I would like to begin my review by sharing that this is the second time we have hired Abe Kurek as…read moreour home inspector. I left a glowing review during 2023. You can look it up under my name, Mary Savva. Although we decided against buying the home in 2023, we decided we would absolutely and unwaveringly use Abe as our inspector the next time. Fast forward 3 years later, we recently used Abe in June 2026. We had the pleasure of meeting his son Nick during our 2nd inspection. I really can't say enough about Abe. I find it difficult to top my 2023 review because it was so good. During our second experience with Abe, we had a different realtor. All I have to say is Abe is on your side. The jingle, "Nationwide is on your side" should be Abe's theme song except it would be, "Abe is on your side." I hate to sound cheesy, but when you are a first-time homebuyer, it's hard to relax and trust the process. Abe makes it easier to do that simply because he is loyal to you and only you. It's a huge relief to have someone with so much experience under their belt in your corner. It's also a relief to know you can have the same confidence in his son Nick. When you hire Abe, the relationship doesn't end with the home inspection. He fully prepares you to become a homeowner. He provides lists of referrals and lots of other useful information on his website such as what to look for during the final walk through. He assures you that you can reach out to him at any time- pre and post purchase. You feel like you are more than just a customer, you are now part of a family. Of course, the candy filled goody bag made especially for you helps a lot too during the inspection! Abe and Nick check every nook and cranny (crawlspaces, roofs, attics) They arrived on time and spent over 3 hours combing through the property. Abe uses his drone to check the roof. He even has a "back-up drone" just in case his high-tech drone fails for whatever reason. He is fully prepared for your inspection. He is able to explain complex issues clearly in layman's terms, or in our case, "first time home buyers" terms. He patiently answered our questions. His home inspection report is concise and easy to understand. This cannot be overstated. It includes a "Table of Contents" which makes everything easy to find. The report does not lack detail. It is well organized with very clear pictures. This helped us to negotiate repairs and buy in confidence. One of my best friends is currently house hunting. Her husband is a surgeon. She is worried that he might not be able to attend the home inspection. I immediately referred her to Abe and assured her that she would be in good hands. I explained she would have nothing to worry about if her husband could not attend. I highly recommend Abe & Nick Kurek to anyone buying a home in the area. They are professional, responsive and worth every penny! 5/5 stars.

But…read moreafter one phone call to Abe, I was pretty set and confident on Abe's Home Inspection Services. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes. Every step of the way was a learning process for me and I gained a ton of new knowledge on structural info, safety, energy saving tips and more on the house. Abe gave me a packet and some goodie bags. The retractable tape measure with sticky notes and pen is really cool. He also put in some candy if you're feeling peckish, some hand sanitizer, flashlight and bandaids--all super useful stuff. Folder includes info packets, and even a final walk through checklist. He'd really thought of everything. Overall, I highly recommend Abe. His inspection gave me valuable insight on the house, and most importantly I gained a peace of mind. It's definitely worth the price!

An incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience, especially as a first-time homebuyer. Hire anyone else.

We were highly disappointed. Despite his home inspection saying there were minor concerns for us, we pulled the Town report and found that many things he aid were NOT issues WERE. 1. Foundation cracks - while not unusual, these were identically cracked across from one another and larger than what I was comfortable with - Gary Oleski said not to be of concern - town inspector report actually said foundation was poured incorrectly and noted as "owner's risk"; 2. Bathroom vents - Gary said that they were to code and vented outside. I specifically asked Gary if they were vented outside or through the Attic, he stated they were vented directly outside, contrary to that we found out that they were NOT vented directly outside and were NOT to code! 3. Prior roof leak was known and new roof was noted and I specifically asked him to look at the roof for issues. He did find nail pops and some concern over the shingles by sky lights but stated that because it was a newer roof the shingles may not have settled into place yet. That was reasonable. We did find out however (and not that Gary would know this, but repair to the roof did not have a permit pulled and the original roof also was not signed off on by the town inspector). 4. Plumbing - the plumbing was not to code and not signed off on by the town. Gary did not see any plumbing issues. 5. The venting of the furnace/mechanics of the house were not to code and Gary said that they were fine. I have no idea what to make of that on the part of what to expect from an inspector on that issue. I realize that not all of that would have been known by an average inspector, but he claims to be a "Master inspector" and at the price we pay for inspections, in this case we paid $795 with the water/radon testing, is it too much to ask that a person that is ultimately in charge of the major purchase we are making in picking a home not pull the town record or know more about what they are inspecting? Also, he claims he is experience in building log homes. When we questioned further, we were told he was involved with building a "Spec/Model" log home. Very misleading from the website. We did not receive any photographs of items of concern or what he inspected, we were not told correct information and while he was very nice and provided the hand written report back quickly, I would not recommend his services for such a significant investment, as we had to walk away from this home based upon what we later found out about the house. If we had based it upon the inspection he provided, we would be purchasing a "money pit" that may not have been safe over time.

Bob was professional, caring, and truly invested in ensuring we were buying a good quality house. For the inspection, he arrived early and walked us through the entire process he goes through. We are first time home buyers, and Bob was patient, answered all our questions, sought out questions from us along the way, and provided an extremely impeccable and thorough final report that is going to be so helpful for us as we embark on this new journey of owning a home. We have referred to it multiple times in just a few months. He took his time and never rushed and made sure to note causes for concern, potential causes for concern, characteristics of our home that are unique and may need special attention and care in the future, etc. He truly went above and beyond. Even better yet - over the next few months as repairs were made and when we had an issue with our walkthrough, we called Bob and he always called us back in the same day, if not just a few hours later. He continued to showcase his care for great service and setting us up for success and never once put us off because it wasn't related to our initial inspection or because a few months had passed. Compared to a few other inspectors we talked to he was bit pricier, but WELL worth it. I have told everyone I can about Bob. If you want a GREAT inspection, a trusted provider, and peace of mind when buying a home, I truly believe you cannot find anyone better then Bob and his team at Cornerstone. Thank you!

He agreed to do the inspection the day after we contacted him. As we did the walk through with him, he provided a number of very helpful suggestions, but felt that the house (from the 1860s) was in very good shape. In addition, unlike many other inspectors, he is an engineer and was able to provide guidance on structural matters (which fortunately was fine). He produced a 168 page report the following day (with lots of pictures), which also included a summary. We found him very knowledgeable and helpful, and highly recommend him.
