As a consequence I am writing a new review. This review is in regards to the Lake County Sheriff's phone, video, and charge it snack system for incarcerated individuals. I am not allowed to visit my friend, who I believe is unjustly accused of a crime, except through their Securus video system. I believe this is cruel and unusual, to never allow an inmate an in person visitor. The only way you can visit is through a video visit, at the jail, or from home. It costs $5 to do this chat. I was going to set up a video visit, but wanted one of his other friends to try it first. The staff there never told him a visit was arranged. I have no idea how often this oversight happens. Who wants to chat through a video in the first place, especially since you have to go through rigamarole to set it up? The phone calls inmates make are very expensive for whoever they call to accept the charges, and there are also difficulties with one of the two phones that he calls me from. I can barely hear him. I tried calling the people at Securus Technologies who are also in charge of the phone system at the jail, but there is no way to complain other than by an online live chat through the computer. They ended up telling me that the staff at the jail has to tell them to order a repair ticket, so if the staff there doesn't follow through, it will never get fixed. It has never been fixed in the several months he has been calling me, and it's a terrible strain to hear him. It's unfortunate too, since some people need to call out to talk with various organizations, lawyers, and family members to build up a legal defense, My friend also complains how he thinks the food is terribly bad, and because of his revulsion of the provided food, he asked me if I would buy him snacks through some online system of buying snacks for inmates. I would send him food, but that is not allowed. The phone, video, and online food system funded by friends and families of inmates make this jail seem very profit driven.

I had to get a copy of my birth certificate from the very official Register of Deeds. The process was pretty easy and it cost me a whole $20. Walk in, fill out form, get copy of proof that I exist, pay twenty bones, walk out. There's a metal detector, and you have to walk through it. I think that's customary in court-type-houses, generally. Also: Register of Deeds is a pretty ridiculous and official title. Not as official or ridiculous as Comptroller, though.

I had fun going to some shops with my little one, including a couple children's shops (BlackBear Boutique and Rainbow Booksellers, in particular). Rainbow Booksellers is only open a couple days per week so make sure to prioritize it if you are wanting to go. I'd planned to take my kiddo to the children's museum, but she fell asleep so that will wait for another trip. I think there are at least a couple children's museum-like places here. And in the downtown area there are several music venues; I've only been to Pabst many years ago, and I'd love to visit the High Life Theatre as well. And soon will attend a Brewers game to see the sausage race live and in person!
