Leftovers from my roll
Christine E.

Holy cow! This place exceeded my expectations. And we ate the rolls so fast, I didn't take a picture (sorry). We had the Sunset roll, the Godzilla roll and the Dynamite roll. Each was uniquely delicious and did not disappoint. Don't expect a fancy place - this is a perfectly fast-casual environment where you order at the counter and seat yourself. Food is prepared FRESH and comes to you. Highly recommended. I prefer this place over any other sushi spot in Columbia.

Our go to location for reasonably priced sushi in Columbia. Lots of options and can build your own if they don't have what you want! Easy to order ahead, friendly staff.

Specialty rolls - yummy roll, sunset roll

We were excited to try this new sushi spot in town. Sushi is my favorite food, and we were pleasantly surprised! This spot is a fast casual restaurant, order at the counter. The staff was friendly overall. - Taro milk tea (4/5): this is the best boba in Columbia! Good portions, good boba. Just a bit high in price. - Sunset roll (4.5/5) this was my favorite specialty roll, just a bit too much sauce overall. The fish tasted fresh, good flavors overall - Yummy roll (4/5): very tasty, lots going on though with lots of sauce. Portions are a bit small especially for the price. - Salmon poke bowl (2 proteins) (3/5): okay overall, they put lots of rice in the bowl. Some of the side options are not your typical poke bowl ingredients though. Also the seaweed salad is extra, so is avocado. I wish they had imitation crab offered as a side as well. - Oreo monster ice cream (4/5): this was really yummy! We got the cookies and cream ice cream, which had good chunks of Oreo. The waffle was a great pairing with the ice cream, as it was a good balance to the sweetness of the Oreos and ice cream. Bottom line: really good boba and dessert! Sushi was yummy but price was high for the portion size

Kenko sushi was great, the rolls that we got were delicious. I went with my boyfriend and our favorite was the godzilla roll. The rainbow roll and shrimp tempura roll were also great. The tiger roll was very saucy and rich, it was good but I liked the other ones more. The service was great and we had a fun time sitting inside the restaurant and eating. Would love to go back to try the bubble waffle ice cream or some of their drinks.

I thought it was a sit down type restaurant. It wasn't, customers order on at the counter and their food brought to them. Order their poke bowl, which involves choicing your toppings for the bowl. I wished they placed more salmon in my poke bowl. The rainbow roll was decent. They do give sizeable portions especially for the poke bowl.

This is a great little place! I thoroughly enjoyed my tempura shrimp bowl; though I did need to go back in because some of the toppings were missing. Love that they have mango as an option but I was hoping for cooked broccoli instead of raw. Taro milk tea was good but not my favorite. Overall I'd eat here again if I'm ever in town, thankful for some healthy options!

Superman Roll

Grabbed the Superman roll and the milk tea. Sushi was good. The milk tea wasn't bad but whatever the balls were in it just wasn't for me.. my nephew grabbed the ice cream. He loved it.

You will get a bang for your buck at this location. The quality speaks for the price. I am new to sushi and for this being my first time, I truly enjoyed every bite. The ingredients are fresh, cooked well, and natural. For any first timers who are new and want to try Sushi I would recommend getting the Jennifer Roll without Mango and a Green Passion Smoothie. The teas are delicious and refreshing.

The sushi is always great! Anything I've ever ordered has been awesome. The teas also never miss :) Their employees are always nice and accommodating.

And when caught, instead of owning up, they point the finger at distributors. Case in point: On November 26, 2025, we discovered that the International Delight Zero Sugar Hazelnut coffee creamer we bought just last week was nearly five months expired. That's right--June 2025! My wife thought I was being overly cautious checking the date ("we just bought it!"), but thank goodness I did. Imagine serving spoiled creamer with Thanksgiving coffee--talk about a holiday horror story. When I called the manager, his response was a calm, "I'm sorry, these things happen. Would you like me to replace it?" Replace it?! Sir, this isn't about swapping out a bad product--it's about public safety. He doubled down, blaming distributors. Let's be real: no distributor is rolling up with trucks full of products that expired half a year ago. The only way this happens is if the item sat on their shelves, month after month after month... gathering dust in the refrigerated section. We're not talking about a random can of beans here. This is a milk-based product. It should be checked weekly, if not daily. The fact that it wasn't is absolutely unacceptable--and frankly, terrifying.

A Mixed Bag at Mochi Mochi in Columbia…read more My recent visit to Mochi Mochi in Columbia, Missouri, offered a blend of experiences. The vibes were okay, complemented by some decent art inside the establishment. Ordering options were convenient, allowing customers to choose between using a kiosk or interacting with the cashier. Navigating the menu, which includes teas, smoothies, and customizable sugar levels, presented a unique challenge. Determining the ideal sugar amount can be tricky, adding a layer of complexity to the ordering process. The chicken wings, while well-cooked, fell short of expectations. Despite ordering a specific style, they arrived fried with the sauce on the side. Tossing them myself was not the anticipated experience, and the sauce struggled to adhere to the wings. On a brighter note, the Mochi Mochi donuts stood out, offering a delightful variety of flavors. The different types of donuts were a highlight of the visit. Parking, fortunately, was hassle-free with a accessible parking lot available to everyone. While the experience had its ups and downs, Mochi Mochi provides an intriguing spot for those seeking a diverse range of treats and beverages. All in all, I'd maybe go back but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

We ordered delivery, and the food was ready relatively quickly. - Taro mochi donut (5/5): SO YUMMY. Perfect texture of doughy, chewy, deliciousness. And the taro flavor is pretty strong but tasty. - Honey garlic Korean chicken wings (4.5/5): The food was semi cold by the time it was delivered, but we just popped it in the air fryer and it was so good! It was crispy, juicy, and the sauce so super garlicky which I love.

The brussel sprouts were out of this world (just the right amount of crunchy, sweet, and savory). The pork loin with smashed bacon potatoes was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. The carrot cake we had for dessert was the best carrot cake I've ever had. One thing that really surprised me was the portions. Usually at an upscale casual restaurant like this, the portions tend to be on the smaller side. Not here. You had to roll us out! Richard, our waiter, was amazing, and the rest of the staff was so nice and attentive. I've been saying for years that the food scene around the lake is a little disappointing. You can get pretty burnt out on all the restaurants serving similar foods that start to taste the same. 1932 Reserve is such a refreshing change. It's a great place for a special occasion, a date night, or just when you want a really delicious meal at a nice restaurant and you're tired of the typical restaurants around the lake. The one negative would be the parking, but it seems like they have a golf cart running people back and forth, which definitely helps. The Reserve has absolutely proven that they deserve a place at the lake, and I really hope they're successful for many years to come. The food and experience was truly great. It's the kind of restaurant you might expect to find in a big city, and I'm so glad it's here.

Experiences have always had up-and-down moments, but this time was disappointing because I really wanted it to be great. It just wasn't. The Good: The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and the waterfront ambiance is spot on. It's clearly the place to be at the lake--so good job on the venue. The Service & Atmosphere: Service was adequate, but far from fine dining. If you're charging premium prices, the service model needs to match. Having random runners drop food at the table without knowing who ordered what is diner or casual Mexican restaurant service, not an elegant dining experience. The new manager stopped by twice--a nice touch, until we actually provided constructive feedback. Instead of offering a remedy, he offered excuses about being new and didn't handle criticism well. The Food: Apps (Deviled Eggs & Tuna): Both looked like they'd been plated earlier in the day--they had an unappetizing "sheen" to them that made them look leftover rather than fresh. The flavor on the eggs was completely muted, and the tuna was equally lusterless. Salads: We split the Caesar, and our friends had the wedge. They were served without any offer of fresh pepper. When we flagged down a staff member, they brought out cheap grocery-store salt and pepper grinders. Later, we were told the new chef prefers not to offer pepper on the table. With all due respect to the chef: that's the guest's choice, not yours. (Side note: the wedge was tasty, but oddly wasn't actually cut into a wedge). Mains: The ladies had the Sea Bass--the dish that originally put this place on the map. It was okay, but not as good as it used to be; the new Asian flair and bowl presentation take away from what used to make it the star of the show. The pork chop was good and thoroughly enjoyed. My lasagna had a great portion size and good base flavor, but it was dry as jerky with practically zero sauce. The Verdict: The restaurant will continue to thrive simply because of its location and the lack of competing fine-dining options on the water. But when you're dropping $500 on dinner, you expect accountability and an outstanding meal. We won't be back anytime soon.
