Airports are full of things you would find in a gas station, for quadruple the price. However, Hip & Humble is a bit different and a lot cooler. Sure, I still agree that things are overpriced but I could spend quite a while browsing Hip & Humble. They have unique stuff and cute stuff. They have waterbottles, small clothing items, all kinds of knick knacks that make perfect gifts. I really think Hip & Humble stands out from the other "gas station" type stores in the area. It has a completely different feel to it. I just feel like this place is a lot more my style. While I love all the good concessions you can get elsewhere, I enjoy the one-of-a-kind products that Hip & Humble offers.

All tags were the on it including the Koo De Ker label. I was asked by the young woman if I had the receipt. I said, no it was a gift and I wanted to exchange for a smaller size. She indicated that I was too late to return or exchange. She could even get up off her perch to see if their was one that I could buy (and sell the other one on Posh Mark). Unbelievable! It's not like I've waited until February to bring something back. Koo De Ker should mark on their labels their return policy on gifts! As I left I said, "I guess I won't be back, but you don't even care". Her response was "no I don't". I get it! It's a small boutique store but SERIOUSLY! I would suggest to the owner to do a little training. But then again, perhaps she doesn't CARE either.

Bought 4 olive wood aperitivo bowls ($40). As I checked out I asked gentleman if I could bring it back. "Yea before Jan 2" Here I am trying to return today. Turns out you only get store credit. Perhaps the cashier said that when I bought it? Doubtful given he struggled with the cash register and could only sent a text receipt. The return attempt was an unfriendly customer experience - especially at Christmas time. Shame on me for not pressing for clarification at point of sale - shame on them for having a lame return policy. Won't be back and will warn all I can to do the same. Caveat emptor!!!

Oh sure, the name sounds like your favorite hipster band (with a didgeridoo or a theremin in the…read moremix, just to be eclectic) but it really does make sense: the jewelry and gifts are made of minerals and other matters, and stores like this... well, they matter. Recently moved from Pierpont, it's safe to say that 900 S has been a-changing when a store like Mineral & Matter shows up. It has that art and artisan vibe, and brings a real maker vibe to this up-and-coming part of Central City. As I understand it, the owner is the jewelry crafter, and that's who was there when I popped in the other night. She was happily laboring away at her table and greeted me kindly, but kept to her jewelry making while I perused the store. I do like the designs, which keep things simple, sharp, and beautiful in their shapes. The owner has an eye for shapes, lines, and even... architecture, let's say? She doesn't rely on exotic stones or gaudy stacks to tell her story, instead building necklaces, earrings, and the like with simple minerals and well thought out shapes. I'm always drawn to good cards, and they have a small but wonderful assortment on the corner wall. Over the summer I haven't sent many good cards, and this assortment was wonderful and the only complaint is that it's too small--I love cards with no reason, and though the happy birthday ones are nice and unique, I want even more designs and messages! In the end, it's a small shop but I still wish I would have had more time to really hold, turn over, see, and touch more items here. Due to the small size, everything is so well curated that each item deserves attention.
