This is our review of our interactions with Ann Wilson of Keller Williams. We are a military family that was seeking to buy a home prior to arrival to DC. We made three visits to Arlington during which we early expressed our desire for this to be our last move and to invest $1M+ in the home that we and our three young children would settle in after retirement from the service. While the visits were not always as organized as we would have liked, we ultimately found a home and signed an offer sheet. Once our offer was accepted, Ann quickly took the lead on scheduling inspections and services to ensure the deal moved along. She recommended a mortgage company, Potomac Mortgage Group (stay away from this company). She also took the lead on scheduling the home and pest inspections as well as liaising with the seller and seller's agent to resolve the identified issues. Finally, she offered to do our pre-closing walkthrough and reported all was pristine with the exception of a few burnt out light bulbes. After a long, difficult, and slow process we closed. All of this was offered under the guise of helping us to overcome the challenge of the distance between our previous station and Arlington, or so we thought. A few weeks after closing we arrived to find furniture left behind, inoperative lighting fixtures, a broken front door, and very poorly executed repairs to the the items identified on the inspection. We also found numerous defects that any veteran realtor would have seen and should have pointed out to the prospective buyers whom they were supposed to be looking out for. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We have no doubt that these defects must have been apparent to her, but she chose to keep silent rather than offering an accurate assessment of the home. As a result, we not only overpaid, but also have a lot repairs to complete before we get the home to where it reflects what we paid for it. When we attempted to contact her about these issues, she refused to return our calls. After resorting to emails, we finally received a much belated email in which she quoted the legalese of buyers agreement and steadfastly stated that we should have looked out for ourselves. She went on to state that any assistance she provided purely "ministerial" and that any shortcomings were on us. Ultimately she his correct. We were wrong in trusting that with her we were more than just another sale leading to another commission ($39K for this deal). We STRONGLY recommend you seek another agent when house shopping in Arlington. read more
