I went as they got new shipment of roses in and they kindly put one aside for me. It was an hour drive but so worth it. They had such a grand selection of roses. I ended up purchasing 2. And now wish I'd purchased 3. The staff were so helpful and nice. I've never seen a place with healthier plants. The work they do is incredible. When I was checking out, they gave me a sheet showing I get a year guarantee on my roses. The prices are excellent too. Next year, Ken's will be my first stop for plants. read more

Plenty of beautiful shrubs, trees and flowers to choose from. Perennials or annuals, they have so many varieties and colors. Every plant I have ever purchased at Ken's has been healthy and transplanted easily. It's the only place I shop for my garden plants! read more

Ken's is the only two places I will by plants! Not only are they healthy and well taken care of, but they are beautiful! It's nice to get plants that have a head start by being healthy, rather than buying a dying plant you need to first nurse back to health. The best part is, you can get all of your flowers, shrubs, vegetables, pots, fertilizer and even decorations without breaking the bank. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable, and are able to assist you with any questions. During peak season, they have long hours which is perfect when you need to stop in after work to pick something up. This is the BEST place to buy plants. I always buy my flowers here every spring and autumn. Everything is nicely maintained and very healthy. Prices are reasonable and there's also a nice selection of gardening tools and accessories. The staff is always able to answer my questions to help me get the most out of my garden. Being the avid gardener that I am, of COURSE I made it a point to check out the local nursery while passing through. Hey now, you've got your idea of souvenirs and I've got mine! I loved Ken's Gardens. The selection was wonderful, albeit nothing that I could not get locally in suburban Chicago. The prices were very reasonable. The nursery itself was very well organized and unlike many places, everything seemed well maintained and watered. Don't you just hate it when you go to buy plants and see some languishing with neglect, wilted from lack of water or burned from being in direct sun? I do. And there was none of that nonsense here. I am enjoying a little bit of Amish planted in my gardens now. Seeing the plants make me smile, and help me remember a very enjoyable trip. I would give them 5 stars but to be honest, because they didn't have anything that I couldn't get in IL, I was a little disappointed in that. It should not deter the average gardener though. I live to garden in the Spring and have worked for 3 nurseries. I am lucky enough to live within a mile of this store! They have a great friendly staff and a huge selection of annuals and perennials. They also have beautiful pots in various styles and sizes that are reasonably priced. I have often given a potted plant from Ken's as a gift. I also buy bagged mulch here. We've been here once- a bit before Father's Day. It was crowded but there were plenty of staff on hand. They pointed us right to what we were looking for - for both items we wanted. Quality was excellent. Prices not the cheapest but far from the most expensive. Definitely our new go-to place. read more
