Upon reaching the door we found it to be locked, but when we looked in the window we saw the owner Marti Lombardo working at her desk. We made eye contact with one another and she smiled. The first sign read "Open Saturdays 10am - 2pm" with another sign below that reading "Open Saturdays for Appointment Only". We figured that we would have to make an appointment for another time so we just decided to look at the few books that they had set up on their outdoor shelves. At this time we turned to see Marti Lombardo jump out of her chair and crawl under her desk in an attempt to hide from us. She was looking around the corner of her desk from the floor to see if we had walked away and was grabbing things from her desktop while still hiding underneath. We never knocked on the door or asked for any service. We were simply looking at the books they had to offer outside, but once Marti saw us, she decided to hide under her desk in an effort not to have any interaction with us for an unknown reason. I feel like this is VERY unprofessional and could have been handled in a completely different manner. Because of this experience we will NEVER be booking anything through Going Places Travel and we will definitely not be recommending this business to anyone.

On "our" block around our hotel, the Indigo (soon to be the Claridge), we had more restaurants than we could visit during our four-day stay. We could catch the taxi right outside our door and quickly get to the Museum of Science and Industry, and the Field Museum. Also, an architectural boat tour along the Chicago River. Everyone who works there is the sweetest, very knowledgeable, everyone is on one accord. They have different events, from murder mysteries to live music. Murder mysteries are 4-5 course meal that you can pair wine to, the other food within the pictures is from that event. It's so delicious perfectly paired and made. Pizza and cheese bread is delicious! We have also had the charcuterie boards. Love the chutney they use. The wine is great you can do wine tasting a tour, lots of beautiful outdoors views. Since coming for a year, they continue to expand this place and make it better and better!

You can purchase wine by the bottle and take the bottle with you in a special sealed bag for travel, if you don't finish it at the restaurant. My wife had their Chardonnay and I had a Blue Stallion Oktoberfest. For dinner, my wife had the Chicken Salad Croissant with Homemade Chips and I had the Hearth Burger with Homemade Chips. Both were very good. The Jenkins Twins were the live music tonight and they were great. I took a picture of their upcoming music talent for January and first part of February.

My mother and I decided to take a long weekend over the holiday and stay at the Bennett House. We…read morestayed in the cottage behind the main house because my mom wanted to bring her little dog...oh my gosh..it was just absolutely the most comfortable stay! So clean, organized and just adorable. We had a large bathroom, bedroom and living room. We ate breakfast at the main house and it was delicious and beautifully prepared! The owners are just the best! The house is beautiful and you are in walking distance of restaurants and little boutique stores. Very reasonable and definitely the best place to stay!
