They started at £20 and went up as far as £40. We decided to go for £30 and she asked if we wanted her to make it up there and then-which we did! I must say, watching her work was really mesmerising and she mad it look so easy! The flowers were like a representation of Autumn! They were orange, red, deep purple and rust coloured. Truly gorgeous. I have to say this is definitely my new favourite place to go for flowers! Really job well done!

But then, after having been quoted ridiculous prices for wedding flowers, I tried the Alexandra in desperation and found that they have plenty in the quality stakes too, for about half the price of their nearest wedding flower competitors. I got bouquets, buttonholes, flowers in vases for the reception (which they went to the bother of tying so I could hand them out to people as they were leaving) and a teeny tiny buttonhole about the size of a buttecup for my little tiny pageboy. Other florists tried to tell me that the bouquets were so expensive because they had to buy so many spare of the highest grade of flowers. Maybe if you're a connoisseur, you would see a difference, but to me they were just the same as other fresh flowers - no nonsense flowers at no nonsense prices.

Set up and run by Tim Kirkpatrick some ten years ago, Floral Earth has become a must-use service from one off purchases to weddings and funerals. Tim is very ably assisted by his team, including the redoubtable Neil (his dad) and together they make the world of cut flowers a better place. My sister-in-law once ordered flowers online for me (she lives in NewcastleUpon Tyne) and I knew they were from Foral Earth the second I clpped eyes on them. I swear, they are to flowers what Jo Malone is to scents. They exceeded my expectations in every way! My daughter and I have a very dear cousin in Belfast. We wanted to send her a bouquet of flowers, from each of us, for her birthday. I couldn't find my usual go-to florist and picked Norah Mitchell's due to their photographs, and price. I live in California and my daughter and her family live on the east coast. Vicki was wonderful to deal with on email and Carolyn was very kind and helpful on the phone. Flower arrangements were lovely and very affordable. Even my daughter remarked how beautiful and affordable her arrangement was. We highly recommend them and will be using them again during the upcoming Christmas holiday! They were extremely knowledgeable, knew how to deliver my vision and suggested great cost saving alternatives, when I went over the budget. They initially did a really good consultation with the lovely florist Helen in the shop, I knew immediately I had picked the right place, Helen knew exactly what I wanted. On the day of the wedding they delivered and set up fabulous displays at my venue, a beautiful altar arrangement and stunning arrangements that were attached and hung on the tall candlestick holders at either side of the alter, lots of my guests commented on how amazing the flowers were. Jill Edwards could not do enough to help me, this was fantastic and took a lot of stress out of the preparations. On the morning of the wedding they also delivered the bouquets and button holes, they were out of this world!!! So delighted with the service and all the flowers that were organised, the bouquets had Guilder Roses, Akito Roses Rosemary, Fennel Thlaspi Green Bell Eryngium, Peony Roses, Eucalyptus and Lily Grass, they looked and smelt Devine!! The mother of the groom and bride loved their bunches they got at the speeches and both commented on how fresh and how long they lasted. Could not recommend this place enough!!!

I'm Irish and proud and when I walk past Carrolls and see the Belfast t-shirts and the tourists mulling around I get a great sense of pride. I am proud that if a Spanish/French/Ethiopian wanted to purchase something, nay anything with a shamrock on it they could get it here. I'm proud that pencils and pencil cases, hairbands, rubbers, sweets, aprons and the like with sheep/shamrocks/leprahauns on them can all be purchased here! 2. The Irish tunes that are being pumped outta this place from opening until closing fill me with happiness and make me want to sing along as I am walking past in the pissy rain on dull and gray winters afternoon - sure you couldn't beat it.
