Heck, she listened and cared more than my students who are REQUIRED to to pass (ha!). She was thorough, listened to all concerned addressed them properly and provided all necessary important information including referrals and follow-ups. She was also incredibly smart and knowledgeable about a lot of topics, and you can tell because she doesn't throw a ton of big words at you to seem smart, it was demonstrated in her ability to describe things at a level that people without medical experience could understand. HIGHLY recommend. The medical assistant, Keniesha, who came in to draw blood and run an EKG was polite, knowledgeable and professional while making me feel at ease during understandably uncomfortable tests. Office staff is friendly, polite, helpful, and great at getting you all set up and going. Allyson called me by phone, as I waited in my warm car, when it was time for my appointment. You are required to wash your hands before coming into the waiting area; and, of course wear a mask which must cover your mouth AND your nose. Conrad was the associate who administered my Covid-19 test. Conrad explained the procedure (he also took my temperature and pulse oximetry measurements) and performed my nasal Covid-19 test. Conrad was professional, reassuring and kind as was Allyson. The pandemic has been horrible but these two associates made this process easy and stress free. I thank them for their hard work and dedication for risking their lives to assist the public.

After having visited a different urgent care type setting a week earlier, I wasn't particularly…read morethrilled when my primary care physician wasn't available for a timely appointment and instead referred me to this setting, Franciscan Express Care. However, given my growing concern over some dehydration issues and an ongoing issue with my leg, I opted to go ahead and give Franciscan Express Care a chance. Located in the CityWay area of near downtown Indy, Franciscan Express Care is located across the street from my primary care physician but is situated somewhat better in that it has free parking and a pretty easily accessible building. The parking lot is smaller than expected, though it's fairly workable and does have accessible parking spots (though there's a slight grade to them). This same building offers urgent care, wellness programs, sports physicals, drug testing, occupational health, lab, and x-ray services. It's open from 7 am-11 pm daily, a definite plus in the world of urgent care. Because I am an active primary care patient of Franciscan, my registration process was fairly simple. I registered within a few minutes - the staff was friendly, though they were on the phone with a supervisor upon my arrival. They did apologize when they got off the phone. There was an electronic board that essentially told you where you were at in terms of waiting (without violating HIPAA). That was helpful and decreased the "I'm waiting" anxiety. Truthfully, the wait was rather short and I was taken back to do the usual pre-check followed by a visit with the physician's assistant. I believe here name was Sarah Thill, though I may be wrong. Regardless, she was incredibly compassionate, a great listener, asked good questions and expressed concerns that perhaps I should consider going to the ER. She opted to offer me an antibiotic with the recommendation that if I wasn't showing signs of improvement soon that I should go ahead and go to the ER for further evaluation. I was incredibly happy with her presence and the thoroughness of her evaluation that definitely went beyond the usual urgent care exam. I was easily in and out within an hour and my prescription was ready for me by the time I arrived at my pharmacy closer to my home. As things would pan out, a few days later I did end up being seen in the ER and admitted to the hospital for several days. So, essentially, the urgent care here really did their job and made a solid recommendation that ended up being 100% correct. I found the setting to be comfortable and the exam rooms to be more wheelchair-friendly than most urgent care settings I've been to in the past. While one never quite knows what to expect from urgent care given the different clinicians one may experience, my visit here was definitely positive and I would easily return should the need arise in the future. While I still prefer my primary care physician, this is a great alternative. As a matter of note, while I wasn't required to pay upfront because of my insurance my final bill ended up being just over $90 - a good 10-15% lower than most IU Health urgent care settings.

Thankfully it was just a Covid scare, but they handled everything great and got me in same day. They scheduled an appointment for me so they could coordinate my care without risking me exposing others. To protect staff and others they tell you to wait in your car until they are ready to bring you to a room, and then they call you and you can come in. The nurse was great, testing was fast... I know the nasal swab stinks but it went really fast and wasn't as bad as some of the other swabs I've gotten. Results were ready in less than 15 minutes and then I met with a PA to go over those (and receive treatment if I had needed it) and then I was on my way and good to go! Without the tests even coming back positive for anything , I was prescribed doxycycline as an antibiotic treatment. About half way through the treatment I was feeling really bad abdominal pain. I called my pcp at this office and she told me "Oh that's completely normal with doxycycline, just finish the course ". I finished the course. And after , My pain symptoms got so bad I ended up in the emergency room several times since. I was diagnosed with doxycycline induced gastritis . (Inflammation of the stomach lining ) . The medication I was prescribed here literally damaged my stomach lining. And my life has been hell ever since. Instead of trying to treat it. The doctor who prescribed it referred me to a GI practice , who didn't have anyone available but a Nurse practitioner. And I ended up paying hundreds of dollars in copays there just to make the issue even worse. This happened back in January and it's April now and I'm still in pain . I can't eat anything besides chicken toast or bread. And this has made my life a living hell. I went in for a visit and got blood work done. And when the results came back I was told " See you In May " . This place is corrupt and they will literally prescribe you medications without a active diagnosis or a confirmation of one. And they will say "Well that's the standard of care. " The doctors here are pharmaceutical sales people. Not doctors who care about you. I'm still going through the gastritis. This is the most miserable thing I have ever been through and could of all been prevented if the doctor would of waited for test results to come back instead of throwing a prescription at me. I'm down almost 100lbs now. I can't eat anything. And I'm in constant pain. They ruined my life !

This location also has a uniquely high contractual rate with insurance companies. It is significantly more expensive than a normal urgent care clinic. After speaking with SMC and my insurance, their contracted rate is 4-5 times higher than a normal urgent care and the rate cannot be negotiated down. Do not go to this location unless you are swimming in cash. Edit: The company wanted to throw a bunch of jargon about how their prices are competitive so I feel the need to help potential customers. On your bill there will be only one line item charged. It's a 45 minute office visit charged at an exorbitant rate for a simple urgent care strep test visit. It's listed as a contracted rate which I confirmed with SMC's billing department and my own insurance company. The rate may be different for each insurance carrier but for my carrier, anthem, which is obviously very common, it was over $200. Having been to urgent care a dozen or so times in the last decade, the final bill for these services was 4-5 times higher than every other in-network urgent care I have been to in that time frame. Save yourself hundreds of dollars and shoddy healthcare and pick any number of name brand competitors in the area.
