It was apparently a new company, and the owner did not have any references yet, so I was a bit hesitant hiring them. Because there were no references, and I did feel a bit uncomfortable letting a complete stranger in my house unsupervised, I made sure that we would be there for the 1st clean to meet her and help with ???. When scheduling I told owner that we needed to be there for at least an hour to give to show her around and that we needed to leave by a set time; he agreed and scheduled us. I was a bit annoyed when on the clean date, the woman showed up 20 min before we had to leave, giving us basically zero time to go through the large house and definitely no time to feel comfortable leaving her there alone with no references. We decided to cancel the clean that day and reschedule to another day that we would be there. On the rescheduled day, we were both able to meet with her and stayed at the home for the duration of the clean. My impression of her was she was very polite and seemed extremely thorough. As we went though the house, I explained that I would pick up as much as I could before she got there, so she would predominantly be able to focus on the actual cleaning of the house rather than picking up and then cleaning. She expressed to me that picking up was not that big of an issue and I reiterated that I would do my best to keep things tidy for cleaning day. While I was showing her around, noticed that one of the kids rooms was messy and I started cleaning it up. She said, "no don't worry, I can do this." I thanked her and said I would finish picking the room up for her. There was a bit of a language barrier but it wasn't that big of a deal. I did however notice something that I thought was strange but didn't bring it up because of the language barrier and hoped that it wasn't going to be an issue. When she was cleaning my little kids bedroom, she had thrown away a doll shoe. I knew that the doll had the other shoe in a bin w the doll, so I removed the shoe from the trash bag and put it in the bin. As the cleanings progressed, she seemed to be doing a good job and I felt more comfortable with her in our house alone. I stopped worrying and stopped really paying attention to details of her clean. Fast forward 4 months and we noticed all 3 ceiling fans in our house were crusted with dust. I reached out to him as asked for her to clean them, but the following clean they were not done. I informed him about this. The next clean she did the fans but I started looking around house and noticing she definitely was not cleaning well. I let Jay know and sent him pics and videos expressing my frustration. There were spider webs everywhere, there was dust all over walls and surfaces, the toilets had not been cleaned nor the floors around them in addition to other issues. He apologized and said they would fix it. The following clean was the same level of service and I sent him pics/videos. At this point I'm furious and asked for a refund for 2 cleans. He also claimed that she was at my house for 5h but we have cameras and a Schlage lock, so she was time stamped at 3.5h. When I told him this and that we had camera footage he claimed they have gps and time stamps and he doesn't lie. I'm not sure how this statement is able to refute the time stamps on our security system or if he didn't believe we had one but I know the cleaning woman knew she was on camera from day 1 and she uses a code to enter the house. He refused one refund and gave me a hard time claiming they had picked up toys and clothes and were not able to get to the actual clean. At no point in the 8m had he ever expressed that they were having a time problem w the clean or issue w the little extra picking up. I was never asked to pay more money for more time(I would have payed more for a good job). He broke his contract w us. Then he claimed that if I left a poor review on google he would be able to have it removed.
