If you're someone who has dental anxiety, or you've put off going to the dentist for years because…read moreyou're scared, embarrassed, or worried about being judged, this review is for you. I had excellent dental care growing up until I was about 14, but I also had a traumatic experience as a child when I flipped over my bike, knocked several teeth out, and had to be strapped into a chair while a dentist worked on them. That experience stayed with me. After my parents divorced, going to the dentist stopped being a priority, and despite brushing my teeth every day, I avoided dental visits for years. Eventually, I started having tooth pain and assumed I had one bad tooth. It turned out I needed two root canals and multiple fillings. To say I was terrified would be an understatement. One of the biggest fears about returning to the dentist after a long time is the feeling that you'll be judged. Dr. French completely erased that fear. She has been nothing but kind, compassionate, and genuinely caring from day one. She's the type of person who instantly makes you feel comfortable, and honestly, she's just an incredibly cool person. The hygienists and the rest of the staff are just as wonderful. Every single person in the office is warm, welcoming, and makes you feel like they genuinely care about you. The office itself is beautiful and has such a calming atmosphere. Then there's the fear of pain. I can honestly say I experienced virtually none. Dr. French referred me to Dr. Baines at San Jose Endodontics for my root canals, and I couldn't have asked for a better referral. Both root canals were completely painless. They prescribed ibuprofen afterward, and I never even needed it. Back at Willow Glen Dental, I was also genuinely impressed by how much they've invested in technology. It's not just a beautiful office--it feels like they've made a real commitment to giving patients the best experience possible. After my root canals, they digitally scanned my teeth, designed my crowns, and milled them right there in the office. I took about an hour to an hour-and-a-half break, came back, and had both permanent crowns placed that same day. No temporary crowns. No waiting weeks. As someone who hadn't been to the dentist in years, I had no idea dentistry had come this far, and it made the entire process incredibly convenient. The same was true for my fillings and every other procedure I've had. Throughout every appointment, the team made sure I was comfortable, answered every question, and never rushed me. Yesterday I finished the restorative portion of my treatment plan after about a year and a half of care. Dr. French joked, "Last round!" and then laughed that I was probably tired of seeing them. I surprised myself with my response: "Honestly... I used to have really bad dental anxiety, and now I don't." And I truly meant it. That's one of the greatest gifts this office has given me. They didn't just fix my teeth--they completely changed how I feel about going to the dentist. I never thought I'd be someone who could walk into a dental appointment feeling relaxed, but that's exactly how I feel now. I've already recommended Willow Glen Dental and Dr. French to several friends, and I'll continue recommending them to anyone who asks. (Just don't book Dr. French too solid--I still need my appointments! ) As long as I live in the Bay Area, this is where I'll be coming for my dental care. Dr. French is nothing short of amazing. I don't know what kind of magic she works, but she's incredible. Thank you, Dr. French, Dr. Baines, and the entire Willow Glen Dental team for giving me back not only my smile, but my confidence and peace of mind. 10/10. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

***UPDATE: Cheer Dental contacted me the next day. Although I missed their call, they left a…read morevoicemail and confirmed that the call was from their back office, not a scam. I appreciate that they investigated. Unfortunately, when I initially called to verify the situation, I was clearly and definitively told that the call was not from them and that my appointment was not on their calendar. Based on that, I spent much of the day worried that my information had been compromised and contacting my insurance. I had a decent experience here previously and had even recommended the office to someone else. I hope they improve communication between their front and back office to prevent this kind of confusion in the future.*** I booked an appointment online with Cheer Dental. The next day, I received a text claiming to be from Cheer Dental that advertised a promotion and included the website, office phone number, and office address, making it appear legitimate. Since I had already scheduled online, I called the office directly. The office confirmed my appointment and instructed me to text a photo of my insurance card before my visit. Because I already had what appeared to be an active text conversation with Cheer Dental, I sent my insurance card through that thread. The following morning, before the office had opened, I received a call from someone claiming to be associated with Cheer Dental. They asked to confirm my appointment details and asked for my date of birth. Later that day, I called the office directly and was told the call had not come from them and the appointment was not on their calendar. Because the suspicious communication began immediately after I submitted my information through Cheer Dental's website, I am concerned that my contact information may have been exposed or misused. I cannot confirm how the caller obtained it, but I believe the office should investigate whether its website, booking vendors, or communication systems were compromised. I am not accusing the office or its staff of being responsible for the impersonation. My concern is how the situation was handled after I informed them. The response focused on explaining that the call was not from their office, but I did not get the impression that there was much interest in investigating how someone was able to impersonate the practice and obtain patient information. I also think the office should reconsider requesting insurance cards through standard text messaging. When patients are already communicating through a text thread that appears to be from the office, it becomes much easier for scammers to convince patients that additional requests for personal information are legitimate. I hope the office investigates what happened, reviews its communication practices, and takes steps to reduce the risk of this happening to other patients.

Being relatively new to San Jose, I found Cheer Dental through reviews and their proximity to my house. I was really impressed with Kate who helped with scheduling, helpful reminders and most importantly, was very helpful in ensuring we used our insurance effectively (primary + supplemental). Now on to the visit - Dr. Priya is very friendly and I was immediately aware that I was in good hands. She was extremely thorough and also transparent with what was going on inside my mouth. She was able to answer all of my questions and made the experience as pleasant as it could be. Overall, I am extremely impressed with this entire office and I feel lucky to have found a dentist I can trust that is also clearly an expert in their field.

Not only did they get me an emergency appointment that exact morning, but Dr. Wu took the time to truly look at the big picture. She carefully considered the physical demands of my upcoming neck surgery, my anesthesia intubation risks, and my long-term recovery timeline. Because I was already taking pre-op antibiotics, she knew my bloodstream was protected, but she also realized that it might be a very long time before my neck recovers enough to sit back in a dental chair for a permanent fix. That long-term timeline was something I hadn't even thought about in the middle of this crisis. Knowing how tight finances can be right before a major medical procedure, they were incredibly compassionate and worked with us to spread the cost out over several payments. I was in and out in under two hours, and my tooth was completely repaired, smooth, and stabilized for tomorrow's operating room. I am profoundly grateful for Dr. Wu and her entire staff for their brilliant care, quick action, and deep empathy when I needed it most.

I want to specifically call out their B.S. related to their business and billing practices. I woke up to receive a notice that I had to pay $646.20 for treatments I received almost 4 years, what the heck guys? Specific statements like "Nonetheless, these are services that were provided to you, so we are unable to waive this balance." and "While we should have handled things more promptly, I hope you can understand that we have a fiscal responsibility as a practice, even when past follow-up has fallen short." This directly translates YOU (Cerulean Dental Spa owners) taking the hit. Additionally the payment was reduced slightly, because I called my insurance provider to walk me through all three services on my statement from Cerulean and they had specified that one of these should have been covered and they make a statement like this "With this, after discussing the situation with Aetna and reviewing the billing details, we have decided to waive $134 from your balance." But this is AFTER I decided to complain to insurance about this understand. Overall, it was a complete lack of communication but in order to penny pinch people, they are still chasing people down for things 4+ years later. Which is to me such a tell-tale sign of their practice and business health.
