Called out as we were having some water pressure issues. On…read morethe phone was told the tech was unable to provide estimate over the phone or give a proper ETA of when they would arrive, when the technician arrived asked when they would be able to inform of the cost and was told only once they pulled the pump. Asked them to pull the pump in order to provide the cost. Instead worker decided that he would replace unit with a new one and only tell me what the cost was in a take it or leave it and you will be completely without water. Invoice also included items I don't know that actually would have needed to be replaced and at a price 3X to 4X what I could have bought the materials for Asked to speak to the owner which was told he was not available. Left the worker with payment and asked that before they ran it to have the owner please give me a call. Instead they did not call and tried to run the full payment then $300 off the full payment then $500 off then $1000 off. After a couple of calls back and forth we reached a resolution, but Mark was not happy with it. THEN I get a Voicemail where I can hear the office Receptionist suggesting that they trespass onto my property, and some man that sounds like Mark saying they cant do that again.

I had J&M Drilling come out and replace my well pump and yard hydrant. Had it quoted for a little…read moreover $3000.00. They did it promptly but sent an invoice for some services I clearly denied (length of corroded pipe, 12-2 wire, well cap) which they tried to upsell me when they came . When I objected to the charges they claimed that I was CLEARLY informed of everything. Their way to resolve it was wanting to come back and pick up their material. Really? I recommend getting a clear estimate (which I never received) via email to avoid these types of charges. The workers were very nice (except for saying some very corroded was new when clearly it was sitting outside in a yard for a few years). Jim was a work horse and was great with the boom and backhoe. In hindsight I should have gotten estimates from other well drilling companies in the area. That's on me. My end cost billed was over $5000.00 Update: The owner called me and angrily said that his workers said I looked in the galvanized pipe that was severely corroded and claimed the wire they replaced was approved by me, both of which were untrue. The owner inferring I am a liar. BUT HE WASN"T THERE. He said if it would make me feel better than take a few hundred dollars off. I'll take a few hundred dollars off but I don't feel better because of the verbal exchange.

After reviewing both…read moreGoogle and Yelp reviews for well contractors in the area we settled on Wyckoff Well Drilling based on all the positive reviews where Google is a 5 star average! I called the business at 7:30 am, a time that most businesses of this nature were closed and was surprised to reach a human voice on the other end end. Seeing that we were literally out of water and in a lurch the owner, Robert, was able to juggle his full schedule and was get to our house less than an hour after contacting him. Upon arrival Robert was able to quickly diagnose our issue as a failed pressure switch and had parts on hand to effect the repair all within an hours timeframe. The service call with labor and parts came to $140 which was very very reasonable in my mind. I truly expected it to be much more due to all the price gouging I have seen in this area in the past and definately did not expect to be up and running again within 2 hours of my original call. Nice! Throughout the process Robert and his grandson Trevor were super friendly and explained what was going on throughout the process showing great patience with my questions as he went about the business of the repair. During the repair process he identified that the pressure switch had failed as a result of my 35 year old pressure tank being near end of useful life where the bladder was clearly starting to fail. He explained to me that we could get a few more years out of my old tank but the tradeoff was that my well pump which is also 35 years old was getting cycled way more than it should which could lead to a an earlier failure of that key component which would be a much more expensive repair on the order of $3500. At no point did he pressure me to replace the pressure tank but instead provided key data/information I needed to make an informed decision all the while stating I could push this tank replacement off maybe a couple more years. Being a retired engineer I appreciated both his honesty and candor where he presented the facts/data which is the way all contractors should act and most dont and let me make up my own mind where I decided to proceed with the replacement of the pressure tank in order to extend the life of my old more expensive well pump which he did two days later. No over the top pressure tactics here and the usual scare tactics that contractors like use. Again nice! Overall I was completely satisfied with the work he did on my well system and how he handled his business. Reasonable cost, first class work and a friendly demeanor are hard to beat in my book and I will definately contacting him for any well issues I have in the future. Five stars in my book.
