If I could give this a negative rating I would. I loved (past tense) this hospital. up until Dr. Edward Chow started working the E.R. I can not move my right arm due to severe shoulder pain. Mr.Chow (he is no fucking doctor and is a fucking disgrace to the entire medical field) never spoke to me. orders JUST an x-ray. says there is no broken bones and "there is nothing else we can do. so no pain meds for you, go home!" Treating me like a pain pill seeker. I have BEVER taken a script for opiates or anything besides ibuprofen from this hospital EVER. in 15 years coming here. This Scumbag also miss diagnosed my 6 year old son, until I raised a ruckus and made them transfer us to Cooper in camden. DO NOT come to this hospital. I'm not as familiar with Kennedy Hospital, but my mom is a patient there currently. It seems like some remodeling is going on...the main entrance is very nice and the staff more than happy to help. My mom's room is a bit small, you can see it's an older part of the hospital but the nursing staff is wonderful. Nurse Ann Marie Sat and talked with me about my mother's condition and answered all my questions. The food is okay. I feel good knowing she is at Kennedy, getting quality care. read more

I have been going to Kennedy (as an outpatient) for many years. I've used the lab, infusion and the ER, and have been pleased, overall. A few years back, my father in law got admitted a few times, and I was NOT a fan of their floors. I don't know if they have improved in that area. As it was a few years back, I would not recommend. But yes, definitely for outpatient services. Today, however, I ran into an infuriating problem. My doc called in a prescription for the lab. I couldn't get there early, for a variety of reasons, so I arrived with 20 minutes to spare before that area closed. They have opened the new addition, so it was a bit confusing. I was directed to patient admission, where there was no one. The security guard was nice enough to go and find someone for me. The woman he found, could not find my faxed Rx. She suggested I call my doctor's office, which was now closed. She said, " Did they fax it to the right number? We've been open 2 weeks" I said, "They faxed it to the same number they've been using for years" She says, "Oh, the number changed" I said, "How would they know that?" She shrugs, "They would have to call" So, new wing opens up and the numbers I've been using for, oh, 6 years and counting, have arbitrarily changed! Terrific. I have Kennedy Patient Portal. There was no announcement. My doctor is on staff at Kennedy. She and her staff apparently didn't get the memo. She writes down the new number, which I take and huff off. Can't read whether one digit is a 3 or a 5. Called to verify, and no one answers the phone. Website doesn't give fax numbers. Oh, and the number I have had for years IS STILL A FAX NUMBER! So my Rx went somewhere (hopefully) within the hospital, and no one thought to send it to the right place, or some private individual now has my name, birthdate and test requests. (Awesome) So to those of you who utilize the outpatient lab, double check the one numbers so you're not disappointed. As for me, I have to wait another 14 hours to start medication that can't be started until my lab tests are done. Addendum: Went back yesterday, after getting my doctor's office to re-fax the Rx. (Doc's office, which is, incidentally, a Kennedy team, was annoyed that numbers had been changed without any notification. I agreed) I get to admissions and there is no sign in sheet. Security tells me that there's an intake lady that will take your info. But she's missing. She comes back, and I am taken back by a woman whom I know, from years of coming to Kennedy for various things. This woman, who we will call Ms. S, has been consistently wonderful to me. Helped me, years ago, tackle what seemed like insurmountable problems at the time. I told Ms. S my tale of woe, and she promised to address the problem. And I trust, in her capable hands, things will get done. I'm taken back into the lab, which is gorgeous and redone with thought and care. Previously, for urine samples, your were directed to a bathroom with no place to put the container or organize yourself. And a constantly dripping faucet (that actually sometimes helped me pee, lol) The new facilities have a place for the container, and a little door to place the sample when you're through. Staff, as always, was delightful and kind. So I'm going to chalk my problems up to a settling-in period. I will still use Kennedy for outpatient procedures and labs. Labs especially, because I don't have to sit shoulder to shoulder with someone hacking up a lung, like in the labcorp or quest waiting rooms. Years ago, I had a manager I worked for who had a large, deep scar all throughout his face. I always assumed he got it in a bar fight or something similar when he was younger. One day he told me the story behind the scar. When his mother went into labor with him, she was taken to Kennedy hospital. She had to have a C-section. The doctor cut into her belly so deep and recklessly that it cut his entire face as an unborn infant and left him scared for life. When I was younger, I had a terrible nose bleed that persisted for hours. My girlfriend at the time drove me to Kennedy. I sat in the ER for about 3 hours to the point where it eventually stopped on its own. I was about to leave when they called me back. The young 20-something-year-old doctor cauterized the inside of my nose even though the bleeding had stopped. Then he shoved a cylindrical object up inside my nostril and in a split second, overinflated the device. I let out a scream as the bones around my nasal cavity and eye socket cracked and my eye was pushed out of the socket and off to the side. It was left like that for several days until I could get an appointment with a specialist in Cherry Hill to have it removed. He was shocked at how bad a job the doctor did. To this day, I have a twisted heap of scar tissue all throughout the inside of my right nostril that blocks the passage. Anytime the topic of Kennedy hospital comes up in conversation, I hear horror story after horror story from anyone who's ever been there. Unless it's a matter of life or death, I cannot overstate the importance of selecting any other hospital over this one. read more

I was treated there today via the emergency room. I was greeted immediately with "do you need to be seen" which made me feel secure, welcome and comfortable. Although, my issue was one of worry regarding test, each person validated my reason for being there. I was triaged quickly and promptly moved to a room. The attending nurse and physician were both very professional, engaging and helpful. I was later sent to have requested testing completed and the lab technicians were also very professional, kind and reassuring. This is a far cry from my experiences under JFK. I had a hip replacement at Jefferson, Cherry Hill on Oct 22, 2019. I was expected to spend one night in the hospital. After waking up from surgery I wanted something to eat. A nurse provided me with a gluten free menu because I have Celiac Disease. I called the phone number on the menu and told the woman who answered that I wanted to order from the GF menu. She said they don't have a gluten free menu. I told her yes you do have a GF menu and that I was looking at the menu. She said we don't have a GF menu, who gave it to you, and what hospital are you calling from. I gave her my info and then she asked what I wanted to eat from the menu. I said I wanted the GF lasagna. She said we don't have that. I said I would have the GF pasta, and she said they didn't have that either. So, I opted for a sandwich on a GF roll or bread, as per the menu. They didn't have any GF rolls or bread. She said that she could get me a GF bagel or I could have vegetable lasagna because vegetables are GF. It is the regular pasta that I cannot eat and I had no idea what was used in the lasagna as a thickener. She also offered a salad or fruit. I said forget it and hung up. A few minutes later I received an unordered lunch of mushy cold carrots, broccoli, and a piece of dried out, curled up chicken with spices on the top. I would not eat the chicken because some seasonings are not GF and I had no idea what was on the chicken. I was discharged the next day after 12pm and had nothing to eat until I got home, except for a few snacks I brought with me. I had brought snacks with me to eat because I thought this would happen. It is quite obvious that the dietary department has not been educated on Celiac disease. I would advise anyone with a food allergy, especially those of you with a child with food allergies to avoid this hospital. Never leave a child with a food allergy unattended. It is unacceptable to not be able to accommodate a patient with a FOOD ALLERGY. During my overnight stay I had to have a few medication changes. The only doctor in the hospital worked in the ER. When I needed new meds, I had to wait for the doctor to be contacted and the necessary changes to be made. What a bad night that was. I didn't realize until I got home and checked my insurance website about 5 days later, that when the nurses called the doctor in the ER, I was charged for a patient bedside visit every time they called. I never saw or spoke to a doctor during my stay, except my orthopedic surgeon. You can put the name Jefferson on every side of the hospital, but you will never be like Jefferson in Philadelphia. You are nothing more than a small community hospital pretending to be Jefferson. Jefferson should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this hospital to be so reckless. I believe Jefferson has lowered their standards, and patients with food allergies have been placed at risk. I guess the Americans With Disabilities Act doesn't apply to you. read more

Have been the the emergency department a few times in my life. They have been great each and every time. Hopefully, you will never get a chance to find this out for yourself. But, if you do... Wait times can sometimes been a little long, but you can tell its because there is something going down that's probably bigger than what you've got wrong. The doctors are really great. They get the job done... obviously, since I am writing this review here now. But seriously, they were very professional and eager to help. The nursing staff was great as well. The techs all knew what they were doing and what they were about. Tests were done promptly and results came back promptly. When I've need X-rays or a CAT scan, they were also done pretty promptly. The facilities were clean and obviously recently redone. No complaints there either. When I've been there, there have sometimes been a few crazy patients, bit crazy patients aren't the hospitals fault. I'd bet good money those patients were already crazy when they showed up. read more

My wife attended this location outpatient program. My wife is both physically and mentally disabled, 4'8", less than 120 lbs soaking wet and has a very noticeable limp. The caseworker's attitudes are atrocious (especially Denise Lidovitch who spoke to me and my wife would a snobby attitude that would put Trump to shame). I've seen and heard how they speak to my fiance over the phone (condescending, as if she said the stupidest thing in the world). My wife is also a private person. The doctor (Dr. Rejes) there demanded to know all details about my wife's life, past trauma and such and my wife has come home crying about how the doctor pushed her to tell things that even her family doesn't know. The doctor also wanted to override a decision about her mental health because she "didn't believe her" (despite my wife was monitored 24/7 and was diagnosed from careful watch) So the doctor prescribed Saphris, a medicine that can help my wife a ton and the insurance company said that they'd cover it if the doctor authorized it. On October 9th, the doctor demanded to know details about my wife's life again and when my wife asked her to fill out forms to allow the insurance company; the doctor refused, saying that she's not in the business to listen to her patients and that she doesn't work for them. When my wife walked out, the doctor told Denise that my wife had threatened her life. My wife was, understandably, upset at that accusation (my wife has NO history of violence whatsoever). She called me and we went in together. Denise, with her bad attitude, told my wife she was being discharged because she threatened the doctor, despite the doctor gave no details or even said what my wife said that was threatening. When I tried to speak, Denise spoke over me, telling me that I wouldn't know anything cause I wasn't there (which neither was she). So denise gave us her supervisor's name and number, Jen P. We called Jen P and told her all that happened She said she'd talk to Denise and the doctor. All the while, I called the doctor's supervisor and told them what happened. Jen P called back and said she agreed with the doctor's decision. Dr. Rejes changed her story and said my wife's TONE made her feel threatened. From what my wife described of this woman, she's twice my wife's height and twice my wife's weight. And she felt threatened of my wife, who has not been violent once while in this program. The fact Kennedy Hospital and specifically this location allows these lying abusive fools into their hospital around those with Mental Health issues is atrocious and they all should be fired or have a background check done! I tell anyone who has mental health issues, DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! DENISE, DR. REJES, JEN P AND ALL THE OTHER CASEWORKERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS! read more

I went in this past week with excruciating pain in my abdomen. I was admitted immediately in the ER, and was helped immediately in the room. The nurse taking care of me in the ER was so kind and helpful. I had to stay overnight and every single nurse I had/encountered/talked to was so helpful and kind as well as all the doctors I had seen. They made sure I was comfortable and taken care of. The ladies who did my IV and got blood made it painless (I'm a big baby). Obviously nobody wants to be in the hospital but I at least had great people taking care of me while I was there. read more

I spent 5 days in HELL . I would never recommend this hospital to my worst ENEMY!!!!!!! The first day I arrived I was treat horribly on the second floor. the nurse on duty up until 7pm Wednesday never responded to my call for help button when I needed to go the bathroom. because of that I had to pee my bed and floor multiple times. could not go to the bathroom because i was connect to a iv that was fortunate for me connected to my bed that I could not disconnect. It was horrible. The doctors didn't have any answers and kept advising me that they most likely thought this was a virus that I had to just let run its course. On Wednesday around 7pm, I checked out after peeing myself for the third and final time. I was not given a bed pan or anything even though I requested one and explained that because was being give the iv I had to pee a lot. The doctors kept telling me they don't have a diagnosis and it most likely a infection.. On Thursday i returned to the er because I started to vomit again. When I arrived at the er the nurse that inserts my IV started to insert the iv into a vein that was very painful. When I express to her my pain and asked if she could use a different vein she responded with "well it's a good vein and I'm gonna use it" and then walked out my room. I sat there in pain every time they had flushed, add meds or they gave me med in order to conduct a cat-scan with iodine thru that vein. it was very painful. My vein and right hand is now swollen. Pictures attached. Thursday I spent the entire day in bed and no tests were done. When I asked if I could go home the nurse advised me that they now wanted to check my potassium level because it was low and once that went back up then they would be releasing me. I ask when we're they going to check it they said tomorrow. And entire 12 hrs or more away. When I asked why so long and why not do it now because I have been just sitting in the bed. They then came and took blood at approx 4-5pm.The results came back ok and I was taken off of potassium. When I asked if I was now going to be discharged the nurse Liz stated she would check. The doctor Corrine came into my room to explain that they now wanted to check my liver. Really? I thought the potassium level was what we needed to get normal and then I would be discharged as I was last told? The GI doctors did. It mention any concern or need to check my liver... She stated that she was sorry and the GI doctors where the ones that wanted this. When I had met two GI doctors earlier in the day that came to speak with me and they gave my their conclusions of it being most likely a virus that has to take its course and they didn't see anything else wrong with my organs) therefor which GI doctor is telling Dr Corrine that now want to check my liver????? As per dr Corrine she was personally discharge me tomorrow after she get the results of my liver test. Also, As per Liz they will take my blood tonight for the liver test scheduled for 930pm and that first thing In the morning they would have my doctor Corrine come and see me. At 950pm no one came to take my blood. At 10pm no one came to take my blood finally at 1040 I asked nurse Danielle when would I be doing the blood withdrawal? She made a call and came back to advise me that they missed me by mistake and they forgot about me. What????? How could a hospital forget to follow through with a order??? I ask nurse Danielle to assist me to fix this mistake. She got on the phone and had the nurse return and they withdrew blood at approx 1105pm. 1hr and 35 mins after they should have.... I also had requested that someone from customer service to come so I could tell them about the issue I had In the er and they never came..... What type of service is this????? Why am I going through this????? Why is my hand still hurting why am I sitting In the bed for no reason when it cost $ everyday??? Why is the goal on my board "eat without vomiting " if I haven't vomited in 24 hrs and in still being kept and everyday there is a new test that comes back negative. Beat up twice in kennedy hospital, My mother was a patient for two weeks, in for a "medication adjustment." The first time I visited her three days after she was admitted, she had two black eyes nearly swelled shut and a large bump on her head. Her speech was altered and was talking in a rhythmic up-and-down tone fighting for the words. I talked to six different staff members on the floor and was given six different reasons as to why it happened. One said, she fell on the floor, the second set she fell off her bed, the third said she fell off the toilet, the fourth said she fell off the daybed, the fifth said, there was an incident with the Jerry chair and if you want to see the report, you're going to have to subpoena the records. I met with several staff members. Then one said she came in with it like that. At a later date, one said the cops did that to her when they brought her in. The problem was, the cops did not bring her in, she was simply transferred from another hospital intake department. They assured me it would not happen anymore and I reluctantly left her there. About four days later she had two more fresh black eyes with her eyes nearly swelled shut and another large bump on her for head. This time she could not speak at all but was mumbling gibberish as she tried to speak. The attorney assigned to help us "did not know" if you could help us or not so he intentionally delayed us three months until the statute of limitation for education hospitals expired. We filed a complaint with the agency that investigates hospital abuse. They covered up for the hospital. They wrote a letter to Kennedy Hospital. The hospital responded to the letter with another letter. And the case was closed with no investigation. If you have a friend or relative you want to harm, this is the place to bring him or her. As for my mother, she has permanent brain damage. Since then, she has Learned about 20 words, has taken many years to get over her fear from being beaten up and is completely dysfunctional far beyond simple speach problems as a result of the two concussions she received approximately 4 days apart in this hospital whos answering machine Claims to be one of the top 100 hospitals in the country. read more

There is a lady named Debbie who works in the cafeteria and she is by far the most incredible woman I've ever met! She works so hard and never stops for a minute, she remembers everyone's name as they come thru the cafeteria, she makes every person who makes contact with her feel so special and taken care of. It's incredible to watch. She makes food special for each person and puts so much effort into making everything the best it possibly can be. She actually makes such a huge positive impact as you pass thru the cafeteria that you'll leave the hospital thinking so wonderfully about your experience overall even if everything else was horrible. Just to let you know how over the top amazing she is... I have never written a good or bad review ever on yelp, but I felt she was incredible enough for me to set up a yelp account just to give her the recognition she deserves! Omg, these people only hire idiots. I got sent to the ER by my doctor, and so I went to ER admissions and gave them all my info along with my insurance card, and she tells me she can't find me in the system at all. Then she acts like she did, and copies my insurance card. Two weeks later, I receive the bill in the mail and it shows no insurance. So I call the number on the bill, and the guy I spoke to (the only intelligent person I've spoken to so far) takes my insurance info, and says he doesn't understand why they couldn't find me because my name pops right up. He submits to whoever does the insurance billing. A month later, all these bills start coming in, and in the meantime I meet with my insurance rep at work, who checks into it, and says they billed it incorrectly. So I leave several messages at their patient call in center, and NO ONE EVER calls back, until I leave a message saying I'm going to appeal the bill. Then they call me back the next morning. The girl on the line tells me that the insurance company needs to send them the billing code because they don't know what code to use. WTF??? That's their job. If they don't know the right code, they shouldn't be doing insurance billing. Now my insurance company is trying to call them to straighten them out, and again, they won't answer or return calls. In the meantime, all my bills that I don't owe are getting turned over to collections, and I am risking my credit score being ruined because Kennedy only hires idiots who don't answer their phones. God forbid they should have to do some work. read more

My boyfriend battled recurring kidney stone issues and after multiple visits to the ER within the same month, the hospital team gave him the option to have surgery to remove the stone, or send him home which is all they ever did in the past for him. The expectation set to him was that they'd admit him, keep him the night and he'd have the surgery early the next morning, and be discharged later that afternoon. When the morning rolled around, all communication seemed to break down. No one could tell him anything, they kept trying to feed him despite being told to fast (and continue fasting until whenever they'd get around to the surgery) and no one could give him a straight answer. Hours went by before he decided to check himself out of the hospital. It was only at that time that the staff seemed to slightly care, giving him time after time that his surgery would be later and later in the day. He, and of course myself as well, will never step foot back into this establishment. They don't care about their patients, they have no sense of urgency, and I still question what kind of communication they have with each other. I can never trust them again and I can only hope if anything were to ever happen to me or someone in my family again, we are well enough to get to any other hospital but this one. read more

Kennedy university hospital has the worst most unprofessional er staff I have encountered. Let me be clear not the doctors or nurses but rather the security guards and the women and man who check you in. I brought my co-worker here on an emergency and was waiting in their er waiting room. In my 45 minutes there I heard the security guard make jokes about heroin and syringes. That the best way to quit smoking was to put down the cigarettes and pick up the syringe. Ha, ha hysterical, we are only in the worst drug epidemic this country has ever seen and I and most people know someone who's life has been destroyed by heroin. I am sure as a security guard at a hospital you are inundated with drug addicts so maybe you have had your fill with them overdosing and making your life difficult but you work at a hospital have some compassion. Secondly the same guard made a joke after a clearly intoxicated man tried to leave the hospital still hooked to the iv line. He said let him leave, let them all leave that way I can go home. Again you work at a hospital you idiot have some compassion, no one wants to be here, we just have to be. Finally two more of this lovely staff spent 10 minutes shaking the vending machine in an attempt to get free food. It was loud, obnoxious and just plain stupid. And in general these people that work here were all loud and obnoxious. You work at an er waiting room. There are people in pain there, maybe you should concentrate on them instead of the freaking Jimmy Johns you got for free (which was the only time I saw these people positive about anything), if I had a choice I wouldn't bring my worst enemy here. If I was an administrator I would seriously review your security staff and your clerical staff at the ER in Kennedy University Hospital in Cherry Hill. It is embarrassing and worse it is unsettling to hear people who are supposed to be taking care of us speak so callously about the patients and life in general. This is only the Cherry Hill location I am talking about here, the other locations seem to be ok. So I'm in here for a extremely scary and rapid heartbeat. My jaw was hurting and my left arm. I'm young, so I was kind of scared, it seemed too soon for my heart to be acting like this. They determined that it was a drug interaction. Two things I had been prescribed interacted in a bad way, making my heart race and me feeling like I was going to die. In order to get my heart to stop racing, they gave me an IV of Adavan. The whole staff looked as if they couldn't be bothered. I would ask what they were testing for with my 4 vials of blood, they wouldn't answer. I looked at my heart monitor and my heartbeat was down, to 130 from 160. I still felt really bad so I asked politely if there was any way I could have more of the iv so my heart would calm down more. They looked at me like I was crazy, finally, after 2 hours, gave me more. My heartrate was still 130 when they discharged me. I felt discarded, like no one was concerned about this.
