Having never been to Terrigal before I can't comment whether there are better places in the area…read morebut Harrisons is A-Ok. Just a block back from the beach this huge restaurant serves food up to 3:30 which is perfect if you want to have a late lunch. They do all day breakfast too and I've learnt that you can usually trust a place that will still serve you eggs and bacon at 3pm. My only critique about this place is it's just a bit bland. Their menu is extensive and their food tastes good it just felt like they could do more with the place and the waitress, who was the only one on at the time serving about 2 other tables in the restaurant, seemed a little disinterested in us. I ordered Avocado on a baguette with poached eggs and a side order of bacon which was just enough to fill me up. Unfortunately the poached eggs were solid. I much prefer when my egg yolk runs all over my plate but the meal was still delicious. One of my colleagues ordered the daily special which was a prawn risotto and I had food envy because it looked really amazing and smelt delicious! Another colleague ordered a chicken salad but the salad was a bit overpowered by the dressing so her lettuce was a bit soggy. It's a relaxing place to just chill out for an afternoon and they do know how to make a decent coffee. I feel it might be one of those places that could be a bit hit and miss depending on what you order and what time of day you are ordering it. I do like the fact that they have signs everywhere that say they are dog friendly. Because if you love dogs then you're okay by me!

Harrisons is set a block back from Terrigal Beach on a shady corner opposite a mysteriously vacant,…read moregrassy lot that's been vacant and grassy for at least 15 years and possibly since Methuselah was a boy - why is it still vacant when it's in prime position and is worth a crudload of wedge, I can't understand it and nobody can give me an answer. I need Scooby Doo and the team in to investigate. Especially Daphne. Mrrowr. And if Velma is away that weekend, well, no biggie, right? But, Harrisons. It's big, occupying the space that two normal, regular-sized cafes would normally fill. It's got a staff of fresh-faced young teenage girls kitted out all in black and with impeccable manners: these girls are trained well, my only wish would be they smile and joke with the customers more. Still, it was early, and I was hungover, so maybe they read the signs and exercised due prudence. Ordered the banana milkshake and man, did it pay off. A giant stainless steel cup, the metal foggy with condensation and deliciously chill to the touch. This is the milkshake I remember enjoying at every milk bar when I was a boy when such milk bars still existed and weren't replaced by awful generic charcoal chicken shops with names like Chookas and Charcoal Charlies. Le sigh. The salad sambo was big, but a bit dry and I kinda wanted to be surprised with something exotic on there, but that was more my fault than theirs. A friend got the haloumi salad, which looked epic, and another friend the chicken schnitty roll, which also looked epic. If it weren't for my milkshake I would have felt justifiably crabby at being so comprehensively out-ordered. Nice relaxed feel at this place. Good coffee too, and the people-watching is up there also.

Received four eggs on toast with spinach underneath and something that looked like shaved pork. No hollandaise sauce and no hash browns. The waitress said the girl taking our order got it wrong. She thought I wanted additional eggs but I said what about the rest? and what was the shaved pork lookalike? She said it was ham. It's didn't look, smell or taste like ham. She brought out bacon but once again it didn't look, smell or taste like bacon. We don't mind if a place doesn't have bacon or ham but please inform us. We checked the website and we didn't receive nothing like the photos shown on the site or anything saying it was alternative meats. The coffee was good thou.

Hippies would be happy but my carnivore friends wouldn't complain. The bacon is there (yuck) if your friends want it. I was so thrilled to find a vegetarian keto breakfast out. And it was delicious! The keto bread was very good. I don't have to be keto or vegetarian but it feels good when I am. My friend is a vegetarian with no other dietary requirements, and he loved the pie. He swears he will be back soon. The third thing we ordered was the gluten free vegan lasagne: I liked it and appreciate effort like this but it was not a delicious wow like everything else: fresh with good texture and look, but we doing it a bit sweet. Nevertheless I'd be willing to eat it again.

I had the breakfast bruschetta with grilled baby tomatoes, feta, smashed avocado, and a citrus relish. My hubby had the bacon and egg roll, and our toddler tried the pancake special (ricotta choc chip). The coffee was really good. The kid's corner play area meant that got to relax a bit and enjoy our food, since our kiddo could play while we finished our meals. If you're in a rush, there's a great range of cakes, raw slices, and other things to go.

We had a group of 9 with 3 vegans. All three of us picked the one item on the menu that was vegan without alteration - the Grounds Mexican Bowl. When the food came out however, they had added a huge blob of creme fraiche to each bowl. We inquired as to what it was, as that item was not listed on the menu. The server who came back to clarify took no responsibility, stating that they'd rather not remake the meals as it would be a waste of food, and besides, it didn't say the meal was "vegan" on the menu. However, they haven't listed any dietary coding on the menu - no vegetarian, vegan, or even gluten free, so one can assume that the food item without the meat, dairy or egg on the menu, would be vegan. The server said they could "scrape the cream off" - something that would have been particularly difficult on my fiance's bowl as it was over all of the chickpeas and his avocado. In the end we brushed off the unapologetic waitress and put the creamed ingredients onto my mum's plate and went with quite diminished meals. The server had also told us we should have mentioned we were vegan - but we'd told the nice waiter who took our order that we were - so overall we found her rude and lacking in customer service. The young guy and girl who attended our table for the most part were lovely, so I don't want this review to reflect poorly on them - but if you're expecting something precisely as the menu says - perhaps you should account for the chefs to just whack whatever they want in your bowl. They're just lucky we're only lactose intolerant, and not completely allergic.
