking. And going back to the reviews about it being more for kids, well, yeah that is pretty much right. But there were a lot of gentle rides that we enjoyed, too! There are a couple 'big kid' attractions, but most are fairly tame. I want to conclude this by stating that I cannot compare this park to the average American one. It's too unique in its own way and has literally been around for over a century, which is one of its coolest qualities. Unfortunately, its age does show and it shows pretty bad. I feel like if this park ever got some revamping, it could become a lot more interesting to check out. While I wouldn't come here for a day of thrills or adrenaline, it would much rather be because of its old past... kind of like walking around the ruins of an ancient park. I probably would not have a desire to come back, but it was neat to check out at least once.

The shuttle transportation from the parking lot to the ark was dialed in. The gift shops were expansive. Not a great place to bring kids that are too young to read. My kids got bored right away. The ark has 3 levels and there's sooo much to read. I found some of the exhibits hard to read because the lighting levels can be low in places, and the font sizes too small. The line queues were confusing. Many times the line was situated in such a way that you couldn't bypass an exhibit. We even encountered another guest who wouldn't let us pass. We weren't trying to cut in line just skip the particular exhibit. The video they played in their theater area was incredibly hokey. We left after a few minutes. The little zoo was a nice change of pace from standing in lines and crowds. My kiddos loved the carousel. Pro tip: Visit as an adult, or with teens that are highly interested and ready to spend the day reading and studying the exhibits.
