They promise a "no-shame atmosphere" and compassionate care, which gave me hope. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite--confusing, painful, and emotionally distressing. From the beginning, I was repeatedly mistaken for another patient from one of their other offices. Because of this confusion, I was questioned and shamed about why I hadn't fixed my teeth sooner. When I explained I'm a single mom and couldn't afford the $8,000 estimate I'd previously received within the past year, I was told that was impossible and I must be wrong. But later, the updated treatment plan I received from this same office was over $12,000. The judgment and disbelief were humiliating. I opted for a more affordable plan--extractions and bridges--but even that process was mishandled. They took impressions for temporary teeth before removing my actual teeth, which meant they didn't fit. Still, the dentist tried to force them into place, causing a lot of unnecessary pain. To make things worse, staff openly gossiped about their co-workers in front of me and acted unprofessionally throughout my visits. Worst of all, at a follow-up appointment, a dentist pulled a piece of my jawbone out through my gums without any anesthetic. It was one of the most excruciating things I've experienced, and totally unacceptable. There was one dentist there who treated me with respect and compassion. In my opinion she went above and beyond. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff made me feel invisible, mistaken, and lesser-than--despite the clinic's promises to the contrary. If you suffer from dental anxiety and are seeking judgment-free, empathetic care, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience at Shamblott Family Dentistry was not just disappointing--it was traumatic.

Disappointing Experience - Lack of Transparency and Accountability in Poor Handling of Young…read moreChild's Dental Visit I brought my 3.5-year-old in for a very specific concern: visible decay on his two top front teeth. When I booked the appointment, I clearly explained why we were coming in. It was even noted in their records. Yet after the exam, the doctor (who is also the owner) told me they don't treat decay on those specific teeth in children this young. This was incredibly frustrating. If that's their policy, I should have been informed before the appointment--not after I'd arranged childcare for my other children, brought my son in, and paid for a visit that was ultimately unhelpful. Had I known, I would've gone straight to a pediatric dentist and saved time, money, and stress. Now I will have to pay again for an exam as dentist offices don't transfer exams. What was even more confusing, is that I had to get a pediatric referral for my 1.5 year old for an injury at the same time I made the appointment for my 3.5 year old meaning we were already discussing pediatric dentistry and what they do and do not treat. When I spoke with the office manager, I received a series of shifting, contradictory explanations: * First, she claimed they maybe they didn't know why we were coming in (despite the notes that were checked after). The notes themselves were not thorough or true to my clear concerns. * Then she suggested it might have been due to my child's temperament--though he was calm, cooperative, and sat still the entire time (I even have videos because I was so proud of him). * Finally, after consulting the Dr who is also the owner, she said he simply doesn't treat decay in those teeth in 3.5-year-olds--which raises the question of why they accepted the appointment in the first place. While they did offer a vague apology "for any potential miscommunication" and referred us elsewhere, it felt like a deflection of responsibility rather than a genuine effort to acknowledge or resolve the issue. There was no accountability, no meaningful apology, and no attempt to make things right beyond the bare minimum. This experience was deeply disappointing. We were hoping to find a trusted holistic dental office for our entire family--but this showed a lack of transparency, integrity, and patient care. I would not recommend this practice, especially for families with young children. Ask very specific questions upfront--because they won't volunteer the information you need. We won't be back.

I go to the Minnetonka office, but there is also a Maple Grove office if that is more convenient. The dental hygienists I've had clean my teeth have all been skilled and are really good at accommodating the patients to be sure the experience is as comfortable as possible. One thing I really appreciate about the people I have worked with here (and from chatting with other patients) is that they aren't preachy or judgey about your teeth. I feel your thoughts, you haven't been in to a dental office in years and you're intimidated or maybe even embarrassed. Don't worry! Even if you haven't been to the dentist in years, go in and they'll get you started on caring for your teeth without all the lectures and shaming. Give them a try, I think you'll like them.
