I love Dr. Saul. Like other reviewers, he really does care. My kiddo went to the hospital, and Dr. Saul came to visit us to see if everything was OK like??? What??? One time, I had a concern about something but didn't necessarily need an appointment for it, and he called me later that day to talk about it. I don't feel awkward asking him questions. Now, sometimes he does work fast, BUT if you have any questions, he is happy to answer them. Now, a lot of the time, there is a wait. One time, I had a 10:30am appt and didn't leave till 12:30pm. Other times have been fast, though. I feel like the front staff are generally nice. All in all I'd say Dr. Saul is worth it. read more

We have been with Dr. Saul for many years. He is a terrific doctor but the run ins with his staff were just too much at some point. Another issue was the wait time. We would go there and usually have to wait 45min-1h to be seen by the doctor. That was completely normal even with an appointment. The decision to leave Dr Saul and take our 5 kids to Los Robles Pediatrics came after they wanted to charge us $75 missing appointment fee for bringing only one child to an appointment instead of two because one was sick. I told the staff to reconsider since I did appear but one child was sick but they didn't want to do that. After waiting so many hours and being patient they had a 0 tolerance policy. We have been with the new pediatrician for over a year now and we love it. It's not as personal as Dr Saul for sure but it's fast and easy and everyone so so friendly. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Saul for over 7 years now. We switched pediatrician because I did not feel that my concerns as a parent were being taken seriously. Often as parents we are more in tune with our child and when something is off, it's off. Dr. Saul has never dismissed any of my concerns. He has paid attention to them and has sought ways to not only address them but to make both my child and us as parents feel better. He makes time for all of his patients, even though I don't know how he can get it all in, in one work day. Dr. Saul is a great pediatrician who cares about his patients. Even though I have waited to be seen longer than I would like, he always takes his time and answers all of our questions when it is our turn. He also has come in to the office on his day off when my kids were sick and I couldn't wait until Monday and at times, has called me to follow up after hours. The staff has been friendly and professional and has gone out of their way to get my kids in as quickly as possible, even though I may have to wait awhile to be seen. Also my go-to doctor for specialist referrals, Dr. Saul is one very special doctor that I would recommend to anyone looking for a pediatrician who is knowledgeable, caring and works with you in the best interest of your child. read more

Dr. Saul is amazing. We were referred to 5 pediatricians and he was the only pediatrician that allowed us to interview him before moving forward. He claims that he is trying to be the best doctor out there and he is. He cares for kids. He has drop in appointments before the office hours because sometimes you can't wait for an appointment. A handful of times, our kids were at Los Robles and the NEXT day, Dr. Saul called us to see how things were. Who does that? Dr. Saul does. He is thorough and very knowledgeable. We delivered at Rolling Hills and Dr. Saul was recommend to us by a few nurses. We already had another doctor lined up, but switched after our first interaction with Dr. Saul while he was visiting newborns. During that visit, he changed our sons diaper without hesitation. Don't know many doctors that would just do that. I knew at that moment that he was in his profession for the right reasons. He genuinely cares for his patients and will allow you to make decisions for your own family. A few times he has asked me why I chose to do things a specific way, but never in a disrespectful way, its just to hear my opinion. I like that he cares enough to hear me out, without trying to change my views. The receptionists are all great. Professional, friendly, and clear. I wouldn't want to deal with all the parents that think their problems are more important than everyone else's. Punctual appointments, great Doctor, friendly staff, walk-ins early in the mornings, prompt emergency call back if you page the doctor after hours, and open some weekends and holidays to avoid the ER. Dr. Saul is an amazing pediatrician! His work ethic and attention to detail with his patients is second to none. I'm a firefighter/paramedic and have seen a high volume of Doctors with countless patients, and can say with all honesty that no MD that I have ever met, even comes close to his level of care for his patients. We really like Dr.Saul but unfortunately we switched to a different Pediatrician due to his phone nurse's bad recommendation, his office nurse's snippy demeanor, and a bad experience with his after-hour doctor. First of all I have to say that Iam really sad that I have to write this because Dr. Saul is a great Doctor that I really liked. But I never experienced such rude treatment by a doctors office before. I received bills send out by Tina A lady in his billing office I tried to reach her about those Billings and I never reached her I tried it multiple times over months. I wanted to talk to her about does Billings because I was charged for something my insurance told me I shouldn't been have charged for but I never reached her when I finally reached her she was really rude on the phone my husband had to take over and she would not listen to him she would interrupt him constantly he could not even finish one sentence then she even hung up on him!!! I myself worked in a doctors office for over eight years on patients and in the billig office if I would've treated a customer like this I would have got fired immediately. I'm really sad that I have to find a new doctor now because I was really happy with Dr. Saul and his team but I cannot stay with practice that employs a person that treats customers like this. I was honestly surprised to see that there weren't any reviews for Dr. Saul yet. I feel that he and Dr. Kawasaki (also in his office) are the 2 best pediatricians in Thousand Oaks. We interviewed a few pediatricians in 2010 before our son was born that April and we were most impressed by Dr. Saul. He was willing to stay after hours (6pm) so that we could meet him after we got off work. Dr. Saul is someone that truly cares about his patients. He is the only doctor I know that gives out his cell phone number to patients (parents) and is actually good about answering or calling back when you call. I even texted him a picture of my son's rash one time and he gave me his opinion. I will say that sometimes it feels a little rushed during exams but I believe it is because 1)He is very busy and very popular and/or 2)He has ADD and doesn't have an very long attention span. We never felt that he was rushing us out of there though and he was always willing to answer any questions. More recently we started seeing Dr. Kawasaki who practices in his office a few days a week. We like her also and she has a lot more of a holistic approach and is very calm and patient. She tends to be a little easier to get an appointment with which is why we have seen her more often. Both are great though!! First thing on weekday mornings they often have walk-in available for sick kids. There are also Saturday hours by appt only for non routine appointments. The office has lots of toys and always has a Disney movie on for kids to watch. read more

The receptionist has to be one of the rudest and most unprofessional person I've encountered. The voice of a customer resonates loudly. Is the same story everytime you had an appointment weeks in advance. You made the time for it and even get in earlier. What happened is they ler some other person in that arrive after. Yes arrived late. So what was rhe point of making an appointment in advace. I know everyone health is important but also everyone's time shpuld be important. Probably is not Dr. SAUL fault but C'Mon is his office and hence should take some responsibility. read more

I will preface this review by stating that upfront I liked Dr Saul personally. We met him at the hospital when our son was born. He was very friendly, informative and encouraged us to join his practice. He also mentioned he had a specialized routine for vaccines which he found beneficial. When we got home from the hospital I contacted his office to arrange our sons first appointment and also inquire about his written program for vaccines. I was told bluntly that he was not taking new patients, and he had nothing in writing regarding his vaccine treatment. I explained we had just met, our son was literally born the week before and was told by Dr Saul personally to contact his office. I received an e-mail a few days later from his office staff that he could not put anything in writing regarding vaccines, and we had missed the deadline for joining his office, our son was too old already. Seriously. I suppose we dodged a bullet. First, the vaccine plan needs to be in writing. Second my son is too old, he was a week old? In the end, who knows what his staff manager was thinking, but I don't like dealing with people like that, especially when it comes to my sons health. My journey was not over with these winners. The office manager, and her billing staff minions, are unethical, nasty, and unpleasant bullies. They threatened my family with legal and credit consequences over an alleged $100 balance owed for services rendered. My insurer has no record of this claim, nor was I ever sent an explanation of benefits by my insurer. Dr Saul has a contract with Anthem, and he agrees to accept the amounts paid out by them. We had four simple visits, and our co-pay is $5 per visit. The bill they sent out was fraudulent, billing for services not rendered, and amounts not owed nor agreed upon by my insurer. His staff has been indifferent at best, vindictive at their worst. In the end I blame Dr Saul for allowing his staff to treat patients this way. In the end one must weight everything when choosing a Doctor. His staff, and unethical billing must outweigh the charm and competence of the Doctor in this case. In the end after my insurer intervened, and I threatened legal action the balance allegedly due was dropped and I suppose the office staff moved on to their next victim. Dr. Saul is the most magnificent pediatrician ever. He will take the time to have intelligent conversations with the parents, which is very important to me. We never once felt our concerns were dismissed or he was annoyed with our quetions. We use alternative medicine for health maintenance and selectively vaccinate and he also took the time to have discussions with us about our choices. I never felt talked down to, nor does he have passive aggressive signs up in his rooms about how poor of a parent you will be if you don't do XYZ vaccinations. On top of that, his dedication to the wellness of his patients is admirable. We have been into his office on holidays and weekends. He once said to me that whenever possible, he didn't want his patients to have to go to the ER. That meant a lot to me! An ER is not the place for a sick child, and he understood that rather than think about his own 'schedule.' He is so dedicate. Many a time I received calls back from him late into the evening regarding non-urgent questions I had left. And the one time I left an urgent question to the answering service during their lunch break I receved a call back within 2 minutes from him personally. After nearly 9 years at his practice I can say without hesitation our children were in excellent hands. We have just had to leave the practice due to a move, and it's truly heartbreaking. When we had our daughter 8 weeks early at Los Robles my husband and I met with Dr. Saul on a Saturday morning in his office. He was knowledgable, easy to talk to and I felt 100% confident in his ability to care for my preemie baby. Even though there are Dr's at the hospital Dr. Saul would visit his future patients at the NICU in the early mornings prior to the start of his office hours. He knew all about her when we left the hospital and started seeing him. He was always available if we needed something! There were times we had to wait but he would see us. Dr. Saul is so comfortable to talk to and he really tells you like it is. If you need to see a specialist he has wonderful recommendations and always follows up with you. There's been a couple occasions over the years where he's called me in the evenings to go over some test results for one of the kids. He's never in a rush and will make sure you understand everything before he goes. My daughter Fiona is about to have her 11 year checkup in a few weeks. She's perfectly healthy and I'm grateful to Dr. Saul. Wonderful office! read more
