Cary Carrico is a great agent, professional and very responsive. I compared several companies and there wasn't even a close second.

Independent insurance agents are the best. I have had nothing but very positive experiences with…read moreKleinschmidt Insurance. I'll try to convey, in the following interactions with Kleinschmidt, is that I have consistently seen the agency give thoughtful consideration to my interests. I would definitely stay with them if I didn't have to move out of state for a job. Kris, our agent got us a great deal on our auto insurance. We know because we had done our homework with several other agencies during the process. The price was pretty good and Auto-Owners insurance often pays claims more readily than others. Kris was also very knowledgable and helpful in explaining Michigan's insurance. When asked about life insurance, Kris then referred us to another independent insurance agent with whom his agency only had a loose connection. essentially saying, "when I get life insurance, this is who I go to." This new agent met with us individually and treated us like we were his only clients. We had to do some digging to find out that Ron is actually pretty high up in the insurance world, selling policies to people and organizations who are worth way more and purchase way more than what we could possibly afford. Yet, this agent treated us as if we were just as important as his multi-million dollar customers. In short, Kris did us a huge favor by recommending a course of action that wasn't necessarily in his best interests, but was great for ours. Lastly, as we prepared to move out of Michigan, I asked Kris for advice and recommendations on auto insurance. He referred me to a couple of websites and essentially said, "I would love to persuade you to stay with your Michigan insurance, but, really, you are better off with another independent insurance agent in the state to which you are moving."

The business was acquired by Gallagher in 2023 and we just found out today - we can't find any notice that the name and owners had changed!! We had good experience with Kleinshmitt over the years, hopefully Gallagher will be ok. Gallaghe

Matt Fahoome - State Farm Insurance Agent

Couldn't get my policy canceled properly, despite THREE chats with State Farm reps documenting the…read morecorrect date. Fahoome apparently cannot read (he had to process the cancellation himself). Big problem for an insurance agent. Accuracy is imperative. Mishandled our policy with multiple errors, then tried to blame it on someone else. Obnoxious and rude to me on the phone on one of the very few occasions (and last) time I called the office- instead tried to upsell me on more insurance. Inherited us as clients from Dan Jilek- who sadly passed too soon. Fahoome apparently feels he doesn't have to build or maintain relationships with customers of 25+ years that were HANDED to him- ZERO EFFORT- and we are THRILLED to be rid of him and his constantly changing office staff. Can't keep customers or employees. Do yourself a favor, get out before you have a claim- from those who reached out to me with a claim, it's an even bigger nightmare to deal with him. You're on your own. ‍

State Farm in general tends to have good customer service and good responsiveness. As far as…read moreclaims, when someone hit my car (while I was parked, mind you), the agents here did listen to the story. They tended to refer me to the corporate office which I wasn't too pleased with. Though I understand that the nat'l hotline handles claims, I would prefer they look into my case on my behalf. Because really, that's the only time you need your agent, right? ..is when someone doesn't look where they are going and bumps into the driver side of your car WHILE you are parked. The only time the agents here were very friendly was when they were signing me up for their insurance (of course). In general, as a local chapter, I wish they were a little bit more "on top of things" and responsive to their clients. It just seemed like when an accident actually happens, they don't have a lot of answers or responses to questions. I think this office is fully capable of improving on this.
