Our first stay here was definitely 5 star. Large rooms, beautiful views, pleasant appointments. Our next, however... ugh. Barely worth two stars. My wife and I were put in a room (517) that was sufficient for one adult. Mind you, we are not large people! Nevertheless, we had to do a shuffle and a dance to move past each other in these tight accommodations.
When we first entered the room, the heater was on set to 30 C. This was in mid August! It turns out the thermostat on the wall only controls the old clunker by the window, which does not cool AT ALL. Fortunately there was a remote to operate the above-bed heat pump, which worked well. Oh, and about that window? It looks out over a shaft, and beyond that to a cement structure on the adjacent roof. If you look on either side of that, then you can glimpse the Bosphorus. Just don't look too far to the right, or you'll be staring into your neighbor's window! Yikes. The desk told us no other rooms were available. This was an unfortunate way to create a lasting impression of the Kent. read more
