I've been attending Dr. Ellen Kelly since January but waited on my review because I didn't want to…read morejinx things. Now though the full outcome of the subsequent work Dr. Kelly did for me (today Nov. 20) remains to be seen I feel compelled to share my experience at this practice and with this super smart and wonderful practitioner. First of all, because the root canal I needed done by Dr. Kelly was on roots that go in weird directions she had her work cut out for her. Yet, wow did Dr. Kelly patiently embrace the challenges of that, gently trying to reach all angles of my roots. More importantly all the while she communicated clearly and honestly, including not promising her work would succeed. As valuable to me too was that several times in the past year when I needed reassurance about the progress or not of the healing she willingly had me come in to check things out. Then when she felt things weren't healing satisfactorily she wanted to do today's procedure (an apicoectomy) to try and reach the root end that couldn't be reached the regular root canal route. Now having had two procedures with Dr. Kelly and witnessed her consummate skill with these gnarly procedures, that she manages with a lively, caring, and sometimes wonderfully humorous demeanor, I feel she deserves this review even if this work fails too. And of course if it succeeds it will only be thanks to this gifted practitioner. Thank you SO much Dr. Kelly for making this journey much less stressful. Thank you Schuyler, for your warmth and what you do by Dr. Kelly's side. Yor are an invaluable presence during these procedures. Also, thank you Cindy, and Kelsey (forgive me if my spelling is incorrect) for how responsive you are on the phone and when I arrive for my appointments. Your presences are much needed too. PS I will return in a few months to report hopefully on the full recovery of my apicoectomy.

This is the second time I have seen Dr Kelly. The first several years ago for multiple implants. The office is exceptionally clean and personnel delightful. When I needed a graft done recently, I had no reservations about going back when my dentist said what I needed to have done. I would recommend highly. Hope I dont have to go back but if I do, will feel quite at ease with whatever Dr Kelly needed to do.

I moved to Charlottesville recently and was recommended this dentist by a friend when I told her I…read moreneeded a dentist in the area. I was surprised at how far in advance I needed to schedule an exam to see Dr. Al. The front desk had to schedule me for two different dates for the initial exam and x-rays and then the cleaning. However, my excellent hygienist, Rachel, very graciously fit me in for a cleaning on my first visit when I explained that having to find a sitter for my three toddlers is a challenge. She was the most through hygienist I've worked with, explaining each procedure she was doing, pulling up my x-rays and going through the images with me, and also explaining why I get tartar build up in certain areas of my mouth. I was very impressed with her and appreciative of her doing my cleaning (and I'm assuming going into her lunch break to accommodate me.) Dr. Al was friendly and efficient when he came in for the exam as well. We don't have dental insurance and I ended up signing up for their in house dental insurance plan which seemed reasonable and competitive. It also doesn't lock you into any sort of long term contract or payment plan so I don't need to worry should we end up moving or having dental coverage in the future. Very happy with this office and would recommend to others!

This dentist quoted me for 10 fillings which seemed high so I went and got a second opinion. Second opinion told me I only needed 3 fillings and to watch 3 other spots. The front office and hygienists were very kind but the Doctor was very obviously trying to take advantage of my desire to get my dental health in order to make a bigger check.

The location of the office is very peaceful and low key. However, inside is the top of the line technology in today's dental world. The front desk staff member makes sure you fully understand what your insurance will cover before beginning any additional procedure. The office is very high tech with the equipment it's utilizes.
