When we came open day there was a young lady she was so sweet and helpful a week later there was an older lady when asked about breakfast burritos witch they have advertised her answer was I'm not cooking how hard would it to make six or so put in the cooler they have a microwave but she was rude and after buying no recipe I went back into the store just to ask a question I yelled and no one came out from the back her and a man were having a conversation loudly guessing that's why they didn't here me so I left by the way bring everything you need two spam slices and a 0.1 oz of Pamama cost me $10 and when I asked for small bills from my hundred because the campsite was $17 a night she gave me all 20s a ten and two fives I'm like it's $17 a night she said you would think they would make it a even number wouldn't you and then she walked away so rude not worth going to the store beer oh my God five dollars a beer unless you want something like Modelo, then you were like at eight dollars a beer everything in the store was triple the price then any other store I've ever been and the coffee not good and 1$ for a 6oz cup or 2$ for a 8 oz cup and it was not a good cup we did buy lunch one day two burgers one Fri and one onion ring 43$ it was good but I could have gone to a restaurant for that we ended up in kernvillle one day Mexican restaurant so good and very polite waitress she was so sweet any way we saw coyotes and a few quails nothing else hope someone out there got something read more

Really cool spot to drop by if you're in the area. Rustic looking. It's a good stop for backpackers on the PCT. It has backpacking supplies for you to re-up whatever you need. There's also a shower and a restaurant so you can re-energize yourself after a long hike. There's also fun souvenirs and gas for the explorers on four wheels. read more

This Place is Fantastic . It is especially special for you if you are hiking the Pct . The food is great and fairly priced . the People are very friendly . camping is free for Hikers and there is plenty of fun Cats and dogs that hangout and run the place on a daily basis . plenty of Beautiful trees . Beer . snacks . water . various drinks . the white Kitty is super friendly and snuggly . Make sure to say hellos . They are life saver personally for me cuz they had a long sleeve dry quick material shirt which I vitally needed for colder times going north . Well, any camper needing a shower, it is the bomb. You get soap and towels, and lots of hot water. To top it off, we were there for what they call Thanksgiving night. For an believably, reasonable price, we had fresh roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, AMAZING stuffing and green beans. It was served hot and I was only able half so I'm looking forward to my left overs. To say that the setting and the ambience could be better would be tough. I f you're anywhere up in the Sierra Nevada put this on your list! PS Did I forget to mention the bar. Be sure to stop in and meet the locals. The cowboys and cowgirls are the real deal and so fun. read more

This place is great!! So welcoming to the PCT hikers. They ring a cow bell when PCT hikers arrive. We ate their endless pancake breakfast. It was delicious and only $12.00. It is a wonderful place located in the mountains. They have outside games (corn hole and horseshoes). I loved listening to the PCT hikers talk about their adventures. Amazing group of people. Best place ever!!! Restaurant here is killer, one of the best Zeros on the PCT so far. Amazing atmosphere and amazing stay. Couldn't suggest it more for PCT hikers. But if you're in the area everyone should try the food!!! read more

We stopped by earlier today after going over Sherman Pass from Kernville, a drive that takes about two hours from Hwy 99 (Kern River). Lots of things to stock up on, great Western vibe, showers, very comfortable deck and places to hang out. There's even a gas station. If I were hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and needed to wash up or refuel, this would seem like paradise, a comfortable place situated in a nice meadow in a town with a population of 200. We love coming here as we own a lil off grid cabin in walking distance. They've got new owners now and the food, spiked root beer floats, and neighborhood meet up is really nice after a long day working out on our cabin. It's a rustic lil place but we love the old signs and big patio to catch up with our neighbors and local PCT backpackers. The salmon burgers are great! You can grab a shower there too if you're a backpacker. Fantastic place for running completely off grid. It's dog friendly on the patio too if you have a well behaved pup. read more

The Kennedy Meadows General Store is pretty much the only establishment where you can buy provisions in the community of Kennedy Meadow and its vast hinterland. The staff member is friendly. The place closes early. It has a seasonal hamburger stand outside. You can sit out on the deck under the shade of a tree and enjoy all the beauty of the Southern Sierras. It's an extremely modest, very threadbare - but charming - old fashioned store. It's like something out of an old Western movie! Please note that the Kennedy Meadow campground is no longer operated by the US. Forest Service (USDA). This is due to a federal bureaucratic and budget problem - not due to any other factor. Due to the anger, ire and consternation of the residents of the surrounding community, the owner of Kennedy Meadows General Store has cobbled together a makeshift operation of the campground, via his own pocketbook, to keep the campground open for campers. There is no overnight fee - just donations accepted! Here is the limitation - there is no running water. So bring your own water or buy from the store (they need the business!) If this is too difficult for you, drive further up the road to Troy Meadow or Fish Creek campground. Someone should complain to Senator Feinstein or Senator Boxer abount the US Forest Service (or is it BLM?) internal problem that closed this fine campground. read more

General store is a life saver and is the ONLY place to buy gas, food, misc merchandise, get deliveries make phone calls etc..etc......been coming to this store since I was a little girl 3 years old, the old wood burning stove still stands in the same place, a lot of improvements have been done, now you can go enjoy a fresh burger or on the deck..we APPRECIATE the owner for being there for everyone... read more

The campground is really no different now than it ever was except no water and no toilet paper , the outhouses are filthy. Nice people at the store but what they supposedly do to manage the campground is a mystery to me. I'm up there at least 3 times a year. read more
