They told me that even though I have to pay a £155 deposit, I had two options: 1) use the deposit to buy extra ammunition OR 2) get a refund. Two months later, I still have not received my refund. After several emails, the "manager" called me today and said that if I wanted the refund, I should have called them at 10am the day of the event. Mind you, I was busy paintballing at 10am on the day of the event. Biggest frauds ever. Take your money to an honest business.

It's got everything you would expect of a soft play area - huge slides, a rope swing, climbing wall, ball pit all on different levels. The equipment, seating areas and snack bar are exceedingly clean and well maintained. They have a lot of seating for parents - I particularly like the comfy sofas! - and a snack bar selling chocolate bars, drinks, etc but they also do really nice lunches at reasonable prices - home-made soups, pies, and a selection of sandwiches and salads. This is an equally great venue for a few hours to let the kids run around like crazy things or a birthday party.

The main play area is…read morechallenging enough for children to want to run about in for several hours, but accessible to 3 yr olds during the school week. The under 4s area is the best I have seen - again providing challenge along with fun activities e.g. ball pool, little tikes cars, baby walkers. Monkey Bizzness is well designed so that parents can sit at tables and watch their children. Although the table area is crowded it means there is always somewhere to sit, even at busy times. There is an extensive menu offered which had healthy and tasty food for adults and children as well as the usual fishfingers and chips etc. It is also very reasonably priced. At peak times sessions are limited to 2 hours but this tends to be on rainy bank holidays rather than a general rule.

Would you voluntarily get shot by a rapid fire machine gun at close range? The answer that any…read moresound-minded person would give to such a question would be Absolutely not, unless of course you like paintball. Paintball (and I'm sure the't' is silent) is surely the juncture at which BDSM and sport meet; not that I'd wear PVC on the field; too conspicuous. Not enough padding. Mayhem is astonishingly easy to get to; unlike some of these fields tucked away in Kent, miles away from any form of public transport, this venue is on the central line. Just get off at Theydon Bois (it's in East London, in case you wondered) and the shuttle which comes once every 10 minutes, literally dumping you at their doorstep. Their attitude to safety is suitably militant; you won't get away with any rapid fire shots when no-one is expecting it or off you go. The ranges are very diverse; loads of woodlands, some trenches to get muddy in, a wild west saloon with not much coverage, which pretty much guarantees a good bruising. Fantastic. The food however is abysmal. Coke? Burgers? Fizzy rubbish? No fruit? Come on. At least spare me a banana I went with a women's extreme sports group called Adventure Dykes; what I was later to learn was that three of our team were in the army and the rest were regulars, which may go some way in explaining why we kicked our opponents' butts. And that's ultimately what's so good about it. It's all about the 'I win, you die' mentality. In the nicest possible way of course

I was leary of Mayhem - I'd heard some mixed things, but only later realised that not all of the…read morepaintballing places named Mayhem are actually run by the same guys. What a relief! This place is actually legit. Having never been paintballing before, I don't have much to compare it to, but overall there was little to be unhappy about. Whilst organisation occasionally felt shambolic at the beginning, that was more a reflection of how hard it is to herd stag do attendees and the like, rather than the marshals' lack of organisation. Marshals were friendly, clear and safety-conscious. They were extremely clear about not taking off helmets at any time, and were reassuringly hard-line about this. They were accommodating and helpful throughout. The variety of scenarios was good - we didn't even get to try all of them, even thoguh we were there the entire day. Facilities besides the arenas aren't the best, but then expectations are very low - it's a paintballing outfit on a farm, so toilets of questionable quality was always going to be a risk. On the plus side, whilst I dreaded how bad the food would be, the burgers were actually edible and nobody got food poisoning, so I consider that a fairly high bar set. Really easy to get to as you just take the Central line to Theydon Bois and then they send down a shuttle coach frequently. Couldn't ask for it to be easier. It also seemed to attract a good crowd; the regulars, at least, were all really nice/helpful and didn't do the kind of eye-rolling and snorting at the rookies that you might expect. All in all, it felt like what a good paintballing place should, at least to this first-timer. I'm certainly intending to return.

Delta force has been around for a while but this was my first visit to a delta force venue. I have played previously and have enjoyed it. The day is split over the morning and afternoon. You play 3 scenarios in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. The checking in process on arrival is a little slow so arrive before the 9:15 time they tell you and you get in quick, after that who knows. They give you your kit as though you are on a product line, body armour, overall, hopper. Then you move onto collecting your helmet and get the briefing. This takes a bit of time but safety first!! Once you go through into the game area you are given your gun, oh on entry you get the option to upgrade to am M16 (£10) which has greater range. Then it's on, World War Two, protect the president, speed ball, gold rush, dawn of the dead, in the jungle. All different but similar shoot, protect, capture and so it goes on. They finish with a hunger games inspired event, carnage!! All in all a good day out If the weather is on your side, I can imagine that I it rains it would add to the atmosphere in the game area, but make sure you have your change if clothing. Last thing the paint balls, check out buying in bulk as they are costly and go very quickly once you get into the games and without them there is no fun!! P.S. Food option is pizza @£4.99 or bring your own!! Lockers are available for hire for £5 and you get £3 back once you hand the key back

Each team had about 15-20 people so it ended up being quite crowded on the day of my visit. Pizzas are ordered for lunch at £5 per person (9" pizzas). It's worth noting that although they do accept credit and debit cards, they charge 50p per transaction on debit cards and 2% if you use a credit card so bring plenty of cash. Staff really recommend you pay to upgrade to have an M16 and lots of other things, which we did, however the M16 was not worthwhile - the range was not much better, the sights do not line up to where you are shooting as they said it would it, and it just ended up being much heavier and more expensive than it needed to be. Also, paint grenades and flashbangs are a waste of time, stick to smoke grenades if you do end up wanting some things to throw.

It doesn't just have a paddling pool. It has a whole complex of them, on different levels. The centre of the site has a small hill. Another feature is a zipline (closer to ground level!). Overall great for the more active and adventurous kids, whether that means exploring a paddling pool for the younger ones, or heading for the slides for those older.
