I didn't know about this shop at first, but it was recommended by my Airbnb host in den Haag. I told her about our intention to visit Gouda and find some cheese, then she told us why go there when there's a cheese shop just around the corner? The guy there was friendly to help us with the selection. He even offered samples from whatever cheese you wanna try. Of course you can't be ridiculous. He recommended plain Gouda without any herbs and spice because that's the best way to taste the cheese, but I'm not really a purist and I ended up falling in love with their fenugreek (medium aged) Gouda. Omg so good, nutty, creamy and tastes a bit like coffee! I have never seen fenugreek Gouda in the US so this is definitely one of a kind. Have a cheesy day!

This place is both a shop and a tiny restaurant (I would never have known the latter from the outside). The lovely woman who worked there knew so much about their meats and cheeses, and gave us samples to try. We walked out with three cheeses and three meats. You can shop one of two ways. Grab a handheld scanner when you walk in and use a self-checkout, or you can place items in your basket and go through the line the old fashioned way. Our friend used the scanner, but we weren't that adventurous and scanned at the register. No matter which method you use, they have employees to help. As far as groceries go, you can find everything you need here, from groceries to drinks to household items such as paper towels and toilet paper. Even if you buy meat and cheese at the farmer's market, you'll still need a supermarket for some items, and this one is the perfect choice. Albert Heijn has ready made sushi, a bakery, a deli, and so much more. They have ready-made salads and prepared foods in the deli, and I bought a Couscous Abrikoos meal. Since my friends were having fried food and I wanted to give my body something lighter and healthier, I microwaved it for dinner, and it was delicious. We returned to Albert Heijn on our last night in town to stock up on candy and other goodies. The store has a huge selection, and I was glad to not have to track down candy at the airport. If you have a car, parking is free in the garage. You take an escalator "ramp" to the store, and the carts "lock" into the escalator so they don't fall. The Dutch really have shopping figured out!

Tea and coffee are sold by the weight and pretty much anyone should be able to find something to their liking here. There is a useful assortment of tea and coffee paraphernalia but the actual product is what keeps people going there. My wife, my children, my friends and dozens and dozens of locals are lifelong aficionados of this shop. On busy days the line can stretch out onto the street. If you are a tourist, visit for the atmosphere and take home some tea. If you are a local you cannot be better advised on potential by Marion or her staff.
