WTF!! I said NO, I want to keep my appointment at 9 AM tomorrow and I'll just pay out-of-pocket. They said - NO - we can't do that it's "iILLEGAL" - literally ILLEGAL. WTF2?!??! I said - "why was I able to book an appointment in the first place? " They said "well it was a mistake at our calling center they shouldn't have done that". I said well then that's their fault I want to keep my appointment and you can take it up with your call center. The woman, Christine, was rigid, inflexible, and absolutely useless to try to solve this issue. Needless to say I am now looking for a new dentist - steer clear of Park Dental. Dr. Steele is wonderful though and if he ever changes practices I'll be the first to follow him. Too bad you just lost a long term patient who's now gonna tell absolutely everybody about this wretched experience.

I like his hygienists and assistants. They have a lot of experience and there is minimal turnover, if any. They use an ultrasonic power scaler, which I appreciate. They refer to Wayzata Endodontics for root canals. I had an equally a good experience at that practice (2 root canals).

As someone who prefers female dentists, I love that the staff is all women. :) The team - Dr. Phillips, Julie, RDH, Kara, RDA, and the front desk staff - are friendly and thorough. The main reason this rating is 4 rather than 5 stars is that I felt they recommended work I didn't really need, specifically a crown. Dr. Philips recommended a crown on my bottom right molar where I had a root canal in 11/2017. I'm 8 years out from the procedure and neither the endodontist who did the root canal nor the 3 general dentists I saw between 2018-25 said I needed one. Though she said it's common practice to place a crown after a root canal to avoid the tooth from breaking, I'm reluctant to undergo a procedure on a tooth that has caused zero issues for 8 years. At first I thought she found something other dentists missed but later realized that 4 other dentists (endodontist followed by 3 general dentists) would have said something sooner if I really needed a crown. Other than the root canal, there was no abnormal findings clinically or on the x-ray that convinced me to follow Dr. Phillips' recommendation that I get a crown. Now, if I had a cavity, I would get that filled right away to avoid further decay. But when none of my previous dentists over the past 8 years told me I need a crown and I'm not having pain in that tooth, why create work when none is needed? She also recommended fixing a small chip on one of my front teeth and Invisalign from my bottom teeth, though both were cosmetic so I declined. By comparison, my previous dentist of 5 years NEVER recommended any of the above work. To her credit, Dr. Phillips wasn't pushy about getting the work done. When I asked if it's likely I'd lose the tooth over the next few months if I don't get a crown, she couldn't say. I know it's not always possible to predict medical/dental outcomes but her not knowing told me that I didn't have to make a decision right away and I'd likely be fine without the crown. If the recommendation for a crown was made because I had pain and/or a fracture/other abnormal pathology was found, I'd be more on board getting it, especially if I had been going to the practice for years and didn't need dental work beyond cleanings until now. But as a first time patient to the practice, having a procedure recommended for a tooth that hasn't caused pain or other issues for 8 years makes me question whether I truly need the crown or it's financially motivated. I moved back to my home state in late March so I cancelled the cleaning previously scheduled for April. If I were to see them again (as I want to move back to MN in a few years) and they recommended any dental work beyond bi-annual cleanings, I'd get a second opinion before agreeing to anything. However, I'd more likely find another dental practice that is more conservative in their recommendations, similar to the dentist I previously saw prior to moving to MN.

I was also attracted by the fact that they offer later appointments (after 4 PM), which helps so that I do not have to burn up my PTO. From start to finish, I had a phenomenal experience. At first, I was having more issues with my insurance, but the benefits coordinator was patient and focused on addressing the issue. I started with X-ray scans and photos of my mouth with the problem managed. My time with Dr. Ibrahim was fabulous. She actively listened to my concerns, gave good advice for flossing, and provided good conversation even when working on my fillings and cleaning. Dr. Ibrahim identified two small cavities in my mouth and was willing to stay later to fill them (so I would not have to come back in for the filling procedure to be completed). I typically do not like just anyone working with my mouth (I have had dental issues throughout my entire life), but the staff was professional and courteous. I genuinely look forward to seeing them again in 6 months. I was excited that they could work with my night guard (readjusting), offer Invisalign, and create crowns in practice--finally, shout-out to the fact that they provide blankets for us cold folk in the office. Made the mistake of thinking of her as a close acquaintance. My husband and I just transitioned to Medicare two months ago. When I called the office to verify coverage I was told both of our Medicare plans are out of network. That's because she does not accept Medicare. Payment up front is required and the patient has to bill Medicare themselves for whatever compensation is available for being out of network. I contacted Dr Melissa to remind her that she told me years ago if we ever were on an insurance she was not in network with, that she would become in network. No anymore. Her words "It's a business decision". Unbelievable. It also has impacted our adult daughter who we referred there and she now finds herself out of network through her new employer plan. I'm so glad we could help her business grow to the point she now owns the building she is in. Lesson learned. This dentist is truly about the money.

One thing I really appreciate about the people I have worked with here (and from chatting with other patients) is that they aren't preachy or judgey about your teeth.
