They are just tops. Full stop! I just got back from probably my 15th visit in 10 years. The reason it is that many is because I try to go to them for EVERYTHING possible. They have kept my 22 year old car running smoothly, even when it appeared it might be done; and it is almost as if they try to find ways NOT to charge me at times. Of course, I gladly pay what is required for services rendered. Obviously, the big issues are critical - such as they dealing with my transmission two years back. But it is also the little things that mean so much. I could give some great examples of above and beyond, but I won't here out of concern someone might try to take advantage. They do these things out of genuine kindness on their part, and as ways of supporting loyal, appreciative, customers. I told them I hope they NEVER retire. I have nothing to gain by stating this. I found this place a few years back. Really friendly people here that know what they're doing. I like their level of transparency and honesty. Whenever I bring my car in, I'm not worried about being up sold for stuff that I don't need and I look forward to hearing a straightforward assessment of what I actually need. The only downside I can think of is them being so popular that if you don't have an appointment, it's pretty hard to get your car in there and out in the same day unless you bring it in first thing in the morning. On my most recent trip, a pump of mine was loose and I think the fan belt was breaking. My car was making a really loud noise and I was scared to drive it around. Luckily, they knew exactly what was wrong within the first five minutes and was able to work on my car that same day. But this is not just unique to this trip. I can't say enough good things about Kenny and Piechowski Auto Center. My 2004 Honda Element was making scary-sounding noises that I had never heard before. I'm the type of "call-my-dad-for-anything-car-related" type of gal, but he didn't know exactly what was wrong because he lives in Nevada. I live around the area and decided to stop by Piechowski Auto due to it being close and having good reviews. Kenny and I immediately went for a drive around the block, and then he inspected my car to diagnose the issue. Turns out my front struts were completely worn out. He gave me a quote and, unlike many other mechanics would have done, said "I know it's expensive; call your dad and see what he thinks, and then get back to me. It also doesn't need to be fixed immediately, so take your time." What a breath of fresh air! I ended up calling back almost two months later, ready to get my car fixed. He remembered me on the phone and told me to come in. Thankfully, I was able to drop my car off on a Wednesday afternoon and pick it up the following day, so I didn't have to leave work in the middle of the day. Kenny also called me during the fix and said that my wheels needed alignment -- an extra $100, but again, not mission-critical -- and I agreed to have that done all in one go. I will be recommending Piechowski Auto to all of my friends! As a young twenty-something girl, I'm always scared of being bamboozled/swindled at the auto shop. These guys are so honest! read more

I haven't written a Yelp review in YEARS and went on hiatus after my Elite streak ended, but my experience here compelled me to hop back on. This is hands down the most trustworthy mechanic and auto repair shop I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing in my life. I have an older car, and one of the parts I needed could not be found despite going to 2 different places, yet John was persistent and put in so much effort to successfully obtain it. John is very straightforward in diagnosing and addressing whatever your issue is. I've had two issues fixed and did not feel overcharged. He and his brother Ken are so genuinely kind. I was preparing to do an 7-8 hr drive for the first time in years and was trying to think of things to get checked. While I was there for my repairs, I asked Ken if he could look at my oil levels. Not only did he check, but he went above and beyond to also refill my coolant, washer fluid, oil, and brake fluid to ensure I'd have a safe drive. Even though the shop was extremely busy, he kindly took the time to help me with these extraneous things beyond what I had come in for, and even reversed my car out for me when done because it was on a challenging street. Now i feel safe and ready for my long drive with peace of mind. I will be recommending John & Ken to everyone!!! read more

I returned to Piechowski's late last month to take care of a minor leak that John had said was not urgent and could wait. However, since I was going to be back in LA for Christmas anyhow, I decided to take advantage of being there and having access to John and his team. Coincidentally, while driving down from SF to LA, my check engine light came on. As always, it was related to an intermittent transmission code that I've been fighting with since 2012. Long story short, it's a known and pesky issue with 2007 Corollas. I was going to need to get smogged in January so I asked John to see what could be done. Piechowski's is not a transmission shop but they can do certain things to help. In this case, John suggested draining and replacing the fluid and clearing the code to see what would happen on my drive back. It worked! The light did not come back on and I was able to pass smog right after the new year. The light still has not come back on a month later. As I was waiting to find out about the cost of the repairs, I realized that I wasn't worried. It's so comforting to work with someone you can trust. When I went in to pick up my car, the bill was about half of what I'd thought it might be. I actually felt guilty about it! This is a great shop and I will continue to plan my repairs around my visits to Los Angeles. read more

I ran over a block parking curb months ago. Whenever I drove, it seemed as if the wheel part on the driver side was loose. I scheduled an appointment to see Ken based on the reviews. While working on the alternator, they were also able to fix a radiator hose leak (without any parts replacement). I really appreciate the honesty and integrity of this business. Called on a Monday morning and was able to get a slot the following morning for an oil change. I was originally quoted $85-90 for a full synthetic oil change for my 2019 Ford sedan, while other shops had quoted me $100. To my surprise, it ended up only being $80! This place is a gem. John took care of my car when I came in and finished up in about 50 minutes. There are some chairs in a waiting area, but there are also a lot of restaurants within walking distance (John had some good recs). I really appreciated his great service and conversation. I have been here a few times over the last few years for different issues on my old car - dead battery, oil change/maintenance, and today for a coolant light that was coming on. I called on Tuesday and asked if I could bring it in today. I expected to need to leave it for the day, but he checked it right away, added the needed fluid and I was on my way in less than 10 mins! I even asked if I needed an oil change and he said to wait because it was too early! And he didn't even charge me this time! I have always felt they were very honest and very fair with their prices, and have never felt taken advantage of...which is rare in almost any business these days! He's very reliable, and will be honest with what your car needs. I took my car to the dealer and they told me I needed to replace a leaking oil pan, I knew immediately to check with John first. He told me it's fine and no need to replace it immediately, where the dealer was trying to make me freak out and telling me I needed to get it done now or my car would explode before I drove it off the lot Another time, my brake were making a funky sound so I took it to Piechowski Auto. John drove around the block with me and told me what the noise was but said my brakes were fine. I was looking for a good auto place to get my general maintenance done, as I had paid off my lease and didn't want to deal with the dealership's prices. So a friend recommended this place and said his wife had brought her Prius in for years and loved the service. The volume of enthusiastic Yelp reviews and the fact that it was reasonably close to where I live had me convinced. I called the shop and spoke to John (Piechowski, brother of Ken) one morning and he had me in the next day. John was simply wonderful. A very affable guy who's been at it for decades and clearly really cares about doing great work and giving people an honest price. He explained things in valuable detail and patiently answered a number of questions for me as well. And when I saw the invoice, I thought I had been undercharged. He even helped me with some windshield buildup and managed to remove the dealer sticker that had been welded on forever.
